1 A mild answer turns away wrath, sharp words stir up anger.	1 Una dolce risposta calma l'ira, la parola cruda accende il furore.
2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge welcome, the mouth of a fool spews fol y.	2 La lingua dei saggi dà pregio alla scienza, la bocca degli stolti butta fuori scempiaggini.
3 The eyes of Yahweh are everywhere: observing the wicked and the good.	3 In ogni luogo gli occhi del Signore contemplano i buoni e i cattivi.
4 The tongue that soothes is a tree of life; the perverse tongue, a breaker of hearts.	4 La lingua di pace è albero di vita, ma quella senza freno piaga lo spirito.
5 Only a fool spurns a father's discipline, whoever accepts correction is discreet.	5 Lo stolto mette in ridicolo la correzione di suo padre, ma chi fa tesoro delle correzioni diventerà più saggio. Nell'abbondanza della giustizia sta la somma fortezza, ma i disegni degli empi saranno schiantati.
6 In the house of the upright there is no lack of treasure, the earnings of the wicked are fraught withanxiety.	6 La casa del giusto è bene munita, ma nelle entrate dell'empio c'è lo scompiglio.
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge, not so the hearts of fools.	7 Le labbra dei saggi dissemineranno la scienza; il cuore degli stolti farà il contrario.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him is the prayer of the honest.	8 Il Signore abbomina le vittime degli empi: i voti dei giusti lo placano.
9 The conduct of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, but he loves the person whose goal is uprightness.	9 Il Signore ha in orrore la via degli empi: chi segue la giustizia è da lui amato.
10 Correction is severe for one who leaves the way; whoever hates being reprimanded wil die.	10 Brutta lezione avrà chi abbandona la via della vita; chi odia la correzione perirà.
11 Sheol and Perdition lie open to Yahweh; how much more the human heart!	11 L'inferno e l'abisso sono aperti dinanzi a Dio; quanto più il cuore dei figli degli uomini?
12 The mocker does not care to be reprimanded, and wil not choose the wise as companions.	12 L'uomo corrotto non ama chi lo corregge, ne va dai saggi.
13 Glad heart means happy face, where the heart is sad the spirit is broken.	13 Il cuore pieno di gioia rende ilare il volto; nella tristezza dell'animo lo spirito è abbattuto.
14 The heart of the wise seeks knowledge, a fool's mouth feeds on fol y.	14 Il cuore del saggio cerca d'imparare, e la bocca degli stolti si pasce d'ignoranza.
15 For the poor every day is evil, for the joyous heart it is always festival time.	15 I giorni del povero son tutti cattivi; ma l'animo tranquillo è come convito perenne.
16 Better to have little and with it fear of Yahweh than immense wealth and with it anxiety.	16 Meglio poca roba col timore del Signore, che immensi tesori che non saziano.
17 Better a dish of herbs when love is there than a fattened ox and hatred to go with it.	17 Meglio essere invitato con amore a mangiare verdura, che a mangiar con odio un vitello grasso.
18 The hot-headed provokes disputes, the equable al ays dissension.	18 L'uomo iridando fa nascere le risse; il paziente estingue le già nate.
19 The way of the lazy is like a thorny hedge, the path of the honest is a broad highway.	19 La via dei pigri è come siepe di spine; la via dei giusti non ha inciampo.
20 A wise child is a father's joy; only a brute despises his mother.	20 Il figlio saggio è la gioia del padre; l'uomo stolto disprezza la sua madre.
21 Fol y appeals to someone without sense, a person of understanding goes straight forward.	21 La stoltezza è una gioia per lo stolto; ma l'uomo prudente va diritto per la sua via.
22 Without deliberation plans come to nothing. Plans succeed where counsellors are many.	22 Vanno in fumo i disegni dove non c'è consiglio, riescono dove son molti i consiglieri.
23 Anyone who has a ready answer has joy too: how satisfying is the apt reply!	23 L'uomo s'allieta di sua bella risposta: ottima è la parola detta a tempo.
24 For the prudent, the path of life leads upwards thus avoiding Sheol below.	24 La via della vita sta in alto per l'intelligente e gli fa evitare il profondo inferno.
25 Yahweh pulls down the house of the proud, but he keeps the widow's boundaries intact.	25 Il Signore demolirà le case dei superbi, e renderà stabili i termini (del campo) della vedova.
26 Wicked scheming is abhorrent to Yahweh, but words that are kind are pure.	26 I cattivi pensieri sono l'abbominazione del Signore: le parole caste sono bellissime, e da lui approvate.
27 Craving for dishonest gain brings trouble on a house, hatred of bribery earns life.	27 Chi va dietro all'avarizia mette in scompiglio la propria casa; chi odia i regali avrà vita. Mediante la misericordia e la fede si purificano i peccati, ma è pel timore del Signore che l'uomo schiva il male.
28 The heart of the upright reflects before answering, the mouth of the wicked spews out wickedness.	28 La mente del giusto mette ogni sua cura nell'obbedienza; la bocca degli empi rigurgita di malvagità.
29 Yahweh keeps his distance from the wicked, but he listens to the prayers of the upright.	29 Il Signore sta lontano dagli empi, ed esaudirà le preghiere dei giusti.
30 A kindly glance gives joy to the heart, good news lends strength to the bones.	30 La luce degli occhi è la gioia dell'anima, e la buona fama impingua le ossa.
31 The ear attentive to wholesome correction finds itself at home in the company of the wise.	31 L'orecchio che ascolta le correzioni della vita dimorerà in mezzo ai sapienti.
32 Whoever rejects correction lacks self-respect, whoever accepts reproof grows in understanding.	32 Chi rigetta la correzione odia l'anima sua, chi dà retta alle riprensioni è padrone del cuore.
33 The fear of Yahweh is a school of wisdom, before there can be glory, there must be humility.	33 Il timor del Signore è disciplina di sapienza e l'umiltà precede la gloria.
