NEW JERUSALEMVULGATA
1 [For the choirmaster Of the sons of Korah Psalm] Hear this, all nations, listen, al who dwel on earth,1 Psalmus Asaph. Deus deorum Dominus locutus est,
et vocavit terram a solis ortu usque ad occasum.
2 people high and low, rich and poor alike!2 Ex Sion species decoris ejus :
3 My lips have wisdom to utter, my heart good sense to whisper.3 Deus manifeste veniet ;
Deus noster, et non silebit.
Ignis in conspectu ejus exardescet ;
et in circuitu ejus tempestas valida.
4 I listen careful y to a proverb, I set my riddle to the music of the harp.4 Advocabit cælum desursum, et terram,
discernere populum suum.
5 Why should I be afraid in times of trouble? Malice dogs me and hems me in.5 Congregate illi sanctos ejus,
qui ordinant testamentum ejus super sacrificia.
6 They trust in their wealth, and boast of the profusion of their riches.6 Et annuntiabunt cæli justitiam ejus,
quoniam Deus judex est.
7 But no one can ever redeem himself or pay his own ransom to God,7 Audi, populus meus, et loquar ;
Israël, et testificabor tibi :
Deus, Deus tuus ego sum.
8 the price for himself is too high; it can never be8 Non in sacrificiis tuis arguam te ;
holocausta autem tua in conspectu meo sunt semper.
9 that he wil live on for ever and avoid the sight of the abyss.9 Non accipiam de domo tua vitulos,
neque de gregibus tuis hircos :
10 For he wil see the wise also die no less than the fool and the brute, and leave their wealth behind forothers.10 quoniam meæ sunt omnes feræ silvarum,
jumenta in montibus, et boves.
11 For ever no home but their tombs, their dwel ing-place age after age, though they gave their name towhole territories.11 Cognovi omnia volatilia cæli,
et pulchritudo agri mecum est.
12 In prosperity people lose their good sense, they become no better than dumb animals.12 Si esuriero, non dicam tibi :
meus est enim orbis terræ et plenitudo ejus.
13 So they go on in their self-assurance, right up to the end they are content with their lot.Pause13 Numquid manducabo carnes taurorum ?
aut sanguinem hircorum potabo ?
14 They are penned in Sheol like sheep, Death wil lead them to pasture, and those who are honest wilrule over them. In the morning al trace of them wil be gone, Sheol wil be their home.14 Immola Deo sacrificium laudis,
et redde Altissimo vota tua.
15 But my soul God wil ransom from the clutches of Sheol, and wil snatch me up.Pause15 Et invoca me in die tribulationis :
eruam te, et honorificabis me.
16 Do not be overawed when someone gets rich, and lives in ever greater splendour;16 Peccatori autem dixit Deus : Quare tu enarras justitias meas ?
et assumis testamentum meum per os tuum ?
17 when he dies he wil take nothing with him, his wealth wil not go down with him.17 Tu vero odisti disciplinam,
et projecisti sermones meos retrorsum.
18 Though he pampered himself while he lived -- and people praise you for looking after yourself-18 Si videbas furem, currebas cum eo ;
et cum adulteris portionem tuam ponebas.
19 he will go to join the ranks of his ancestors, who wil never again see the light.19 Os tuum abundavit malitia,
et lingua tua concinnabat dolos.
20 In prosperity people lose their good sense, they become no better than dumb animals.20 Sedens adversus fratrem tuum loquebaris,
et adversus filium matris tuæ ponebas scandalum.
21 Hæc fecisti, et tacui.
Existimasti inique quod ero tui similis :
arguam te, et statuam contra faciem tuam.
22 Intelligite hæc, qui obliviscimini Deum,
nequando rapiat, et non sit qui eripiat.
23 Sacrificium laudis honorificabit me,
et illic iter quo ostendam illi salutare Dei.
