2 Chronicles 8

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 At the end of the twenty years which it took Solomon to build the Temple of Yahweh and his ownpalace,	1 Au bout des vingt années pendant lesquelles Salomon construisit le Temple de Yahvé et sonpropre palais,
2 and to rebuild the towns which Huram had given him and settle them with Israelites,	2 il restaura les villes que lui avait données Huram et y établit les Israélites:
3 Solomon mounted an expedition against Hamath-Zobah and captured it.	3 Puis il alla à Hamat de Coba, dont il se rendit maître;
4 He also fortified Tadmor in the desert and all the storage towns which he had built in Hamath.	4 il restaura Tadmor dans le désert et toutes les villes-entrepôts qu'il avait édifiées dans le paysde Hamat.
5 He also built Upper Beth-Horon and Lower Beth-Horon as fortified towns with wal s and gates and bars,	5 Il restaura Bet-Horôn-le-Haut et Bet-Horôn-le-Bas, villes fortifiées, munies de murs, de porteset de barres,
6 also Baalath and al Solomon's storage towns, al the towns for his chariots and horses, and everythingwhich Solomon was pleased to build in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon and throughout the territory under his rule.	6 ainsi que Baalat, toutes les villes-entrepôts qu'avait Salomon, toutes les villes de chars et lesvilles de chevaux, et ce qu'il plut à Salomon de construire à Jérusalem, au Liban et dans tous les pays qui luiétaient soumis.
7 Al those who survived of the Hittite, Amorite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite peoples, who did not belongto Israel-	7 Tout ce qui restait des Hittites, des Amorites, des Perizzites, des Hivvites et des Jébuséens, quin'étaient pas des Israélites
8 those of their descendants stil remaining in the country, whom the Israelites had not exterminated,these Solomon levied for forced labour, as is stil the case today.	8 et dont les descendants étaient restés après eux dans le pays sans être exterminés par lesIsraélites, Salomon les leva comme hommes de corvée; ils le sont encore.
9 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites for his work -- for they were soldiers,his senior officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.	9 Mais Salomon ne fit point des Israélites des esclaves travaillant pour lui, car ils servaientcomme soldats: ils étaient les officiers de ses écuyers, les officiers de sa charrerie et de sa cavalerie.
10 There were two hundred and fifty of King Solomon's officials in charge of the foremen who supervisedthe people.	10 Voici les officiers des préfets dont disposait le roi Salomon: 250 qui commandaient aupeuple.
11 Solomon moved Pharaoh's daughter up from the City of David to the palace which he had built for her.'I must not be responsible', he said, 'for a woman living in the palace of David king of Israel, for these buildings towhich the ark of Yahweh has come are sacred.'	11 Salomon fit monter de la Cité de David la fille de Pharaon jusqu'à la maison qu'il lui avaitconstruite. Il disait en effet: "Une femme ne saurait demeurer à cause de moi dans le palais de David, roi d'Israël;ce sont des lieux sacrés où vint l'arche de Yahvé."
12 Thereafter, Solomon made burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh which he had built infront of the portico,	12 Salomon offrit alors des holocaustes à Yahvé sur l'autel de Yahvé qu'il avait bâti devant leVestibule.
13 in accordance with the regular prescriptions for burnt sacrifice as commanded by Moses, on theSabbaths, New Moons and the three annual feasts; the feast of Unleavened Bread, the feast of Weeks and thefeast of Shelters.	13 Selon le rituel quotidien des holocaustes, conformément à l'ordre de Moïse sur les sabbats,les néoménies et les trois solennités annuelles: la fête des Azymes, la fête des Semaines et la fête des Tentes,
14 Fol owing the prescriptions of his father David, he assigned the orders of priests to their duties and theLevites to their tasks of praise and of assisting the priests in accordance with day-to-day requirements; as alsothe gatekeepers in their various orders to each gate -- for such was the command of David, man of God.	14 il établit, selon la règle de David son père, les classes des prêtres dans leur service, les lévitesdans leur fonction pour louer et officier près des prêtres selon le rituel quotidien, et les portiers, selon leur classerespective, à chaque porte, car tels avaient été les ordres de David, homme de Dieu.
15 Nor was there deviation on any point from the king's command as regards the priests, the Levites oreven the storehouses.	15 Sur aucun autre point, même au sujet des réserves, ils ne s'écartèrent des ordres du roi relatifsaux prêtres et aux lévites.
16 Thus, al the work was over which Solomon had put in hand when the Temple of Yahweh was foundeduntil it was finished. The Temple of Yahweh was complete in every detail.	16 Et toute l'oeuvre de Salomon, qui n'avait été que préparée jusqu'au jour de la fondation duTemple de Yahvé, fut parfaite lorsqu'il eut achevé le Temple de Yahvé.
17 Solomon then mounted an expedition to Ezion-Geber and Elath on the sea-coast of Edom.	17 Alors Salomon gagna Eçyôn-Géber et Elat, au bord de la mer, au pays d'Edom.
18 Huram sent him ships through his agents, as wel as experienced sailors, who went to Ophir with menin Solomon's service, where they took on four hundred and fifty talents of gold, which they brought back to KingSolomon.	18 Huram lui envoya des navires montés par ses serviteurs ainsi que des serviteurs quiconnaissaient la mer. Avec les serviteurs de Salomon ils allèrent à Ophir et en rapportèrent 540 talents d'or qu'ilsremirent au roi Salomon.
