NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.	1 Joatão tinha a idade de vinte e cinco anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou durante dezesseis anos em Jerusalém. Sua mãe chamava-se Jerusa, filha de Sadoc.
2 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Uzziah had done. Only he did not enterYahweh's sanctuary. But the people continued to do wrong.	2 Fez o bem aos olhos do Senhor, e seguiu as pegadas de seu pai Ozias, exceto que não penetrou no templo do Senhor. Mas o povo continuava a se corromper.
3 It was he who built the Upper Gate of the Temple of Yahweh and carried out considerable work on thewal of the Ophel.	3 Foi Joatão quem construiu a porta superior do templo do Senhor, e trabalhou muito no muro de Ofel.
4 He also built towns in the highlands of Judah and built forts and towers in the wooded areas.	4 Construiu cidades na montanha de Judá, fortes e torres nas matas.
5 He also went to war against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them; and the Ammonites had togive him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kor of wheat and ten thousand of barley that year. And theAmmonites paid him the same amount, the second and third years afterwards.	5 Fez guerra ao rei dos amonitas e venceu-os. Nesse ano, os amonitas pagaram-lhe um tributo de cem talentos de prata, dez mil coros de trigo, e dez mil de cevada; isso eles trouxeram também no segundo e no terceiro ano.
6 Jotham became powerful because he kept an unswerving course before Yahweh his God.	6 Joatão tornou-se assim muito poderoso, porque ele andava com firmeza nos caminhos do Senhor, seu Deus.

9 Then Jotham fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in the City of David; his son Ahazsucceeded him.	9 Joatão adormeceu entre seus pais e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi. Seu filho Acaz sucedeu-lhe no trono.
