1 A mild answer turns away wrath, sharp words stir up anger.	1 Una dolce risposta rompe l'ira: una parola cruda accende il furore.
2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge welcome, the mouth of a fool spews fol y.	2 La lingua dei saggj da ornamenta alla scienza: la bocca degli insensati versa stoltezza.
3 The eyes of Yahweh are everywhere: observing the wicked and the good.	3 In ogni luogo gli occhi del Signore contemplano i buoni, ed i cattivi.
4 The tongue that soothes is a tree of life; the perverse tongue, a breaker of hearts.	4 La lingua di pace o albero di vita: ma quella, che non ha freno infrange lo spirito.
5 Only a fool spurns a father's discipline, whoever accepts correction is discreet.	5 Lo stolto si burla della correzione di suo padre ma chi fa caso delle riprensioni diventerà più saggio. Nella abbondante giustizia si trova somma fortezza: ma gli empj co' lor disegni saranno schiantati.
6 In the house of the upright there is no lack of treasure, the earnings of the wicked are fraught withanxiety.	6 La casa del giusto è ben munita: i guadagni dell'empio son dissipati.
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge, not so the hearts of fools.	7 Le labbra dei saggi semineranno la scienza: il cuor degli stolti sarà variabile.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him is the prayer of the honest.	8 Il Signore ha in abbominazione le vittime degli empj: i voti dei giusti lo placano.
9 The conduct of the wicked is abhorrent to Yahweh, but he loves the person whose goal is uprightness.	9 Il Signore ha in abbominazione la via dell'empio: chi segue la giustizia è amato da lui.
10 Correction is severe for one who leaves the way; whoever hates being reprimanded wil die.	10 La disciplina è ingrata a colui, che abbandona la via della vita: chi odia la riprensione perirà.
11 Sheol and Perdition lie open to Yahweh; how much more the human heart!	11 L'inferno, e la perdizione sono sotto gli occhi del Signore: quanto più i cuori degli uomini?
12 The mocker does not care to be reprimanded, and wil not choose the wise as companions.	12 L'uomo corrotto non ama chi lo corregge: e non va in cerca dei saggi.
13 Glad heart means happy face, where the heart is sad the spirit is broken.	13 Il cuore allegro esilara il volto: la tristezza dell'anima abbatte lo spirito.
14 The heart of the wise seeks knowledge, a fool's mouth feeds on fol y.	14 Il cuore del saggio cerca di imparare: e la bocca degli stolti si pasce di ignoranza.
15 For the poor every day is evil, for the joyous heart it is always festival time.	15 Tutti i giorni del povero son cattivi: ma la mente tranquilla è come un perenne convito.
16 Better to have little and with it fear of Yahweh than immense wealth and with it anxiety.	16 Val più un pocolino col timor del Signore, che i grandi tesori, i quali non saziano.
17 Better a dish of herbs when love is there than a fattened ox and hatred to go with it.	17 Val più essere invitato con amore a mangiar dell'erbe, che essere invitato di mala grazia ad un grasso vitello.
18 The hot-headed provokes disputes, the equable al ays dissension.	18 L'uomo iracondo fa nascere le risse: il paziente spegne quelle, che sono nate.
19 The way of the lazy is like a thorny hedge, the path of the honest is a broad highway.	19 La strada dei pigri è quasi cinta di spine; la via de' giusti è senza inciampo.
20 A wise child is a father's joy; only a brute despises his mother.	20 Il figliuol saggio è la letizia del padre: l'uomo stolto vilipende la propria madre.
21 Fol y appeals to someone without sense, a person of understanding goes straight forward.	21 Lo stolto gode di sua stoltezza: ma l'uomo prudente è circospetto ne' suoi andamenti.
22 Without deliberation plans come to nothing. Plans succeed where counsellors are many.	22 Dove il consiglio manca vanno in fumo i desegni: ma acquistan fermezza dove sono molti consiglieri.
23 Anyone who has a ready answer has joy too: how satisfying is the apt reply!	23 L'uomo si affeziona alla opinione detta da lui; ma ottima parola è quella, che è opportuna.
24 For the prudent, the path of life leads upwards thus avoiding Sheol below.	24 L'uomo intelligente va in alto pel sentiero della vita per ischivare l'abisso dell'inferno.
25 Yahweh pulls down the house of the proud, but he keeps the widow's boundaries intact.	25 Il Signore demolirà le case de superbi: e stabili farà i termini (del podere) della vedova.
26 Wicked scheming is abhorrent to Yahweh, but words that are kind are pure.	26 I mali pensieri souo l'abbominazione del Signore: i discorsi casti sono accettissimi, e approvati da lui.
27 Craving for dishonest gain brings trouble on a house, hatred of bribery earns life.	27 Chi va dietro all'avarizia mette in iscompiglio la propria casa: colui, che odia i regali, avrà vita. Mediante la misericordia, e la fede si purgano i peccati, e mediante il timor del Signore, l'uomo schiverà il male.
28 The heart of the upright reflects before answering, the mouth of the wicked spews out wickedness.	28 La mente del giusto fa suo stadio dell'ubbidienza: la bocca degli empj ridonda di malvagità.
29 Yahweh keeps his distance from the wicked, but he listens to the prayers of the upright.	29 Il Signore va lungi dagli empj: ed esaudirà le preghiere de' giusti.
30 A kindly glance gives joy to the heart, good news lends strength to the bones.	30 La luce degli occhi è letizia dell'anima: e la buona fama impingua le ossa.
31 The ear attentive to wholesome correction finds itself at home in the company of the wise.	31 L'orecchio, che ascolta le riprensioni salutevoli, avrà luogo nel consesso de' saggj.
32 Whoever rejects correction lacks self-respect, whoever accepts reproof grows in understanding.	32 Chi rigetta la disciplina, odia l'anima propria; ma chi piega il capo alle riprensioni, è padron del suo cuore.
33 The fear of Yahweh is a school of wisdom, before there can be glory, there must be humility.	33 Il timor del Signore è maestro di sapienza: e alla gloria va innanzi l'umiltà.
