1 A human heart makes the plans, Yahweh gives the answer.	1 Appartiene all'uomo il preparare l'animo suo, e al Signore il governare la lingua.
2 A person's own acts seem right to the doer, but Yahweh is the weigher of souls.	2 Tutte le vie dell'uomo sono manifeste a lui: ma il Signore pesa gli spiriti.
3 Commend what you do to Yahweh, and what you plan wil be achieved.	3 Riferisci al Signore le opere tue, e i tuoi pensieri avran buono effetto.
4 Yahweh made everything for its own purpose, yes, even the wicked for the day of disaster.	4 Tutte le cose le ha fatte il Signore per se stesso: anche l'empio (che è serbato) pel giorno cattivo.
5 Every arrogant heart is abhorrent to Yahweh: be sure this wil not go unpunished.	5 Il Signore ha in abbominazione tutti gli arroganti; ancorché eglino abbiano molti confederati, non resteranno impuniti. Il principio della buona strada consiste nel praticare la giustizia: ed ella è accetta al Signore più, che le vittime.
6 By faithful love and constancy sin is expiated; by fear of Yahweh evil is avoided.	6 Colla misericordia, e colla verità si espia l'iniquità: e col timor del Signore si schiva il male.
7 Let Yahweh be pleased with someone's way of life and he makes that person's very enemies intofriends.	7 Quando le vie dell'uomo piaceranno al Signore, egli farà, che i nemici di lui alla pace rivolgami.
8 Better have little and with it uprightness than great revenues with injustice.	8 Val più il poco con giustizia, che i molti beni colla iniquità.
9 The human heart may plan a course, but it is Yahweh who makes the steps secure.	9 Il cuore dell'uomo fa i suoi disegni; ma spetta al Signore di dirigere i suoi passi.
10 The lips of the king utter prophecies, he keeps faith when he speaks in judgement.	10 Le parole del re sono oracoli; la bocca di lui non errerrà nel giudicare.
11 The balances and scales belong to Yahweh, al the weights in the bag are of his making.	11 I giudizi, del Signore sono pesati a giusta bilancia, e le opere di lui son tutte come le pietre del sacco.
12 Evil-doing is abhorrent to kings, since uprightness is a throne's foundation.	12 Sono in abbominazione dinanzi al re quelli, che operano empiamente; perchè la giustizia è la fermezza del trono.
13 Upright lips are welcome to a king, he loves someone of honest words.	13 Le labbra giuste piacciono ai regi: chi parla secondo equità sarà amato.
14 The king's wrath is the herald of death, but the wise will appease it.	14 Lo sdegno del re è annunzio di morte: ma l'uomo saggio lo placherà.
15 When the king's face brightens it spel s life, his favour is like the rain in spring.	15 Il volto ilare del re da la vita, e la clemenza di lui è come la piova serotina.
16 Better gain wisdom than gold, choose understanding in preference to silver.	16 Fa acquisto della sapienza, perché ella vale più dell'oro, e fa acquisto della prudenza, che vale più dell'argento.
17 To turn from evil is the way of the honest; whoever watches the path keeps life safe.	17 Il sentiero de' giusti è rimoto dal male: chi tien conto dell'anima sua, è costante nella sua via.
18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fal .	18 Alla caduta va innanzi la superbia, e avanti alla rovina si inalbera lo spirito.
19 Better be humble with the poor than share the booty with the proud.	19 E meglio l'essere umiliato coi mansueti, che spartire la preda co' superbi.
20 Whoever listens closely to the word finds happiness; whoever trusts Yahweh is blessed.	20 Chi ha intelligenza in un negozio, ne uscirà a bene: ma chi spera nel Signore, è beato.
21 The wise of heart is acclaimed as intel igent, sweetness of speech increases knowledge.	21 Chi ha in cuor la saggezza, avrà nome di prudente, ed essendo di dolce parlare avrà premj maggiori.
22 Shrewdness is a fountain of life for its possessor, the fol y of fools is their own punishment.	22 L'intelligenza è fonte di vita per chi la possiede: la dottrina degli stolti è sciocchezza.
23 The heart of the wise lends shrewdness to speech and makes words more persuasive.	23 Il cuore dell'uom sapiente amaestrerà la bocca di lui, e aggiungerà grazia alle sue labbra.
24 Kindly words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste, wholesome to the body.	24 Un bel parlare è un favo di miele, dolcezza dell'anima, sanità delle ossa
25 There is a way that some think straight, but it leads in the end to death.	25 Havvi una strada, che all'uomo sembra diritta; ma il suo fine mena a morte.
26 A worker's appetite works on his behalf, for his hunger urges him on.	26 L'uomo, che lavora, lavora per se medesimo, perché la sua bocca i costringe.
27 A worthless person concocts evil, such a one's talk is like a scorching fire.	27 L'empio va scavando del male ed ha fuoco ardente sulle sue labbra.
28 A troublemaker sows strife, a slanderer divides friend from friend.	28 L'uomo perverso suscita liti, e i ciarlone mette divisione trai principi.
29 The violent lures his neighbour astray and leads him by a way that is not good.	29 L'uomo iniquo seduce il proprio amico, e lo mena per istrada non buona
30 Whoever narrows the eyes to think up tricks and purses the lips has already done wrong.	30 Chi con occhio fisso sta macchinando cose cattive, mordendosi le labbra eseguisce il male.
31 White hairs are a crown of honour, they are found in the ways of uprightness.	31 Corona di dignità ell'è la vecchiezza, che si troverà nelle vie della giustizia.
32 Better an equable person than a hero, someone with self-mastery than one who takes a city.	32 E da più l'uom paziente, che i valoroso; e colui che è padrone dell'animo suo, è da più che l'espugnator di fortezze.
33 In the fold of the garment the lot is thrown, but from Yahweh comes the decision.	33 Si gettano le sorti nell'urna; ma il Signore è quegli, che ne dispone.
