Exodus 22

1 'If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck a mortal blow, his blood may not be avenged,	1 Se uno ruba un bue o una pecora e li ammazza o li vende, renderà cinque buoi per un bue, e quattro pecore per una pecora.
2 but if it happens after sunrise, his blood may be avenged. He wil make ful restitution; if he has not themeans, he will be sold to pay for what he has stolen.	2 Se il ladro è colto a sforzare la porta, o a rompere la muraglia della casa, e muore per la ferita ricevuta, il feritore non è reo d'omicidio.
3 If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession, be it ox, donkey or animal from the flock, he wilpay back double.	3 Ma se il fatto avvenne dopo levato il sole, il feritore dovrà morire, perchè ha com messo omicidio. Se un ladro non ha con che pagare per il furto, sarà venduto lui.
4 'If anyone puts his animals out to graze in a field or vineyard and lets them graze in someone else'sfield, he wil make restitution for the part of the field that has been grazed on the basis of its yield. But if he haslet the whole field be grazed, he wil make restitution in proportion to the best crop of the field or vineyard.	4 Se la cosa rubata, bue, asino o pecora che sia, vien trovata nelle sue mani, egli restituirà il doppio.
5 'If a fire breaks out, setting light to thorn bushes and burning stacks, standing corn or the field as aresult, the person who started the fire wil make ful restitution.	5 Se uno farà del danno a un campo o a una vigna, la sciando che il suo giumento pascoli nei campi altrui, darà il meglio che abbia nel suo campo o nella vigna secondo la stima fatta del danno.
6 'If anyone entrusts money or goods to someone else's keeping and these are stolen from that person'shouse, the thief, if he can be discovered, wil repay double.	6 Se un fuoco, alargandosi, incontra delle spine e si appicca ai covoni delle biade, o ai grani che sono in piedi nei campi, risarcirà i danni chi avrà acceso il fuoco.
7 Should the thief not be discovered, the owner of the house will come into the presence of God, todeclare that he has not laid hands on the other person's property.	7 Se uno affida ad un amico del denaro, o altra cosa da custodire, e questa venga rubata dalla casa del depositario; il ladro, se si trova, renderà il doppio;
8 'In every case of law-breaking involving an ox, donkey, animal from the flock, clothing or lost propertyof any sort, the ownership of which is disputed, both parties wil lay their case before God. The party whom Godpronounces guilty wil pay back double to the other.	8 se poi il ladro non si trova, il padrone di casa deve comparire dinanzi ai giudici a giurare di non aver messa la mano sulla roba del suo prossimo,
9 'If anyone entrusts a donkey, ox, animal from the flock or any other animal to someone else's keeping,and it dies or breaks a limb or is carried off without anyone seeing,	9 per rubare un bove, o un asino, o una pecora, o un vestito o far del danno: sarà portata la causa dell'uno e dell'altro ai giudici, il condannato da questi renderà il doppio al suo prossimo.
10 an oath by Yahweh wil decide between the two parties whether the keeper has laid hands on theother's property or not. The owner wil take what remains, the keeper wil not have to make good the loss.	10 Se uno dà a guardare al suo prossimo un asino, un bue, una pecora o qualsiasi altra bestia, e questa muore, deperisce o vien rapita dai nemici, senza che vi sian testimoni,
11 Only if the animal has been stolen from him, will he make restitution to the owner.	11 interverrà il giuramento, per decidere se il custode abbia stesa la sua mano sulla roba del suo prossimo: il padrone accetterà il giuramento e l'altro non sarà tenuto alla restituzione.
12 If it has been savaged by a wild animal, he must bring the savaged remains of the animal asevidence, and wil then not have to make restitution.	12 Ma se la bestia gli è stata rubata, egli compenserà del danno il padrone;
13 'If anyone borrows an animal from someone else, and it breaks a limb or dies in the owner's absence,he wil make ful restitution.	13 se invece fu divorata da una fiera, porti al padrone ciò che ne resta e non sarà tenuto alla restituzione.
14 But if the animal's owner has been present, he wil not have to make good the loss. If the owner hashired it out, he wil get the cost of its hire.	14 Se uno prende in prestito una bestia dal suo prossimo, e questa resta stroppiata o muore, assente il padrone, (chi ha preso la bestia) dovrà rifare il danno,
15 'If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged to be married, he wil pay her bride-price and make herhis wife.	15 ma se il padrone è stato presente, non farà restituzione, massimamente se l'aveva presa a nolo, pagando l'uso che ne faceva.
16 If her father absolutely refuses to let him have her, he will pay a sum equivalent to the bride-price of avirgin.	16 Se uno seduce una vergine non ancor fidanzata e dorme con lei, la doterà e la sposerà.
17 'You wil not al ow a sorceress to live.	17 Ma se il padre della fanciulla non vuol darla, il seduttore pagherà una somma di danaro secondo la dote che sogliono ricevere le fanciulle.
18 'Anyone who has intercourse with an animal will be put to death.	18 Non lasciar vivere gli stregoni.
19 'Anyone who sacrifices to other gods wil be put under the curse of destruction.	19 Chi s'accoppia con una bestia deve morire.
20 'You wil not molest or oppress aliens, for you yourselves were once aliens in Egypt.	20 Chi offrirà sacrifizi ad altri dèi, fuor ché al Signore solo, sarà messo a morte.
21 You wil not il -treat widows or orphans;	21 Non contristate e non affliggete il forestiero, perchè voi pure siete stati forestieri nella terra d'Egitto.
22 if you il -treat them in any way and they make an appeal to me for help, I shal certainly hear theirappeal,	22 Non danneggiate la vedova e l'orfano.
23 my anger wil be roused and I shal put you to the sword; then your own wives will be widows andyour own children orphans.	23 Se li danneggerete ed essi alzano a me la voce, io ascolterò il loro grido,
24 'If you lend money to any of my people, to anyone poor among you, you wil not play the usurer withhim: you will not demand interest from him.	24 e il mio furore divamperà, e vi sterminerò colla spada, e le vostre mogli resteranno vedove, e i vostri figli orfani.
25 'If you take someone's cloak in pledge, you wil return it to him at sunset.	25 Se tu presti del danaro al mio popolo, al povero che abita con te, non lo vesserai come un esattore, nè l'opprimerai colle usure.
26 It is al the covering he has; it is the cloak he wraps his body in; what else wil he sleep in? If heappeals to me, I shall listen. At least with me he will find compassion!	26 Se dal tuo prossimo riceverai in pegno il mantello, glielo restituirai prima che tramonti il sole,
27 'You wil not revile God, nor curse your people's leader.	27 perchè esso è l'unica sua coperta, la, veste della sua carne, e non ha altro sotto cui dormire. Se egli griderà verso di me, io lo esaudirò, perchè sono misericordioso.
28 'Do not be slow about making offerings from your abundance and your surplus. You wil give me thefirst-born of your children;	28 Non dir male dei giudici, nè maledire il principe del tuo popolo.
29 you will do the same with your flocks and herds. For the first seven days the first-born wil stay withits mother; on the eighth day you wil give it to me.	29 Non indugiare a pagar le tue decime e le tue primizie: tu devi darmi il primogenito dei tuoi figli;
30 'You must be people consecrated to me. You wil not eat the meat of anything in the countrysidesavaged by wild animals; you wil throw it to the dogs.'	30 e lo stesso devi fare dei buoi e delle pecore: per sette giorni il primo nato stia colla madre; l'ottavo giorno me l'offrirai.
	31 Voi mi sarete degli uomini santi: non mungerete carne che sia già assaggiata da bestie: gettatela ai cani.
