1 At the end of the twenty years which it took Solomon to build the Temple of Yahweh and his ownpalace,	1 ויהי מקץ עשרים שנה אשר בנה שלמה את בית יהוה ואת ביתו
2 and to rebuild the towns which Huram had given him and settle them with Israelites,	2 והערים אשר נתן חורם לשלמה בנה שלמה אתם ויושב שם את בני ישראל
3 Solomon mounted an expedition against Hamath-Zobah and captured it.	3 וילך שלמה חמת צובה ויחזק עליה
4 He also fortified Tadmor in the desert and all the storage towns which he had built in Hamath.	4 ויבן את תדמר במדבר ואת כל ערי המסכנות אשר בנה בחמת
5 He also built Upper Beth-Horon and Lower Beth-Horon as fortified towns with wal s and gates and bars,	5 ויבן את בית חורון העליון ואת בית חורון התחתון ערי מצור חומות דלתים ובריח
6 also Baalath and al Solomon's storage towns, al the towns for his chariots and horses, and everythingwhich Solomon was pleased to build in Jerusalem, in the Lebanon and throughout the territory under his rule.	6 ואת בעלת ואת כל ערי המסכנות אשר היו לשלמה ואת כל ערי הרכב ואת ערי הפרשים ואת כל חשק שלמה אשר חשק לבנות בירושלם ובלבנון ובכל ארץ ממשלתו
7 Al those who survived of the Hittite, Amorite, Perizzite, Hivite and Jebusite peoples, who did not belongto Israel-	7 כל העם הנותר מן החתי והאמרי והפרזי והחוי והיבוסי אשר לא מישראל המה
8 those of their descendants stil remaining in the country, whom the Israelites had not exterminated,these Solomon levied for forced labour, as is stil the case today.	8 מן בניהם אשר נותרו אחריהם בארץ אשר לא כלום בני ישראל ויעלם שלמה למס עד היום הזה
9 Solomon did not, however, impose forced labour on the Israelites for his work -- for they were soldiers,his senior officers and his chariot and cavalry commanders.	9 ומן בני ישראל אשר לא נתן שלמה לעבדים למלאכתו כי המה אנשי מלחמה ושרי שלישיו ושרי רכבו ופרשיו
10 There were two hundred and fifty of King Solomon's officials in charge of the foremen who supervisedthe people.	10 ואלה שרי הנציבים אשר למלך שלמה חמשים ומאתים הרדים בעם
11 Solomon moved Pharaoh's daughter up from the City of David to the palace which he had built for her.'I must not be responsible', he said, 'for a woman living in the palace of David king of Israel, for these buildings towhich the ark of Yahweh has come are sacred.'	11 ואת בת פרעה העלה שלמה מעיר דויד לבית אשר בנה לה כי אמר לא תשב אשה לי בבית דויד מלך ישראל כי קדש המה אשר באה אליהם ארון יהוה
12 Thereafter, Solomon made burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh which he had built infront of the portico,	12 אז העלה שלמה עלות ליהוה על מזבח יהוה אשר בנה לפני האולם
13 in accordance with the regular prescriptions for burnt sacrifice as commanded by Moses, on theSabbaths, New Moons and the three annual feasts; the feast of Unleavened Bread, the feast of Weeks and thefeast of Shelters.	13 ובדבר יום ביום להעלות כמצות משה לשבתות ולחדשים ולמועדות שלוש פעמים בשנה בחג המצות ובחג השבעות ובחג הסכות
14 Fol owing the prescriptions of his father David, he assigned the orders of priests to their duties and theLevites to their tasks of praise and of assisting the priests in accordance with day-to-day requirements; as alsothe gatekeepers in their various orders to each gate -- for such was the command of David, man of God.	14 ויעמד כמשפט דויד אביו את מחלקות הכהנים על עבדתם והלוים על משמרותם להלל ולשרת נגד הכהנים לדבר יום ביומו והשוערים במחלקותם לשער ושער כי כן מצות דויד איש האלהים
15 Nor was there deviation on any point from the king's command as regards the priests, the Levites oreven the storehouses.	15 ולא סרו מצות המלך על הכהנים והלוים לכל דבר ולאצרות
16 Thus, al the work was over which Solomon had put in hand when the Temple of Yahweh was foundeduntil it was finished. The Temple of Yahweh was complete in every detail.	16 ותכן כל מלאכת שלמה עד היום מוסד בית יהוה ועד כלתו שלם בית יהוה
17 Solomon then mounted an expedition to Ezion-Geber and Elath on the sea-coast of Edom.	17 אז הלך שלמה לעציון גבר ואל אילות על שפת הים בארץ אדום
18 Huram sent him ships through his agents, as wel as experienced sailors, who went to Ophir with menin Solomon's service, where they took on four hundred and fifty talents of gold, which they brought back to KingSolomon.	18 וישלח לו חורם ביד עבדיו אוניות ועבדים יודעי ים ויבאו עם עבדי שלמה אופירה ויקחו משם ארבע מאות וחמשים ככר זהב ויביאו אל המלך שלמה
