1 'If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck a mortal blow, his blood may not be avenged,	1 Se alguém roubar um boi ou uma ovelha, e os matar ou vender, restituirá cinco bois por um boi, e quatro ovelhas por uma ovelha.
2 but if it happens after sunrise, his blood may be avenged. He wil make ful restitution; if he has not themeans, he will be sold to pay for what he has stolen.	2 Se um ladrão, encontrado a forçar a porta ou a excavar a parede da casa, for ferido e morrer, aquele que o feriu não será réu de morte.
3 If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession, be it ox, donkey or animal from the flock, he wilpay back double.	3 Se, porém, fez isto depois de ter nascido o sol, cometeu um homicídio, e ele mesmo morerrá. Se (o ladrão) não tiver com que pague o furto, será vendido ele mesmo.
4 'If anyone puts his animals out to graze in a field or vineyard and lets them graze in someone else'sfield, he wil make restitution for the part of the field that has been grazed on the basis of its yield. But if he haslet the whole field be grazed, he wil make restitution in proportion to the best crop of the field or vineyard.	4 Se aquilo que ele roubou for encontrado ainda vivo junto dele, quer seja um boi, quer seja um jumento, quer seja uma ovelha, restituirá o dobro.
5 'If a fire breaks out, setting light to thorn bushes and burning stacks, standing corn or the field as aresult, the person who started the fire wil make ful restitution.	5 Se alguém danificar um campo ou uma vinha, deixando que o seu gado ande a pastar nos campos alheios, dará o melhor que tiver no seu campo ou na sua vinha, segundo a avaliação do dano.
6 'If anyone entrusts money or goods to someone else's keeping and these are stolen from that person'shouse, the thief, if he can be discovered, wil repay double.	6 Se um fogo, alastrando pelos espinhos, se pegar às medas dos trigos ou às searas que ainda estão em pé nos campos, pagará o dano aquele que tiver acendido o fogo.
7 Should the thief not be discovered, the owner of the house will come into the presence of God, todeclare that he has not laid hands on the other person's property.	7 Se alguém confiar a um amigo dinheiro ou qualquer objecto para guardar, e se for roubado aquele que os recebeu, o ladrão, quando encontrado, pagará o dobro.
8 'In every case of law-breaking involving an ox, donkey, animal from the flock, clothing or lost propertyof any sort, the ownership of which is disputed, both parties wil lay their case before God. The party whom Godpronounces guilty wil pay back double to the other.	8 Se o ladrão se não encontrar, o dono da casa será obrigado a comparecer diante de Deus, e jurará que não estendeu a mão ao bem do seu próximo
9 'If anyone entrusts a donkey, ox, animal from the flock or any other animal to someone else's keeping,and it dies or breaks a limb or is carried off without anyone seeing,	9 para o defraudar nem num boi nem num jumento, nem numa ovelha, nem num vestido, nem em qualquer outra coisa que haja desaparecido: a causa de ambos se levará ante os juízes, e o que for condenado restituirá o dobro ao seu próximo.
10 an oath by Yahweh wil decide between the two parties whether the keeper has laid hands on theother's property or not. The owner wil take what remains, the keeper wil not have to make good the loss.	10 Se alguém der a guardar ao seu próximo um jumento, um boi, uma ovelha, ou outro qualquer animal, e este morrer ou se estropiar, ou for apanhado pelos inimigos, sem que ninguém tenha visto,
11 Only if the animal has been stolen from him, will he make restitution to the owner.	11 intervirá o juramento, que ele não estendeu a mão ao bem do seu próximo, e o dono aceitará o juramento, e o outro não será obrigado a indemnizar.
12 If it has been savaged by a wild animal, he must bring the savaged remains of the animal asevidence, and wil then not have to make restitution.	12 Mas, se o animal foi furtado, o depositário indemnizará o dono do prejuízo.
13 'If anyone borrows an animal from someone else, and it breaks a limb or dies in the owner's absence,he wil make ful restitution.	13 Se foi devorado por uma fera, levar-lhe-á o que resta, e não será obrigado a restituir.
14 But if the animal's owner has been present, he wil not have to make good the loss. If the owner hashired it out, he wil get the cost of its hire.	14 O que pedir ao seu próximo emprestado algum animal e ele vier a estropiar-se ou a morrer na ausência do dono, será obrigado a restituir;
15 'If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged to be married, he wil pay her bride-price and make herhis wife.	15 porém, se o dono se achou presente, não restituirá; se o empréstimo foi feito mediante certa quantia, pagar-se-á o estipulado.
16 If her father absolutely refuses to let him have her, he will pay a sum equivalent to the bride-price of avirgin.	16 Se alguém seduzir uma donzela, que ainda não está desposada, e dormir com ela, dotá-la-á e tomá-la-á por mulher.
17 'You wil not al ow a sorceress to live.	17 Se o pai da donzela não lha quiser dar, pagará tanto em dinheiro, quanto as donzelas costumam receber em dote.
18 'Anyone who has intercourse with an animal will be put to death.	18 Não deixarás viver os feiticeiros.
19 'Anyone who sacrifices to other gods wil be put under the curse of destruction.	19 Aquele que pecar com uma besta seja punido de morte.
20 'You wil not molest or oppress aliens, for you yourselves were once aliens in Egypt.	20 Aquele que sacrificar aos deuses, e não ao Senhor, será exterminado.
21 You wil not il -treat widows or orphans;	21 Não molestarás nem afligirás o estrangeiro, por que também vós fostes estrangeiros na terra do Egipto.
22 if you il -treat them in any way and they make an appeal to me for help, I shal certainly hear theirappeal,	22 Não fareis mal algum à viúva nem ao orfão.
23 my anger wil be roused and I shal put you to the sword; then your own wives will be widows andyour own children orphans.	23 Se os ofenderdes, eles gritarão por mim, eu ouvirei o seu clamor,
24 'If you lend money to any of my people, to anyone poor among you, you wil not play the usurer withhim: you will not demand interest from him.	24 o meu furor se acenderá e eu vos exterminarei à espada, e as vossas mulheres ficarão viúvas, e os vossos filhos órfãos.
25 'If you take someone's cloak in pledge, you wil return it to him at sunset.	25 Se emprestares dinheiro ao meu povo pobre, que habita contigo, não o apertarás como um exactor, nem o oprimirás com usuras.
26 It is al the covering he has; it is the cloak he wraps his body in; what else wil he sleep in? If heappeals to me, I shall listen. At least with me he will find compassion!	26 Se receberes do teu próximo, em penhor, a sua capa, tu lha darás antes do sol posto,
27 'You wil not revile God, nor curse your people's leader.	27 porque ela é a sua única cobertura, o único agasalho da sua carne, nem tem outro com que dormir. Se ele clamar por mim, ouvi-lo-ei, porque sou misericordioso.
28 'Do not be slow about making offerings from your abundance and your surplus. You wil give me thefirst-born of your children;	28 Não dirás mal dos juízes, e não amaldiçoarás o príncipe do teu povo.
29 you will do the same with your flocks and herds. For the first seven days the first-born wil stay withits mother; on the eighth day you wil give it to me.	29 Não tardarás em pagar os teus dizimos e as tuas primícias, e dar-me-ás o primogénito de teus filhos.
30 'You must be people consecrated to me. You wil not eat the meat of anything in the countrysidesavaged by wild animals; you wil throw it to the dogs.'	30 O mesmo farás relativamente aos bois e às ovelhas: esteja (o primogênito) sete dias com sua mãe, e no oitavo dia oferecer-mo-ás.
	31 Vós sereis para mim homens santos; não comereis carne despedaçada (encontrada) nos campos, mas deitá-la-eis aos cães.
