Al eluia! Praise Yahweh -- it is good to sing psalms to our God -- how pleasant to praise him. | 1 Hallelujah! How good to celebrate our God in song; how sweet to give fitting praise. |
Yahweh, Builder of Jerusalem! He gathers together the exiles of Israel, | 2 The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem, gathers the dispersed of Israel, |
healing the broken-hearted and binding up their wounds; | 3 Heals the brokenhearted, binds up their wounds, |
he counts out the number of the stars, and gives each one of them a name. | 4 Numbers all the stars, calls each of them by name. |
Our Lord is great, al -powerful, his wisdom beyond al telling. | 5 Great is our Lord, vast in power, with wisdom beyond measure. |
Yahweh sustains the poor, and humbles the wicked to the ground. | 6 The LORD sustains the poor, but casts the wicked to the ground. |
Sing to Yahweh in thanksgiving, play the harp for our God. | 7 Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; with the lyre celebrate our God, |
He veils the sky with clouds, and provides the earth with rain, makes grass grow on the hills andplants for people to use, | 8 Who covers the heavens with clouds, provides rain for the earth, makes grass sprout on the mountains, |
gives fodder to cattle and to young ravens when they cry. | 9 Who gives animals their food and ravens what they cry for. |
He takes no delight in the power of horses, no pleasure in human sturdiness; | 10 God takes no delight in the strength of horses, no pleasure in the runner's stride. |
his pleasure is in those who fear him, in those who hope in his faithful love. | 11 Rather the LORD takes pleasure in the devout, those who await his faithful care. |
Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem, Zion, praise your God. | 12 Glorify the LORD, Jerusalem; Zion, offer praise to your God, |
For he gives strength to the bars of your gates, he blesses your children within you, | 13 Who has strengthened the bars of your gates, blessed your children within you, |
he maintains the peace of your frontiers, gives you your fil of finest wheat. | 14 Brought peace to your borders, and filled you with finest wheat. |
He sends his word to the earth, his command runs quickly, | 15 The LORD sends a command to earth; his word runs swiftly! |
he spreads the snow like flax, strews hoarfrost like ashes, | 16 Thus snow is spread like wool, frost is scattered like ash, |
he sends ice-crystals like breadcrumbs, and who can withstand that cold? | 17 Hail is dispersed like crumbs; before such cold the waters freeze. |
When he sends his word it thaws them, when he makes his wind blow, the waters are unstopped. | 18 Again he sends his word and they melt; the wind is unleashed and the waters flow. |
He reveals his word to Jacob, his statutes and judgements to Israel. | 19 The LORD also proclaims his word to Jacob, decrees and laws to Israel. |
For no other nation has he done this, no other has known his judgements. | 20 God has not done this for other nations; of such laws they know nothing. Hallelujah! |
