Proverbs 15

NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 A mild answer turns away wrath, sharp words stir up anger.	1 Szelíd felelet megtöri a haragot, sértő szó pedig szítja az indulatot.
2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge welcome, the mouth of a fool spews fol y.	2 A bölcsek nyelve ékessé teszi a tudományt, a balgák szája pedig dőreséget bugyogtat.
3 The eyes of Yahweh are everywhere: observing the wicked and the good.	3 Az Úr szeme mindenütt jelen van, a rosszakat is, a jókat is meglátja.
4 The tongue that soothes is a tree of life; the perverse tongue, a breaker of hearts.	4 A békülékeny nyelv az élet fája, a zabolátlan azonban összezúzza a lelket.
5 Only a fool spurns a father's discipline, whoever accepts correction is discreet.	5 A balga fitymálja atyja feddését, aki pedig intésre hallgat, csak okosabb lesz. A tökéletes jámborság a legnagyobb erősség, a gonoszok terveit pedig kiirtják.
6 In the house of the upright there is no lack of treasure, the earnings of the wicked are fraught withanxiety.	6 Az igaz háza igen nagy erősség, a gonoszok termésében pedig háborúság van.
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge, not so the hearts of fools.	7 A bölcsek ajka tudást hint, nem így azonban a balgák szíve!
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him is the prayer of the honest.	8 Utálja az Úr a gonoszok áldozatait, de kedvét leli az igazak imájában.
9 The conduct of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, but he loves the person whose goal is uprightness.	9 Utálja az Úr a gonosz útját, de szereti azt, aki az igazság útján jár.
10 Correction is severe for one who leaves the way; whoever hates being reprimanded wil die.	10 Súlyosan lakol, aki letér az élet útjáról, aki a dorgálást gyűlöli, az meghal.
11 Sheol and Perdition lie open to Yahweh; how much more the human heart!	11 Az alvilág s az enyészet helye tárva van az Úr előtt, mennyivel inkább az emberek fiainak szíve!
12 The mocker does not care to be reprimanded, and wil not choose the wise as companions.	12 Az arcátlan nem szívleli azt, aki meginti, oda sem néz a bölcsek tájékára.
13 Glad heart means happy face, where the heart is sad the spirit is broken.	13 A jókedv felderíti az arcot, a szív bánata pedig leveri a lelket.
14 The heart of the wise seeks knowledge, a fool's mouth feeds on fol y.	14 Az okos szíve tudást keres, a balgák szája pedig bolondságon legel.
15 For the poor every day is evil, for the joyous heart it is always festival time.	15 Bajos a szegény ember minden napja, de a derűs kedély olyan, mint a folytonos lakoma.
16 Better to have little and with it fear of Yahweh than immense wealth and with it anxiety.	16 Többet ér a kevés az Úr félelmében, mint a dús kincs nyugtalanság közepette.
17 Better a dish of herbs when love is there than a fattened ox and hatred to go with it.	17 Jobb, ha főzelékre hívnak szeretettel, mint hizlalt tulokra gyűlölettel.
18 The hot-headed provokes disputes, the equable al ays dissension.	18 Az indulatos ember civódást szít, a szelíd ellenben a viszályt lecsendesíti.
19 The way of the lazy is like a thorny hedge, the path of the honest is a broad highway.	19 A lusta ösvénye olyan, mint a töviskerítés, a szorgosak útja pedig egyenletes.
20 A wise child is a father's joy; only a brute despises his mother.	20 A bölcs fiú örömet szerez atyjának, a balga ember pedig megveti anyját.
21 Fol y appeals to someone without sense, a person of understanding goes straight forward.	21 A sületlenség kész öröm a balgának, az okos férfi pedig jól irányítja lépéseit.
22 Without deliberation plans come to nothing. Plans succeed where counsellors are many.	22 Tanácskozás nélkül a tervek meghiúsulnak, de ahol sok a tanácsadó, ott valóra válnak.
23 Anyone who has a ready answer has joy too: how satisfying is the apt reply!	23 Öröme telik az embernek a szája válaszában, s a kellő időben kimondott szó – de jó!
24 For the prudent, the path of life leads upwards thus avoiding Sheol below.	24 Felfelé visz az okos ember életútja, hogy elkerülje az alvilágot odalenn!
25 Yahweh pulls down the house of the proud, but he keeps the widow's boundaries intact.	25 Lebontja az Úr a kevélyek házát, és megerősíti az özvegy mezsgyéjét.
26 Wicked scheming is abhorrent to Yahweh, but words that are kind are pure.	26 Utálja az Úr a gonosz terveket, a tiszta beszéd azonban kedves előtte.
27 Craving for dishonest gain brings trouble on a house, hatred of bribery earns life.	27 Aki igaztalan haszonra törekszik, tönkreteszi házát, de aki megveti az ajándékot, életet talál. Könyörület és hűség eltörli a vétket, s az Úr félelme által bárki elkerüli a gonoszságot.
28 The heart of the upright reflects before answering, the mouth of the wicked spews out wickedness.	28 Az igaz szíve megfontolja a feleletet, a gonoszok szája pedig ontja a gazságot.
29 Yahweh keeps his distance from the wicked, but he listens to the prayers of the upright.	29 Távoltartja magát az Úr a gonoszoktól, de meghallgatja az igazak imáját.
30 A kindly glance gives joy to the heart, good news lends strength to the bones.	30 A barátságos tekintet felvidítja a lelket, és a kedvező hír erősíti a csontokat.
31 The ear attentive to wholesome correction finds itself at home in the company of the wise.	31 A fül, amely az üdvös intelmet befogadja, szívesen időzik a bölcsek körében!
32 Whoever rejects correction lacks self-respect, whoever accepts reproof grows in understanding.	32 Aki elveti az intelmet, lebecsüli önmagát, aki pedig hallgat a dorgálásra, belátásra jut.
33 The fear of Yahweh is a school of wisdom, before there can be glory, there must be humility.	33 Az Úr félelme a bölcsesség tudománya, s a dicsőség előtt alázatosság jár.
