Exodus 22

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 'If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck a mortal blow, his blood may not be avenged,	1 Se il ladro è trovato mentre sta facendo una breccia nel muro ed è colpito a morte, non ci sarà per lui vendetta di sangue;
2 but if it happens after sunrise, his blood may be avenged. He wil make ful restitution; if he has not themeans, he will be sold to pay for what he has stolen.	2 se il sole si era già alzato su di lui, ci sarà per lui la vendetta di sangue. Il ladro dovrà pagare, e se non ha di che pagare, lo si venderà per il suo furto.
3 If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession, be it ox, donkey or animal from the flock, he wilpay back double.	3 Se si troverà in sua mano il furto, sia di un bue che di un asino o di un agnello ancora vivi, pagherà il doppio.
4 'If anyone puts his animals out to graze in a field or vineyard and lets them graze in someone else'sfield, he wil make restitution for the part of the field that has been grazed on the basis of its yield. But if he haslet the whole field be grazed, he wil make restitution in proportion to the best crop of the field or vineyard.	4 Se uno fa pascolare in un campo o in una vigna e manda il suo bestiame a pascolare in un campo altrui, pagherà con il meglio del suo campo e con il meglio della sua vigna.
5 'If a fire breaks out, setting light to thorn bushes and burning stacks, standing corn or the field as aresult, the person who started the fire wil make ful restitution.	5 Se esce del fuoco da cespugli spinosi e sono bruciati covoni o spighe o campo, chi ha procurato l'incendio deve pagare ciò che è stato bruciato.
6 'If anyone entrusts money or goods to someone else's keeping and these are stolen from that person'shouse, the thief, if he can be discovered, wil repay double.	6 Se uno dà al suo prossimo denaro od oggetti da custodire e sono rubati dalla casa di quel tale, se si trova il ladro, pagherà il doppio;
7 Should the thief not be discovered, the owner of the house will come into the presence of God, todeclare that he has not laid hands on the other person's property.	7 se non si trova il ladro, il padrone della casa si avvicinerà a Dio attestando che non ha messo la sua mano sui beni del suo prossimo.
8 'In every case of law-breaking involving an ox, donkey, animal from the flock, clothing or lost propertyof any sort, the ownership of which is disputed, both parties wil lay their case before God. The party whom Godpronounces guilty wil pay back double to the other.	8 Per qualsiasi reato, di bue, di asino, di agnello, di vestito, di ogni cosa smarrita di cui si possa dire: "E' quello", la causa delle due parti andrà fino a Dio: quello che Dio avrà dichiarato reo dovrà pagare il doppio al suo prossimo.
9 'If anyone entrusts a donkey, ox, animal from the flock or any other animal to someone else's keeping,and it dies or breaks a limb or is carried off without anyone seeing,	9 Se uno dà al suo prossimo un asino o un bue o un agnello o qualsiasi animale da custodire e questo muore, o si rompe qualcosa o è rapito senza che nessuno veda,
10 an oath by Yahweh wil decide between the two parties whether the keeper has laid hands on theother's property or not. The owner wil take what remains, the keeper wil not have to make good the loss.	10 ci sarà un giuramento del Signore tra le due parti, per dichiarare che il depositario non ha steso la sua mano sui beni del suo prossimo: il padrone accetterà e l'altro non pagherà.
11 Only if the animal has been stolen from him, will he make restitution to the owner.	11 Ma se la bestia è stata rubata presso di lui, pagherà al padrone:
12 If it has been savaged by a wild animal, he must bring the savaged remains of the animal asevidence, and wil then not have to make restitution.	12 se la bestia è stata sbranata, gli porterà la testimonianza della bestia sbranata: non pagherà.
13 'If anyone borrows an animal from someone else, and it breaks a limb or dies in the owner's absence,he wil make ful restitution.	13 Se uno richiede al suo prossimo un animale e questo si ferisce o muore e il suo padrone non è con lui, dovrà pagare.
14 But if the animal's owner has been present, he wil not have to make good the loss. If the owner hashired it out, he wil get the cost of its hire.	14 Se il suo padrone è con lui, non paga; se era dato a nolo, gli viene dato il prezzo per il nolo.
15 'If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged to be married, he wil pay her bride-price and make herhis wife.	15 Se uno seduce una vergine che non sia fidanzata e dorme con lei, verserà il prezzo perché diventi sua moglie.
16 If her father absolutely refuses to let him have her, he will pay a sum equivalent to the bride-price of avirgin.	16 Se il padre di lei rifiuta di dargliela, egli pagherà in denaro secondo il prezzo nuziale delle vergini.
17 'You wil not al ow a sorceress to live.	17 Non lascerai vivere la maga.
18 'Anyone who has intercourse with an animal will be put to death.	18 Chiunque si accoppia con una bestia sarà messo a morte.
19 'Anyone who sacrifices to other gods wil be put under the curse of destruction.	19 Chi sacrifica agli dèi, oltre al solo Signore, sarà votato all'anatema.
20 'You wil not molest or oppress aliens, for you yourselves were once aliens in Egypt.	20 Non molesterai lo straniero né l'opprimerai, perché foste stranieri nella terra d'Egitto.
21 You wil not il -treat widows or orphans;	21 Non maltratterai una vedova né un orfano.
22 if you il -treat them in any way and they make an appeal to me for help, I shal certainly hear theirappeal,	22 Se lo maltratti e grida verso di me, ascolterò il suo grido:
23 my anger wil be roused and I shal put you to the sword; then your own wives will be widows andyour own children orphans.	23 la mia ira si infiammerà e vi ucciderò di spada e le vostre mogli saranno vedove e i vostri figli orfani.
24 'If you lend money to any of my people, to anyone poor among you, you wil not play the usurer withhim: you will not demand interest from him.	24 Se tu presti denaro al mio popolo, al povero che è con te, non ti comporterai come un creditore: non gli imporrete interesse.
25 'If you take someone's cloak in pledge, you wil return it to him at sunset.	25 Se prendi in pegno un mantello del tuo prossimo, glielo restituirai al tramonto del sole,
26 It is al the covering he has; it is the cloak he wraps his body in; what else wil he sleep in? If heappeals to me, I shall listen. At least with me he will find compassion!	26 perché quello è la sua sola coperta, è il mantello per la sua pelle, con il quale dormirà: altrimenti, quando griderà a me, lo ascolterò, perché io sono misericordioso.
27 'You wil not revile God, nor curse your people's leader.	27 Non bestemmierai Dio né maledirai un capo del tuo popolo.
28 'Do not be slow about making offerings from your abundance and your surplus. You wil give me thefirst-born of your children;	28 Non tarderai a fare l'offerta di ciò che riempie il tuo granaio e di ciò che cola dal tuo frantoio. Mi darai il primogenito dei tuoi figli.
29 you will do the same with your flocks and herds. For the first seven days the first-born wil stay withits mother; on the eighth day you wil give it to me.	29 Così farai del tuo bue e della tua pecora: sette giorni sarà con sua madre e all'ottavo giorno lo darai a me.
30 'You must be people consecrated to me. You wil not eat the meat of anything in the countrysidesavaged by wild animals; you wil throw it to the dogs.'	30 Sarete per me uomini santi: non mangerete carne sbranata alla campagna, la getterete al cane.
