Proverbs 28

1 The wicked flees when no one is pursuing, the upright is bold as a lion.	1 L'empio fugge senza che nessuno lo perseguiti, ma il giusto è franco come un leone, e senza paura.
2 A country in revolt throws up many leaders: with one person wise and experienced, you have stability.	2 A causa dei peccati della terra son molti i suoi principi, ma per la sapienza di un uomo e la cognizione di ciò che si dice, la vita del principe sarà più lunga.
3 The wicked oppresses the weak: here is a devastating rain -- and farewell, bread!	3 Un povero che opprime i poveri è si­mile a pioggia violenta che prepara la carestia.
4 Those who forsake the law sing the praises of the wicked, those who observe the law are angered bythem.	4 Quelli che trascuran la legge lodan l'empio, quelli che l'osservano ardono di zelo contro di lui.
5 The wicked do not know what justice means, those who seek Yahweh understand everything.	5 I malvagi non comprendono ciò ch'è giusto, ma quelli che cercano il Signore guardano ad ogni cosa.
6 Better someone poor living an honest life than someone of devious ways however rich.	6 Meglio un povero di condotta intemerata, che un ricco di perversi costumi.
7 An intel igent child is one who keeps the Law; an associate of profligates brings shame on his father.	7 Chi osserva la legge è saggio figliolo, ma chi pasce i crapuloni fa vergogna a suo padre.
8 Whoever increases wealth by usury and interest amasses it for someone else who will bestow it on thepoor.	8 Chi ammucchia ricchezze con usura e interessi le ammassa per uno liberale verso i poveri.
9 Whoever refuses to listen to the Law, such a one's very prayer is an abomination.	9 Chi chiude le orecchie per non sentir la legge, la sua preghiera sarà esecrabile.
10 Whoever seduces the honest to evil ways wil fal into his own pit. The blameless are the heirs tohappiness.	10 Chi inganna i giusti, (menandoli) in cattiva strada, cadrà proprio nella sua fossa, e gl'innocenti saran padroni dei suoi beni.
11 The rich may think himself wise, but the intelligent poor wil unmask him.	11 Il ricco si crede sapiente, ma il povero dotato d'intelligenza lo conoscerà a fondo.
12 When the upright triumph, there is great exultation: when the wicked are in the ascendant, peopletake cover.	12 Quando trionfano i giusti, la gloria è grande, sotto il regno degli empi gli uomini vanno in rovina.
13 No one who conceals his sins will prosper, whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.	13 Chi nasconde i suoi peccati non avrà bene, chi li confessa e li lascia otterrà misericordia.
14 Blessed the person who is never without fear, whoever hardens his heart will fal into distress.	14 Beato l'uomo che sempre teme, chi è duro di cuore precipiterà nel male.
15 Like a roaring lion or a springing bear is a wicked ruler of a powerless people.	15 Leone ruggente, orso affamato è un principe empio che regna sopra un popolo povero.
16 An unenlightened ruler is rich in rapacity, one who hates greed wil lengthen his days.	16 Il principe senza prudenza opprimerà molti con violenze, ma chi odia l'avarizia prolungherà i suoi giorni.
17 A man guilty of murder wil flee till he reaches his tomb: let no one halt him!	17 L'uomo che ha sparso violentemente il sangue, anche se si getta in un baratro, nessun lo ritiene.
18 Whoever lives an honest life wil be safe, whoever wavers between two ways falls down in one ofthem.	18 Chi cammina con rettitudine sarà salvo, chi procede per vie storte cadrà ad un tratto.
19 Whoever works his land shall have bread and to spare, but no one who chases fantasies has anysense.	19 Chi lavora la sua terra avrà pane in abbondanza, chi si dà all'ozio sarà pieno di miseria.
20 A trustworthy person wil be overwhelmed with blessings, but no one who tries to get rich quickly wilgo unpunished.	20 L'uomo fedele sarà colmo di lode, ma chi ha fretta d'arricchirsi non sarà senza colpa.
21 It is not good to show partiality, but people will do wrong for a mouthful of bread.	21 Chi in giudizio ha riguardi personali non fa bene, è tale che per un tozzo di pane abbandona la verità.
22 The person of greedy eye chases after wealth, not knowing that want wil be the result.	22 L'uomo che ha fretta d'arricchire e invidia gli altri non sa che all'improvviso gli piomberà addosso l'indigenza.
23 Anyone who reproves another wil enjoy more favour in the end than the flatterer.	23 Chi corregge un uomo gli sarà alla fine più accetto di chi lo inganna colle lusinghe della lingua.
24 Whoever robs father and mother saying, 'Nothing wrong in that!' is comrade for a brigand.	24 Chi ruba a suo padre e a sua madre, e dice che non è peccato, è compagno dell'omicida.
25 The covetous provokes disputes, whoever trusts in Yahweh wil prosper.	25 Chi si vanta e si gonfia, eccita contese, chi invece spera nel Signore otterrà salute.
26 Whoever trusts his own wit is a fool, anyone whose ways are wise wil be safe.	26 Chi confida nel suo cuore è uno stolto, chi invece procede con sapienza sarà salvo.
27 No one who gives to the poor wil ever go short, but whoever closes his eyes will have curses inplenty.	27 Chi dona al povero non avrà mai bisogno, chi disprezza colui che si raccomanda soffrirà penuria.
28 When the wicked are in the ascendant, people take cover, but when they perish, the upright multiply.	28 Quando s'innalzeranno gli empi, la gente andrà a nascondersi, quando quelli saranno spenti, si moltiplicheranno i giusti.
