2 Chronicles 8

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 At the end of the twenty years which it took Solomon to build the Temple of Yahweh and his ownpalace,	1 Expletis autem viginti annis, postquam aedificavit Salomon domum Domini et domum suam,
2 and to rebuild the towns which Huram had given him and settle them with Israelites,	2 civitates, quas dederat Hiram Salomoni, aedificavit et habitare ibi fecit filios Israel.
3 Solomon mounted an expedition against Hamath-Zobah and captured it.	3 Abiit quoque in Emath Soba et obtinuit eam.
4 He also fortified Tadmor in the desert and all the storage towns which he had built in Hamath.	4 Et aedificavit Palmyram in deserto et omnes civitates horreorum, quas aedificavit in Emath.
5 He also built Upper Beth-Horon and Lower Beth-Horon as fortified towns with wal s and gates and bars,	5 Exstruxitque Bethoron superiorem et Bethoron inferiorem, civitates munitas habentes muros et portas et vectes,
6 also Baalath and al Solomon's storage towns, al the towns for his chariots and horses, and everythingwhich Solomon was pleased to build in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon and throughout the territory under his rule.	6 Baalath etiam et omnes urbes horreorum, quae fuerunt Salomonis, cunctasque urbes quadrigarum et urbes equorum. Omnia quaecumque voluit Salomon atque disposuit, aedificavit in Ierusalem et in Libano et in universa terra potestatis suae.
7 Al those who survived of the Hittite, Amorite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite peoples, who did not belongto Israel-	7 Omnem populum, qui derelictus fuerat de Hetthaeis et Amorraeis et Pherezaeis et Hevaeis et Iebusaeis, qui non erant de stirpe Israel,
8 those of their descendants stil remaining in the country, whom the Israelites had not exterminated,these Solomon levied for forced labour, as is stil the case today.	8 de filiis eorum, qui remanserant post eos in terra, quos non interfecerant filii Israel, subiugavit Salomon in tributarios usque in diem hanc.
9 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites for his work -- for they were soldiers,his senior officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.	9 Porro de filiis Israel non posuit, ut servirent operibus regis; ipsi enim erant viri bellatores et principes pugnatorum eius et principes quadrigarum et equitum eius.
10 There were two hundred and fifty of King Solomon's officials in charge of the foremen who supervisedthe people.	10 Omnes autem principes praefectorum regis Salomonis fuerunt ducenti quinquaginta, qui praefuerant populo.
11 Solomon moved Pharaoh's daughter up from the City of David to the palace which he had built for her.'I must not be responsible', he said, 'for a woman living in the palace of David king of Israel, for these buildings towhich the ark of Yahweh has come are sacred.'	11 Filiam vero pharaonis transtulit de civitate David in domum, quam aedificaverat ei; dixit enim rex: “ Non habitabit mulier mihi in domo David regis Israel, eo quod sanctificata sit, quia ingressa est in eam arca Domini ”.
12 Thereafter, Solomon made burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh which he had built infront of the portico,	12 Tunc obtulit Salomon holocausta Domino super altare Domini, quod exstruxerat ante porticum,
13 in accordance with the regular prescriptions for burnt sacrifice as commanded by Moses, on theSabbaths, New Moons and the three annual feasts; the feast of Unleavened Bread, the feast of Weeks and thefeast of Shelters.	13 ut per singulos dies offerretur in eo iuxta praeceptum Moysi in sabbatis et in calendis et in festis diebus ter per annum, id est in sollemnitate Azymorum et in sollemnitate Hebdomadarum et in sollemnitate Tabernaculorum.
14 Fol owing the prescriptions of his father David, he assigned the orders of priests to their duties and theLevites to their tasks of praise and of assisting the priests in accordance with day-to-day requirements; as alsothe gatekeepers in their various orders to each gate -- for such was the command of David, man of God.	14 Et constituit iuxta dispositionem David patris sui officia sacerdotum in ministeriis suis et Levitas in ordine suo, ut laudarent et ministrarent coram sacerdotibus iuxta ritum uniuscuiusque diei, et ianitores in divisionibus suis per portam et portam; sic enim praeceperat David homo Dei.
15 Nor was there deviation on any point from the king's command as regards the priests, the Levites oreven the storehouses.	15 Nec praetergressi sunt mandata regis de sacerdotibus et Levitis in omnibus et in custodiis thesaurorum.
16 Thus, al the work was over which Solomon had put in hand when the Temple of Yahweh was foundeduntil it was finished. The Temple of Yahweh was complete in every detail.	16 Et firmatum est totum opus Salomonis ex eo die, quo fundavit domum Domini, usque in diem, quo perfecit eam.
17 Solomon then mounted an expedition to Ezion-Geber and Elath on the sea-coast of Edom.	17 Tunc abiit Salomon in Asiongaber et in Ailath ad oram maris Rubri, quae est in terra Edom.
18 Huram sent him ships through his agents, as wel as experienced sailors, who went to Ophir with menin Solomon's service, where they took on four hundred and fifty talents of gold, which they brought back to KingSolomon.	18 Misit autem ei Hiram per manus servorum suorum naves et nautas gnaros maris; et abierunt cum servis Salomonis in Ophir tuleruntque inde quadringenta quinquaginta talenta auri et attulerunt ad regem Salomonem.
