Proverbs 19

1 Better the poor living an honest life than the adept at double-talk who is a fool.	1 PIÙ stimabile è il povero, che cammina nella sua semplicità, che il ricco di labbra perverse, e stolto.
2 Where knowledge is wanting, zeal is not good; whoever goes too quickly stumbles.	2 Dove non è la scienza dell'anima, non v'ha nissun bene; e chi cammhm frettoloso, inciamperà.
3 Folly leads conduct astray, yet it is against Yahweh that the heart rages.	3 La stoltezza dell'uomo è quella, che spinge i suoi passi nel precipizio: ed egli in cuor suo si riscalda contro Dio.
4 Wealth multiplies friends, but the one friend the poor has is taken away.	4 Le ricchezze fanno crescere il numero degli amici: dal povero se ne vanno anche quelli, che aveva.
5 The false witness wil not go unpunished, no one who utters lies wil go free.	5 Il falso testimone non anderà impunito; e chi spaccia menzogne non avrà scampo.
6 The nobleman has many to court his favour, to a giver of gifts, everyone is friend.	6 Molti fan corteggio alla persona del potente, e sono amici di chi li regala.
7 The poor man's brothers hate him, every one; his friends -- how much the more do these desert him!He goes in search of words, but there are none to be had.	7 Gli stessi fratelli hanno a noia il povero, e oltre a ciò anche gli amici se ne van lungi da lui. Chi va dietro alle parole non avrà mai nulla:
8 Whoever acquires sense wins profit from it, whoever treasures understanding finds happiness.	8 Ma chi ha mente, ama l'anima sua: e chi tien conto della prudenza, farà acquisto di beni.
9 The false witness wil not go unpunished, whoever utters lies wil be destroyed.	9 Il falso testimone non anderà impunito, e chi spaccia menzogne anderà in rovina.
10 It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, stil less for a slave to govern princes.	10 Non è cosa conveniente, che lo stolto sia in delizie, né che il servo comandi ai principi.
11 Good sense makes for self-control, and for pride in overlooking an offence.	11 Per la pazienza si fa manifesta la dottrina dell'uomo, ed è sua gloria il passar sopra alle ingiustizie.
12 Like the roaring of a lion, the anger of a king, but like dew on the grass his favour.	12 Come il ruggito del lione, così anche l'ira del re: e la ilarità di lui è come la rugiada sull'erba.
13 A foolish child is a disaster for the father, the bickerings of a wife are like an ever-dripping gutter.	13 Lo stolto figliuolo è affanno del padre, e la donna litigiosa è come un tetto, per cui passa l'acqua continuamente.
14 From fathers comes inheritance of house and wealth, from Yahweh a wife who is discreet.	14 La casa, e le facoltà sono date dai genitori; ma la moglie prudente propriamente dal Signore.
15 Idleness lul s to sleep, the feckless soul wil go hungry.	15 La pigrizia fa venire il sonno, e l'anima negligente patirà la fame.
16 Keeping the commandment is self-preservation, but whoever despises these ways wil die.	16 Chi custodisce il comandamento, ha cura dell'anima sua; ma chi è trascurato nel seguirne la strada, perirà.
17 Whoever is kind to the poor is lending to Yahweh who wil repay him the kindness done.	17 Chi ha misericordia del povero, da ad interesse al Signore, ed ei gliene renderà il contraccambio.
18 While there is hope for him, chastise your child, but do not get so angry as to kill him.	18 Correggi il tuo figliuolo; non perdere speranza, ma guardati dall'ucciderlo.
19 The violent lays himself open to a penalty; spare him, and you aggravate his crime.	19 Colui che è impaziente ne porterà il danno: e se userà violenze aggiungerà male a male.
20 Listen to advice, accept correction, to be the wiser in the time to come.	20 Ascolta i consigli, e accetta la correzione; onde tu sii saggio nella ultima età.
21 Many are the plans in the human heart, but the purpose of Yahweh -- that stands firm.	21 L'uomo ha molti pensieri in cuor suo; ma la volontà del Signore sarà stabile.
22 Faithful love is what people look for in a person; they prefer the poor to a liar.	22 L'uomo che nell'indigenza, è misericordioso; ed è meglio esser povere, che bugiardo.
23 The fear of Yahweh leads to life, it brings food and shelter, without fear of evil.	23 Il timor del Signore da vita, e sarà nella abbondanza, lungi dalla visita del maligno.
24 Into the dish the idler dips his hand, but bring it back to his mouth he cannot.	24 Il pigro nasconde la sua mano sotto l'ascella, e non la porta fino alla sua bocca.
25 Strike a cynic, and simpletons wil be more wary; reprove the intel igent and he wil understand yourmeaning.	25 Quando l'uomo empio sarà flagellato, acquisterà giudizio lo stolto; ma se tu farai correzione all'uom saggio, egli apprenderà la disciplina.
26 He who il -treats his father and drives out his mother is a child both worthless and depraved.	26 Chi tribola il padre, e fa fuggire la madre, egli è infame, ed infelice.
27 Give up listening to instruction, my child, if you mean to stray from words of knowledge.	27 Figliuolo non ti stancare di udire gli avvertimenti, e non voler essere ignorante delle parole sensate.
28 A perjured witness holds the law in scorn; the mouth of the wicked feasts on evil-doing.	28 Il testimone iniquo si burla della giustizia e la bocca degli empj divora l'iniquità.
29 Punishments were made for mockers, and beating for the backs of fools.	29 E preparato pei derisori il giudizio, e il martello uccisore pei corpi degli stolti.
