NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.	1 Yotam avait 25 ans à son avènement et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s'appelaitYerusha, fille de Sadoq.
2 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Uzziah had done. Only he did not enterYahweh's sanctuary. But the people continued to do wrong.	2 Il fit ce qui est agréable à Yahvé, imitant en tout la conduite de son père Ozias. Seulement iln'entra pas dans le sanctuaire de Yahvé. Mais le peuple continua à se perdre.
3 It was he who built the Upper Gate of the Temple of Yahweh and carried out considerable work on thewal of the Ophel.	3 C'est lui qui construisit la Porte Supérieure du Temple de Yahvé, et fit de nombreux travauxau mur de l'Ophel.
4 He also built towns in the highlands of Judah and built forts and towers in the wooded areas.	4 Il construisit des villes dans la montagne de Juda ainsi que des citadelles et des tours dans lesterres labourables.
5 He also went to war against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them; and the Ammonites had togive him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kor of wheat and ten thousand of barley that year. And theAmmonites paid him the same amount, the second and third years afterwards.	5 Il combattit le roi des Ammonites. Il l'emporta sur eux et les Ammonites lui livrèrent cetteannée-là cent talents d'argent, 10.000 muids de froment et 10.000 d'orge. C'est cela que les Ammonites durent luirendre; il en fut de même la seconde et la troisième année.
6 Jotham became powerful because he kept an unswerving course before Yahweh his God.	6 Yotam devint puissant, car il se conduisait avec fermeté en présence de Yahvé son Dieu.
7 The rest of the history of Jotham, al his wars and his policy, are recorded in the Book of the Kings ofIsrael and Judah.	7 Le reste de l'histoire de Yotam, toutes ses guerres et sa politique, est écrit dans le livre desrois d'Israël et de Juda.

9 Then Jotham fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in the City of David; his son Ahazsucceeded him.	9 Puis Yotam se coucha avec ses pères, on l'enterra dans la Cité de David, et son fils Achazdevint roi à sa place.
