1 At the end of the twenty years which it took Solomon to build the Temple of Yahweh and his ownpalace,	1 Salomon mit 20 ans à bâtir la Maison de Yahvé et son propre palais.
2 and to rebuild the towns which Huram had given him and settle them with Israelites,	2 Ensuite Salomon reconstruisit les villes que lui avait données Hiram et il y installa les Israélites.
3 Solomon mounted an expedition against Hamath-Zobah and captured it.	3 Il partit alors à Hamat-de-Soba et s’en empara.

5 He also built Upper Beth-Horon and Lower Beth-Horon as fortified towns with wal s and gates and bars,	5 Il reconstruisit Beth-Horon-le-Haut et Beth-Horon-le-Bas: c’étaient des villes fortifiées avec des remparts, des portes et des verrous.
6 also Baalath and al Solomon's storage towns, al the towns for his chariots and horses, and everythingwhich Solomon was pleased to build in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon and throughout the territory under his rule.	6 Il reconstruisit encore Baalat, toutes les villes de dépôts qui lui appartenaient, toutes les villes de chars et de cavalerie, et tout ce qu’il désirait reconstruire à Jérusalem, au Liban et dans tous les pays qui lui étaient soumis.
7 Al those who survived of the Hittite, Amorite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite peoples, who did not belongto Israel-	7 Il restait encore des Hittites, des Amorites, des Périsites, des Hivvites et des Jébusites, qui n’étaient pas Israélites;
8 those of their descendants stil remaining in the country, whom the Israelites had not exterminated,these Solomon levied for forced labour, as is stil the case today.	8 leurs descendants étaient restés dans le pays après eux et les Israélites ne les avaient pas exterminés. Salomon en fit des hommes de corvée et cela dure encore aujourd’hui.
9 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites for his work -- for they were soldiers,his senior officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.	9 Mais Salomon n’imposa pas de corvées aux Israélites: ils étaient soldats, officiers, commandants ou écuyers des chars, ou encore cavaliers.
10 There were two hundred and fifty of King Solomon's officials in charge of the foremen who supervisedthe people.	10 250 chefs nommés par les préfets du roi Salomon commandaient le peuple.
11 Solomon moved Pharaoh's daughter up from the City of David to the palace which he had built for her.'I must not be responsible', he said, 'for a woman living in the palace of David king of Israel, for these buildings towhich the ark of Yahweh has come are sacred.'	11 Salomon fit monter la fille du Pharaon de la Cité de David au palais qu’il lui avait construit. Il se disait en effet: “Je ne peux pas garder une femme dans la maison de David, roi d’Israël: c’est un lieu saint dans lequel est entrée l’Arche de Yahvé.”
12 Thereafter, Solomon made burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh which he had built infront of the portico,	12 Salomon offrit alors des holocaustes sur l’autel de Yahvé qu’il avait construit devant le Vestibule.
13 in accordance with the regular prescriptions for burnt sacrifice as commanded by Moses, on theSabbaths, New Moons and the three annual feasts; the feast of Unleavened Bread, the feast of Weeks and thefeast of Shelters.	13 Jour après jour on offrait ce qui avait été ordonné par Moïse pour les sabbats, pour les nouvelles lunes, les fêtes, et lors des trois fêtes annuelles des Azymes, des Semaines et des Tentes.
14 Fol owing the prescriptions of his father David, he assigned the orders of priests to their duties and theLevites to their tasks of praise and of assisting the priests in accordance with day-to-day requirements; as alsothe gatekeepers in their various orders to each gate -- for such was the command of David, man of God.	14 Conformément aux règlements de David son père, il établit les différentes classes de prêtres dans leur service, les lévites avec leurs fonctions pour louer et célébrer à côté des prêtres selon le rituel de chaque jour, ainsi que les classes de portiers pour les diverses portes: c’était l’ordre de David, l’homme de Dieu.
15 Nor was there deviation on any point from the king's command as regards the priests, the Levites oreven the storehouses.	15 On ne s’écarta sur aucun point, même pour les trésors, de l’ordre que le roi avait donné au sujet des prêtres et des lévites.
16 Thus, al the work was over which Solomon had put in hand when the Temple of Yahweh was foundeduntil it was finished. The Temple of Yahweh was complete in every detail.	16 Salomon mena à bien tout le travail qu’il avait entrepris depuis le jour de la fondation de la Maison de Yahvé jusqu’à ce qu’il eût achevé ce Temple de Yahvé.
17 Solomon then mounted an expedition to Ezion-Geber and Elath on the sea-coast of Edom.	17 Salomon se rendit à Ézyon-Guéber et à Élat, au bord de la mer, dans le pays d’Édom.
18 Huram sent him ships through his agents, as wel as experienced sailors, who went to Ophir with menin Solomon's service, where they took on four hundred and fifty talents of gold, which they brought back to KingSolomon.	18 Hiram lui envoya par ses serviteurs des navires ainsi que des hommes qui connaissaient bien la mer. Ils allèrent avec les serviteurs de Salomon à Ofir. Ils en rapportèrent 450 talents d’or qu’ils remirent au roi Salomon.
