[Song Psalm Of the sons of Korah] Great is Yahweh and most worthy of praise in the city of our God,the holy mountain,1 A psalm of the Korahites. A song.
towering in beauty, the joy of the whole world: Mount Zion in the heart of the north, the settlement ofthe great king;2 Great is the LORD and highly praised in the city of our God: The holy mountain,
God himself among its palaces has proved himself its bulwark.3 fairest of heights, the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, the heights of Zaphon, the city of the great king.
For look, kings made al iance, together they advanced;4 God is its citadel, renowned as a stronghold.
without a second glance, when they saw, they panicked and fled away.5 See! The kings assembled, together they invaded.
Trembling seized them on the spot, pains like those of a woman in labour;6 When they looked they were astounded; terrified, they were put to flight!
it was the east wind, that wrecker of ships from Tarshish.7 Trembling seized them there, anguish, like a woman's labor,
What we had heard we saw for ourselves in the city of our God, in the city of Yahweh Sabaoth, whichGod has established for ever.Pause8 As when the east wind wrecks the ships of Tarshish!
We reflect on your faithful love, God, in your temple!9 What we had heard we now see in the city of the LORD of hosts, In the city of our God, founded to last forever. Selah
Both your name and your praise, God, are over the whole wide world. Your right hand is ful of savingjustice,10 O God, within your temple we ponder your steadfast love.
Mount Zion rejoices, the daughters of Judah delight because of your saving justice.11 Like your name, O God, your praise reaches the ends of the earth. Your right hand is fully victorious.
Go round Zion, walk right through her, count her bastions,12 Mount Zion is glad! The cities of Judah rejoice because of your saving deeds!
admire her walls, examine her palaces, to tel future generations13 Go about Zion, walk all around it, note the number of its towers.
that such is God; our God for ever and ever, he is our guide!14 Consider the ramparts, examine its citadels, that you may tell future generations:
"Yes, so mighty is God, our God who leads us always!"
