2 Chronicles 8

NEW JERUSALEM	VULGATA
1 At the end of the twenty years which it took Solomon to build the Temple of Yahweh and his ownpalace,	1 Expletis autem viginti annis postquam ædificavit Salomon domum Domini et domum suam,
2 and to rebuild the towns which Huram had given him and settle them with Israelites,	2 civitates quas dederat Hiram Salomoni, ædificavit, et habitare ibi fecit filios Israël.
3 Solomon mounted an expedition against Hamath-Zobah and captured it.	3 Abiit quoque in Emath Suba, et obtinuit eam.
4 He also fortified Tadmor in the desert and all the storage towns which he had built in Hamath.	4 Et ædificavit Palmyram in deserto, et alias civitates munitissimas ædificavit in Emath.
5 He also built Upper Beth-Horon and Lower Beth-Horon as fortified towns with wal s and gates and bars,	5 Exstruxitque Bethoron superiorem, et Bethoron inferiorem, civitates muratas habentes portas et vectes et seras :
6 also Baalath and al Solomon's storage towns, al the towns for his chariots and horses, and everythingwhich Solomon was pleased to build in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon and throughout the territory under his rule.	6 Balaath etiam et omnes urbes firmissimas quæ fuerunt Salomonis, cunctasque urbes quadrigarum, et urbes equitum. Omnia quæcumque voluit Salomon atque disposuit, ædificavit in Jerusalem, et in Libano, et in universa terra potestatis suæ.
7 Al those who survived of the Hittite, Amorite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite peoples, who did not belongto Israel-	7 Omnem populum qui derelictus fuerat de Hethæis, et Amorrhæis, et Pherezæis, et Hevæis, et Jebusæis, qui non erant de stirpe Israël,
8 those of their descendants stil remaining in the country, whom the Israelites had not exterminated,these Solomon levied for forced labour, as is stil the case today.	8 de filiis eorum, et de posteris, quos non interfecerant filii Israël, subjugavit Salomon in tributarios, usque in diem hanc.
9 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites for his work -- for they were soldiers,his senior officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.	9 Porro de filiis Israël non posuit ut servirent operibus regis : ipsi enim erant viri bellatores, et duces primi, et principes quadrigarum et equitum ejus.
10 There were two hundred and fifty of King Solomon's officials in charge of the foremen who supervisedthe people.	10 Omnes autem principes exercitus regis Salomonis fuerunt ducenti quinquaginta, qui erudiebant populum.
11 Solomon moved Pharaoh's daughter up from the City of David to the palace which he had built for her.'I must not be responsible', he said, 'for a woman living in the palace of David king of Israel, for these buildings towhich the ark of Yahweh has come are sacred.'	11 Filiam vero Pharaonis transtulit de civitate David in domum quam ædificaverat ei. Dixit enim rex : Non habitabit uxor mea in domo David regis Israël, eo quod sanctificata sit : quia ingressa est in eam arca Domini.
12 Thereafter, Solomon made burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh which he had built infront of the portico,	12 Tunc obtulit Salomon holocausta Domino super altare Domini, quod exstruxerat ante porticum,
13 in accordance with the regular prescriptions for burnt sacrifice as commanded by Moses, on theSabbaths, New Moons and the three annual feasts; the feast of Unleavened Bread, the feast of Weeks and thefeast of Shelters.	13 ut per singulos dies offerretur in eo juxta præceptum Moysi in sabbatis et in calendis, et in festis diebus, ter per annum, id est, in solemnitate azymorum, et in solemnitatem hebdomadarum, et in solemnitate tabernaculorum.
14 Fol owing the prescriptions of his father David, he assigned the orders of priests to their duties and theLevites to their tasks of praise and of assisting the priests in accordance with day-to-day requirements; as alsothe gatekeepers in their various orders to each gate -- for such was the command of David, man of God.	14 Et constituit juxta dispositionem David patris sui officia sacerdotum in ministeriis suis, et Levitas in ordine suo, ut laudarent et ministrarent coram sacerdotibus juxta ritum uniuscujusque diei, et janitores in divisionibus suis per portam et portam : sic enim præceperat David homo Dei.
15 Nor was there deviation on any point from the king's command as regards the priests, the Levites oreven the storehouses.	15 Nec prætergressi sunt de mandatis regis tam sacerdotes quam Levitæ, ex omnibus quæ præceperat, et in custodiis thesaurorum.
16 Thus, al the work was over which Solomon had put in hand when the Temple of Yahweh was foundeduntil it was finished. The Temple of Yahweh was complete in every detail.	16 Omnes impensas præparatas habuit Salomon ex eo die quo fundavit domum Domini usque in diem quo perfecit eam.
17 Solomon then mounted an expedition to Ezion-Geber and Elath on the sea-coast of Edom.	17 Tunc abiit Salomon in Asiongaber, et in Ailath ad oram maris Rubri, quæ est in terra Edom.
18 Huram sent him ships through his agents, as wel as experienced sailors, who went to Ophir with menin Solomon's service, where they took on four hundred and fifty talents of gold, which they brought back to KingSolomon.	18 Misit autem ei Hiram per manus servorum suorum naves, et nautas gnaros maris, et abierunt cum servis Salomonis in Ophir, tuleruntque inde quadringenta quinquaginta talenta auri, et attulerunt ad regem Salomonem.
