1 [Song Psalm Of the sons of Korah] Great is Yahweh and most worthy of praise in the city of our God,the holy mountain,	1 - Al corifeo. De' figliuoli di Core. Salmo.
2 towering in beauty, the joy of the whole world: Mount Zion in the heart of the north, the settlement ofthe great king;	2 Udite questo, voi popoli tutti, prestate orecchio, voi tutti che abitate il mondo,
3 God himself among its palaces has proved himself its bulwark.	3 figli del volgo e figli di nobili, ricchi e poveri insieme.
4 For look, kings made al iance, together they advanced;	4 La mia bocca proferirà sapienzae la meditazione del mio cuore [genererà] il senno.
5 without a second glance, when they saw, they panicked and fled away.	5 Piegherò a una parabola il mio orecchio, esporrò sulla cetra il mio enigma.
6 Trembling seized them on the spot, pains like those of a woman in labour;	6 Perchè temerei nel giorno dell'avversità, [quando] l'iniquità dei miei insidiatori mi circonda,
7 it was the east wind, that wrecker of ships from Tarshish.	7 quali confidano nella lor forza, e nella moltitudine di lor ricchezze si gloriano?
8 What we had heard we saw for ourselves in the city of our God, in the city of Yahweh Sabaoth, whichGod has established for ever.Pause	8 Nessun uomo in alcun modo può riscattar suo fratello, nè pagherà mai a Dio la propria quietanza,
9 We reflect on your faithful love, God, in your temple!	9 il prezzo di riscatto per l'anima sua, [e invano] si travaglierà in eterno.
10 Both your name and your praise, God, are over the whole wide world. Your right hand is ful of savingjustice,	10 Vivrebbe egli dunque sino alla fine,
11 Mount Zion rejoices, the daughters of Judah delight because of your saving justice.	11 e non vedrebbe lui la morte, mentre vede i saggi morire?[No; ma] a un tempo l'insensato e lo stolto perirannoe lasceranno ad altri le loro ricchezze,
12 Go round Zion, walk right through her, count her bastions,	12 e i loro sepolcri saran le lor case in eternoe la dimora loro d'età in età, [quantunque] abbian imposto i loro nomi alle loro terre.
13 admire her walls, examine her palaces, to tel future generations	13 L'uomo mentr'è in auge non ha senno; si mette al paro de' giumenti irragionevolie diviene simile ad essi.
14 that such is God; our God for ever and ever, he is our guide!	14 Questa è la sorte, un laccio per essi, e [tuttavia] se [ne] compiaccion dipoi nel lor ragionare!
	15 A mo' di pecore son cacciati negli Inferi, e la morte li pascerà. E domineranno su loro i giusti, al mattino, e [ogni] aiuto cesserà per loro negli Inferi, dopo la lor gloria.
	16 Ma Dio riscatterà l'anima mia dalla mano degli Inferi, quando mi prenderà [con sè].
	17 Non temere quando un uom divien ricco, e si accresce lo splendore della sua casa.
	18 Perchè morendo non prenderà seco tutto questo, nè scenderà con lui il suo splendore.
	19 L'anima sua invero sarà benedetta nella sua vitae ti loderà quando gli farai del bene;
	20 [ma alla fine] andrà a raggiunger la generazione de' suoi padri, e in eterno non vedrà la luce.
	21 L'uomo mentr'è in auge, non ha senno; si mette al paro de' giumenti irragionevoli e divien simile ad essi.
