Proverbs 23

NEW JERUSALEM	SMITH VAN DYKE
1 If you take your seat at a great man's table, take careful note of what you have before you;	1 اذا جلست تاكل مع متسلط فتامل ما هو امامك تاملا
2 if you have a big appetite put a knife to your throat.	2 وضع سكينا لحنجرتك ان كنت شرها.
3 Do not hanker for his delicacies, for they are deceptive food.	3 لا تشته اطايبه لانها خبز اكاذيب.
4 Do not wear yourself out in quest of wealth, stop applying your mind to this.	4 لا تتعب لكي تصير غنيا. كف عن فطنتك.
5 Fix your gaze on it, and it is there no longer, for it is able to sprout wings like an eagle that flies off tothe sky.	5 هل تطيّر عينيك نحوه وليس هو. لانه انما يصنع لنفسه اجنحة. كالنسر يطير نحو السماء
6 Do not eat the food of anyone whose eye is jealous, do not hanker for his delicacies.	6 لا تأكل خبز ذي عين شريرة ولا تشته اطايبه.
7 For what he is real y thinking about is himself: 'Eat and drink,' he tells you, but his heart is not with you.	7 لانه كما شعر في نفسه هكذا هو. يقول لك كل واشرب وقلبه ليس معك.
8 You wil spit out whatever you have eaten and find your compliments wasted.	8 اللقمة التي اكلتها تتقيأها وتخسر كلماتك الحلوة.
9 Do not waste words on a fool, who wil not appreciate the shrewdness of your remarks.	9 في اذني جاهل لا تتكلم لانه يحتقر حكمة كلامك.
10 Do not displace the ancient boundary-stone, or encroach on orphans' lands,	10 لا تنقل التخم القديم ولا تدخل حقول الايتام.
11 for they have a powerful avenger, and he will take up their cause against you.	11 لان وليهم قوي. هو يقيم دعواهم عليك
12 Apply your heart to discipline, and your ears to instructive sayings.	12 وجّه قلبك الى الادب واذنيك الى كلمات المعرفة.
13 Do not be chary of correcting a child, a stroke of the cane is not likely to be fatal.	13 لا تمنع التأديب عن الولد لانك ان ضربته بعصا لا يموت.
14 Give him a stroke of the cane, you wil save his soul from Sheol.	14 تضربه انت بعصا فتنقذ نفسه من الهاوية.
15 My child, if your heart is wise, then my own heart is glad,	15 يا ابني ان كان قلبك حكيما يفرح قلبي انا ايضا
16 and my inmost self rejoices when from your lips come honest words.	16 وتبتهج كليتاي اذا تكلمت شفتاك بالمستقيمات.
17 Do not let your heart be envious of sinners but remain steady every day in the fear of Yahweh;	17 لا يحسدن قلبك الخاطئين بل كن في مخافة الرب اليوم كله.
18 for there is a future, and your hope wil not come to nothing.	18 لانه لا بد من ثواب ورجاؤك لا يخيب.
19 Listen, my child, and be wise, and guide your heart in the way.	19 اسمع انت يا ابني وكن حكيما وارشد قلبك في الطريق.
20 Do not be one of those forever tippling wine nor one of those who gorge themselves with meat;	20 لا تكن بين شريبي الخمر بين المتلفين اجسادهم.
21 for the drunkard and glutton impoverish themselves, and sleepiness is clothed in rags.	21 لان السكير والمسرف يفتقران والنوم يكسو الخرق
22 Listen to your father from whom you are sprung, do not despise your mother in her old age.	22 اسمع لابيك الذي ولدك ولا تحتقر امك اذا شاخت.
23 Purchase truth -- never sel it-wisdom, discipline, and discernment.	23 اقتن الحق ولا تبعه والحكمة والادب والفهم.
24 The father of the upright wil rejoice indeed, he who fathers a wise child wil have joy of it.	24 ابو الصدّيق يبتهج ابتهاجا ومن ولد حكيما يسرّ به.
25 Your father and mother will be happy, and she who bore you joyful.	25 يفرح ابوك وامك وتبتهج التي ولدتك.
26 My child, pay attention to me, let your eyes take pleasure in my way:	26 يا ابني اعطني قلبك ولتلاحظ عيناك طرقي.
27 a prostitute is a deep pit, a narrow wel , the woman who belongs to another.	27 لان الزانية هوة عميقة والاجنبية حفرة ضيّقة.
28 Yes, like a brigand, she lies in wait, increasing the number of law-breakers.	28 هي ايضا كلص تكمن وتزيد الغادرين بين الناس
29 For whom is pity, for whom contempt, for whom is strife, for whom complaint, for whom blows struckat random, for whom the clouded eye?	29 لمن الويل لمن الشقاوة لمن المخاصمات لمن الكرب لمن الجروح بلا سبب لمن ازمهرار العينين.
30 For those who linger over wine too long, ever on the look-out for the blended liquors.	30 للذين يدمنون الخمر الذين يدخلون في طلب الشراب الممزوج.
31 Do not gaze at wine, how red it is, how it sparkles in the cup! How smoothly it slips down the throat!	31 لا تنظر الى الخمر اذ احمرّت حين تظهر حبابها في الكاس وساغت مرقرقة.
32 In the end its bite is like a serpent's, its sting as sharp as an adder's.	32 في الآخر تلسع كالحية وتلدغ كالافعوان.
33 Your eyes wil see peculiar things, you will talk nonsense from your heart.	33 عيناك تنظران الاجنبيات وقلبك ينطق بأمور ملتوية.
34 You will be like someone sleeping in mid-ocean, like one asleep at the mast-head.	34 وتكون كمضطجع في قلب البحر او كمضطجع على راس سارية.
35 'Struck me, have they? But I'm not hurt. Beaten me? I don't feel anything. When shal I wake up? . . I'lask for more of it!'	35 يقول ضربوني ولم اتوجع. لقد لكأوني ولم اعرف. متى استيقظ. اعود اطلبها بعد
