1 A mild answer turns away wrath, sharp words stir up anger.	1 מענה רך ישיב חמה ודבר עצב יעלה אף
2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge welcome, the mouth of a fool spews fol y.	2 לשון חכמים תיטיב דעת ופי כסילים יביע אולת
3 The eyes of Yahweh are everywhere: observing the wicked and the good.	3 בכל מקום עיני יהוה צפות רעים וטובים
4 The tongue that soothes is a tree of life; the perverse tongue, a breaker of hearts.	4 מרפא לשון עץ חיים וסלף בה שבר ברוח
5 Only a fool spurns a father's discipline, whoever accepts correction is discreet.	5 אויל ינאץ מוסר אביו ושמר תוכחת יערם
6 In the house of the upright there is no lack of treasure, the earnings of the wicked are fraught withanxiety.	6 בית צדיק חסן רב ובתבואת רשע נעכרת
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge, not so the hearts of fools.	7 שפתי חכמים יזרו דעת ולב כסילים לא כן
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him is the prayer of the honest.	8 זבח רשעים תועבת יהוה ותפלת ישרים רצונו
9 The conduct of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, but he loves the person whose goal is uprightness.	9 תועבת יהוה דרך רשע ומרדף צדקה יאהב
10 Correction is severe for one who leaves the way; whoever hates being reprimanded wil die.	10 מוסר רע לעזב ארח שונא תוכחת ימות
11 Sheol and Perdition lie open to Yahweh; how much more the human heart!	11 שאול ואבדון נגד יהוה אף כי לבות בני אדם
12 The mocker does not care to be reprimanded, and wil not choose the wise as companions.	12 לא יאהב לץ הוכח לו אל חכמים לא ילך
13 Glad heart means happy face, where the heart is sad the spirit is broken.	13 לב שמח ייטב פנים ובעצבת לב רוח נכאה
14 The heart of the wise seeks knowledge, a fool's mouth feeds on fol y.	14 לב נבון יבקש דעת ופני כסילים ירעה אולת
15 For the poor every day is evil, for the joyous heart it is always festival time.	15 כל ימי עני רעים וטוב לב משתה תמיד
16 Better to have little and with it fear of Yahweh than immense wealth and with it anxiety.	16 טוב מעט ביראת יהוה מאוצר רב ומהומה בו
17 Better a dish of herbs when love is there than a fattened ox and hatred to go with it.	17 טוב ארחת ירק ואהבה שם משור אבוס ושנאה בו
18 The hot-headed provokes disputes, the equable al ays dissension.	18 איש חמה יגרה מדון וארך אפים ישקיט ריב
19 The way of the lazy is like a thorny hedge, the path of the honest is a broad highway.	19 דרך עצל כמשכת חדק וארח ישרים סללה
20 A wise child is a father's joy; only a brute despises his mother.	20 בן חכם ישמח אב וכסיל אדם בוזה אמו
21 Fol y appeals to someone without sense, a person of understanding goes straight forward.	21 אולת שמחה לחסר לב ואיש תבונה יישר לכת
22 Without deliberation plans come to nothing. Plans succeed where counsellors are many.	22 הפר מחשבות באין סוד וברב יועצים תקום
23 Anyone who has a ready answer has joy too: how satisfying is the apt reply!	23 שמחה לאיש במענה פיו ודבר בעתו מה טוב
24 For the prudent, the path of life leads upwards thus avoiding Sheol below.	24 ארח חיים למעלה למשכיל למען סור משאול מטה
25 Yahweh pulls down the house of the proud, but he keeps the widow's boundaries intact.	25 בית גאים יסח יהוה ויצב גבול אלמנה
26 Wicked scheming is abhorrent to Yahweh, but words that are kind are pure.	26 תועבת יהוה מחשבות רע וטהרים אמרי נעם
27 Craving for dishonest gain brings trouble on a house, hatred of bribery earns life.	27 עכר ביתו בוצע בצע ושונא מתנת יחיה
28 The heart of the upright reflects before answering, the mouth of the wicked spews out wickedness.	28 לב צדיק יהגה לענות ופי רשעים יביע רעות
29 Yahweh keeps his distance from the wicked, but he listens to the prayers of the upright.	29 רחוק יהוה מרשעים ותפלת צדיקים ישמע
30 A kindly glance gives joy to the heart, good news lends strength to the bones.	30 מאור עינים ישמח לב שמועה טובה תדשן עצם
31 The ear attentive to wholesome correction finds itself at home in the company of the wise.	31 אזן שמעת תוכחת חיים בקרב חכמים תלין
32 Whoever rejects correction lacks self-respect, whoever accepts reproof grows in understanding.	32 פורע מוסר מואס נפשו ושומע תוכחת קונה לב
33 The fear of Yahweh is a school of wisdom, before there can be glory, there must be humility.	33 יראת יהוה מוסר חכמה ולפני כבוד ענוה
