¹ Silver has its mines, and gold a place for refining.	¹ Certo, vi sono miniere per l'argento, e per l'oro luoghi dove viene raffinato.
² Iron is extracted from the earth, the smelted rocks yield copper.	² Il ferro viene estratto dal suolo, e la pietra fusa libera il rame.
³ Man makes an end of darkness, to the utmost limit he digs the black rock in shadow dark as death.	³ L'uomo pone un limite alle tenebre, e fruga fino all'estremo confine la pietra oscura e buia.
⁴ Foreigners bore into ravines in unfrequented places, swinging suspended far from human beings.	⁴ Perfora gallerie inaccessibili, dimenticate dai pedoni; oscilla sospeso, lontano dall'uomo.

¹⁷ Neither gold nor glass compares with her, for her, a vase of fine gold would be no exchange,	¹⁷ Non la pareggia l'oro e il cristallo, né si scambia con vasi di oro puro.
¹⁸ let alone coral or crystal: better go fishing for Wisdom than for pearls!	¹⁸ Coralli e perle non meritano menzione; il possesso della sapienza è migliore delle perle.
¹⁹ Topaz from Cush is worthless in comparison, and gold, even refined, is valueless.	¹⁹ Non la eguaglia il topazio di Etiopia, non si può scambiare a peso con l'oro puro.
