Proverbs 19

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Better the poor living an honest life than the adept at double-talk who is a fool.	1 Meglio un povero di condotta intemerata che un ricco il quale torce i labbri ed è stolto.
2 Where knowledge is wanting, zeal is not good; whoever goes too quickly stumbles.	2 Dove non c'è la scienza dell'anima non c'è alcun bene, e chi ha la fretta nei piedi inciamperà.
3 Folly leads conduct astray, yet it is against Yahweh that the heart rages.	3 La stoltezza dell'uomo ne rovina gli affari, ed egli poi s'arrabbia contro Dio.
4 Wealth multiplies friends, but the one friend the poor has is taken away.	4 Le ricchezze procurano gran numero d'amici; dal povero se ne vanno anche quelli che aveva.
5 The false witness wil not go unpunished, no one who utters lies wil go free.	5 Il falso testimonio non rimarrà impunito, e chi spaccia menzogne non avrà scampo.
6 The nobleman has many to court his favour, to a giver of gifts, everyone is friend.	6 Stolti onorano la persona del potente e sono amici di chi dà regali.
7 The poor man's brothers hate him, every one; his friends -- how much the more do these desert him!He goes in search of words, but there are none to be had.	7 Gli stessi fratelli hanno a noia il povero, e molto più i suoi amici s'allontanan da lui. Chi va dietro alle parole non avrà nulla.
8 Whoever acquires sense wins profit from it, whoever treasures understanding finds happiness.	8 Chi acquista senno ama la sua anima, e chi fa tesoro della prudenza si troverà bene.
9 The false witness wil not go unpunished, whoever utters lies wil be destroyed.	9 Il falso testimonio non rimarrà impunito, e chi spaccia menzogne perirà.
10 It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, stil less for a slave to govern princes.	10 Non sta bene che lo stolto sia in delizie, nè che il servo comandi ai principi.
11 Good sense makes for self-control, and for pride in overlooking an offence.	11 La saggezza dell'uomo si conosce dalla pazienza, ed è sua gloria passar sopra le offese.
12 Like the roaring of a lion, the anger of a king, but like dew on the grass his favour.	12 Come ruggito di leone è l'ira del re, ma ìa sua ilarità è come rugiada sull'erba.
13 A foolish child is a disaster for the father, the bickerings of a wife are like an ever-dripping gutter.	13 Il figliolo stolto è la sventura del padre, e la donna litigiosa è un tetto che sgocciola continuamente.
14 From fathers comes inheritance of house and wealth, from Yahweh a wife who is discreet.	14 La casa e le ricchezze vengono dai parenti, ma la moglie prudente è un dono speciale del Signore.
15 Idleness lul s to sleep, the feckless soul wil go hungry.	15 La pigrizia fa venire il sonno e la persona indolente patirà la fame.
16 Keeping the commandment is self-preservation, but whoever despises these ways wil die.	16 Chi osserva, il comandamento conserva la sua anima, ma chi è trascurato nella sua condotta troverà la morte.
17 Whoever is kind to the poor is lending to Yahweh who wil repay him the kindness done.	17 Presta al Signore chi ha pietà del povero, ed Egli gliene renderà il contraccambio.
18 While there is hope for him, chastise your child, but do not get so angry as to kill him.	18 Correggi il tuo figliolo, non disperare; guardati dal farlo morire.
19 The violent lays himself open to a penalty; spare him, and you aggravate his crime.	19 Chi è impaziente ne porterà il danno, e se farà violenza aggiungerà danno a danno.
20 Listen to advice, accept correction, to be the wiser in the time to come.	20 Ascolta i consigli, accetta la correzione, per esser sapiente in avvenire.
21 Many are the plans in the human heart, but the purpose of Yahweh -- that stands firm.	21 Molti sono i disegni nel cuore dell'uomo, ma è la volontà del Signore quella che prevale.
22 Faithful love is what people look for in a person; they prefer the poor to a liar.	22 L'uomo (che è stato) indigente è misericordioso; meglio povero che bugiardo.
23 The fear of Yahweh leads to life, it brings food and shelter, without fear of evil.	23 Il timor del Signore mena alla vita, chi ne avrà molto non sarà visitato dalla sventura.
24 Into the dish the idler dips his hand, but bring it back to his mouth he cannot.	24 Il pigro nasconde la sua mano sotto l'ascella, nè sa portarla fino alla bocca.
25 Strike a cynic, and simpletons wil be more wary; reprove the intel igent and he wil understand yourmeaning.	25 Flagellato che sia l'empio, metterà giudizio lo stolto, se invece correggi il sapiente, imparerà la disciplina.
26 He who il -treats his father and drives out his mother is a child both worthless and depraved.	26 Chi affligge il padre e fa fuggire la madre è infame e infelice.
27 Give up listening to instruction, my child, if you mean to stray from words of knowledge.	27 Figliolo, non ti stancare di udire avvertimenti, non volere ignorare le parole della scienza.
28 A perjured witness holds the law in scorn; the mouth of the wicked feasts on evil-doing.	28 IUl testimone iniquo si burla della giustizia, e la bocca degli stolti divora l'iniquità.
29 Punishments were made for mockers, and beating for the backs of fools.	29 E' preparato per i beffardi il giudizio, i martelli per battere i corpi degli stolti.
