Proverbs 16

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 A human heart makes the plans, Yahweh gives the answer.	1 El hombre hace proyectos en su corazón, pero el Señor pone la respuesta en sus labios.
2 A person's own acts seem right to the doer, but Yahweh is the weigher of souls.	2 El hombre piensa que todos sus caminos son puros, pero el Señor pesa los corazones.
3 Commend what you do to Yahweh, and what you plan wil be achieved.	3 Encomienda tus obras al Señor, y se realizarán tus proyectos.
4 Yahweh made everything for its own purpose, yes, even the wicked for the day of disaster.	4 El Señor lo hizo todo con un fin, incluso al malvado, para el día nefasto.
5 Every arrogant heart is abhorrent to Yahweh: be sure this wil not go unpunished.	5 El corazón altanero es abominable para el Señor, tarde o temprano no quedará impune.
6 By faithful love and constancy sin is expiated; by fear of Yahweh evil is avoided.	6 Por la bondad y la fidelidad se expían las faltas, y con el temor del Señor se evita el mal.
7 Let Yahweh be pleased with someone's way of life and he makes that person's very enemies intofriends.	7 Cuando el Señor se complace en la conducta de un hombre, lo reconcilia hasta con sus mismos enemigos.
8 Better have little and with it uprightness than great revenues with injustice.	8 Más vale poco con justicia que abundantes ganancias con injusticia.
9 The human heart may plan a course, but it is Yahweh who makes the steps secure.	9 El corazón del hombre se fija un trayecto, pero el Señor asegura sus pasos.
10 The lips of the king utter prophecies, he keeps faith when he speaks in judgement.	10 Hay un oráculo en los labios del rey: él no se equivoca cuando dicta sentencia.
11 The balances and scales belong to Yahweh, al the weights in the bag are of his making.	11 La báscula y las balanzas justas pertenecen al Señor, y son obra suya todas las pesas de la bolsa.
12 Evil-doing is abhorrent to kings, since uprightness is a throne's foundation.	12 El rey aborrece las malas acciones, porque un trono se afianza gracias a la justicia.
13 Upright lips are welcome to a king, he loves someone of honest words.	13 Los labios justos gozan del favor del rey: él ama al que habla con rectitud.
14 The king's wrath is the herald of death, but the wise will appease it.	14 El furor del rey es mensajero de muerte, pero un hombre sabio lo aplaca.
15 When the king's face brightens it spel s life, his favour is like the rain in spring.	15 Cuando el resto del rey está radiante, hay vida, y su favor es como lluvia de primavera.
16 Better gain wisdom than gold, choose understanding in preference to silver.	16 Adquirir sabiduría vale más que el oro fino, adquirir inteligencia es preferible a la plata.
17 To turn from evil is the way of the honest; whoever watches the path keeps life safe.	17 La senda de los hombres rectos es apartarse del mal, el que vigila su camino preserva su vida.
18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fal .	18 Antes de la catástrofe está el orgullo, y antes de la caída, el espíritu altanero.
19 Better be humble with the poor than share the booty with the proud.	19 Más vale ser humilde entre los pobres que repartir el botín con los orgullosos.
20 Whoever listens closely to the word finds happiness; whoever trusts Yahweh is blessed.	20 El que está atento a la palabra encontrará la dicha, y ¡feliz el que confía en el Señor!
21 The wise of heart is acclaimed as intel igent, sweetness of speech increases knowledge.	21 El que sabe discernir tiene fama de inteligente, y las palabras dulces son más persuasivas.
22 Shrewdness is a fountain of life for its possessor, the fol y of fools is their own punishment.	22 El buen juicio es fuente de vida para el que lo posee, pero la necedad es el castigo de los necios.
23 The heart of the wise lends shrewdness to speech and makes words more persuasive.	23 El corazón del sabio da sensatez a su boca y hace más persuasivas sus palabras.
24 Kindly words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste, wholesome to the body.	24 Las palabras amables son un panal de miel, dulce al paladar y saludable para el cuerpo.
25 There is a way that some think straight, but it leads in the end to death.	25 Hay caminos que parecen rectos, pero al final son caminos de muerte.
26 A worker's appetite works on his behalf, for his hunger urges him on.	26 El hambre del trabajador trabaja para él, porque su boca lo estimula.
27 A worthless person concocts evil, such a one's talk is like a scorching fire.	27 El hombre infame cava la desgracia, y en sus labios hay como un fuego devorador.
28 A troublemaker sows strife, a slanderer divides friend from friend.	28 El hombre perverso siembra discordia, y el calumniador separa a los amigos.
29 The violent lures his neighbour astray and leads him by a way that is not good.	29 El hombre violento seduce a su prójimo para llevarlo por el mal camino.
30 Whoever narrows the eyes to think up tricks and purses the lips has already done wrong.	30 El que cierra los ojos, maquinando cosas perversas, y aprieta los labios, ya ha cometido el mal.
31 White hairs are a crown of honour, they are found in the ways of uprightness.	31 Corona de gloria son los cabellos blancos, y se la encuentra en el camino de la justicia.
32 Better an equable person than a hero, someone with self-mastery than one who takes a city.	32 El que tarda en enojarse vale más que un héroe, y el dueño de sí mismo, más que un conquistador.
33 In the fold of the garment the lot is thrown, but from Yahweh comes the decision.	33 Las suertes se echan en los pliegues del manto, pero la decisión viene del Señor.
