Proverbs 16

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 A human heart makes the plans, Yahweh gives the answer.	1 All'uomo i progetti del cuore, ma dal Signore la risposta della lingua.
2 A person's own acts seem right to the doer, but Yahweh is the weigher of souls.	2 Tutte le vie dell'uomo sono pure ai suoi occhi, ma chi esamina gli spiriti è il Signore.
3 Commend what you do to Yahweh, and what you plan wil be achieved.	3 Affida al Signore le tue opere e i tuoi progetti si realizzeranno.
4 Yahweh made everything for its own purpose, yes, even the wicked for the day of disaster.	4 Ogni opera del Signore è fatta per un fine; anche l'empio, per il giorno di sventura.
5 Every arrogant heart is abhorrent to Yahweh: be sure this wil not go unpunished.	5 Il Signore detesta ogni cuore orgoglioso; sicuramente non sarà impunito.
6 By faithful love and constancy sin is expiated; by fear of Yahweh evil is avoided.	6 Con la bontà e la fedeltà si espìa il peccato e col timor di Dio ci si allontana dal male.
7 Let Yahweh be pleased with someone's way of life and he makes that person's very enemies intofriends.	7 Quando il Signore si compiace delle vie di un uomo, gli riconcilia pure i suoi nemici.
8 Better have little and with it uprightness than great revenues with injustice.	8 E' meglio poco con giustizia che molti beni senza l'equità.
9 The human heart may plan a course, but it is Yahweh who makes the steps secure.	9 Il cuore dell'uomo decide la sua strada, ma il Signore consolida il suo passo.
10 The lips of the king utter prophecies, he keeps faith when he speaks in judgement.	10 C'è un oracolo sulle labbra del re, nel giudizio la sua bocca non prevarica.
11 The balances and scales belong to Yahweh, al the weights in the bag are of his making.	11 La bilancia e i piatti giusti son del Signore, tutti i pesi del sacco son sua opera.
12 Evil-doing is abhorrent to kings, since uprightness is a throne's foundation.	12 I re detestano fare il male, perché con la giustizia il trono si consolida.
13 Upright lips are welcome to a king, he loves someone of honest words.	13 Delizia dei re sono le labbra giuste, essi amano chi dice cose rette.
14 The king's wrath is the herald of death, but the wise will appease it.	14 L'ira del re è messaggera di morte, ma l'uomo saggio la placa.
15 When the king's face brightens it spel s life, his favour is like the rain in spring.	15 Nella luce del volto del re c'è la vita, il suo favore è come pioggia primaverile.
16 Better gain wisdom than gold, choose understanding in preference to silver.	16 E' meglio possedere sapienza che oro e intelligenza più che argento.
17 To turn from evil is the way of the honest; whoever watches the path keeps life safe.	17 La via dei retti è fuggire il male; chi vuol custodire la sua anima sorveglia la sua strada.
18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fal .	18 Davanti alla rovina c'è l'orgoglio, davanti alla caduta lo spirito altero.
19 Better be humble with the poor than share the booty with the proud.	19 Meglio l'umiltà dello spirito coi poveri che una parte della preda coi superbi.
20 Whoever listens closely to the word finds happiness; whoever trusts Yahweh is blessed.	20 Chi sta attento alla parola trova il bene, e chi confida nel Signore è beato.
21 The wise of heart is acclaimed as intel igent, sweetness of speech increases knowledge.	21 Chi è saggio di cuore è proclamato intelligente e la dolcezza delle labbra aumenta il valore.
22 Shrewdness is a fountain of life for its possessor, the fol y of fools is their own punishment.	22 Sorgente di vita è la sapienza per chi l'ha, castigo degli stolti è la stoltezza.
23 The heart of the wise lends shrewdness to speech and makes words more persuasive.	23 Il cuore del saggio fa intelligente la sua bocca e alle sue labbra aggiunge prestigio.
24 Kindly words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste, wholesome to the body.	24 Un favo di miele son le parole amabili, dolci per l'anima e salutari per le ossa.
25 There is a way that some think straight, but it leads in the end to death.	25 Agli occhi dell'uomo una strada sembra retta, ma all'altro capo ci son sentieri di morte.
26 A worker's appetite works on his behalf, for his hunger urges him on.	26 L'appetito del lavoratore lavora per lui, perché su lui fa forza la sua bocca.
27 A worthless person concocts evil, such a one's talk is like a scorching fire.	27 L'uomo da niente prepara il male e sopra le sue labbra c'è come un fuoco ardente.
28 A troublemaker sows strife, a slanderer divides friend from friend.	28 L'uomo tortuoso fa nascer la discordia e chi diffama divide gli amici.
29 The violent lures his neighbour astray and leads him by a way that is not good.	29 L'uomo violento seduce il suo prossimo e lo conduce per una via non buona.
30 Whoever narrows the eyes to think up tricks and purses the lips has already done wrong.	30 Chi fa occhiolino trama cose false, chi comprime le labbra compie il male.
31 White hairs are a crown of honour, they are found in the ways of uprightness.	31 Corona di gloria è la canizie; si trova sul sentiero della giustizia.
32 Better an equable person than a hero, someone with self-mastery than one who takes a city.	32 E' meglio un uomo lento all'ira che un eroe, e chi domina il suo spirito val più di chi conquista una città.
33 In the fold of the garment the lot is thrown, but from Yahweh comes the decision.	33 Nel cavo della veste si getta la sorte, ma tutta la decisione viene dal Signore.
