2 Chronicles 27

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.	1 בן עשרים וחמש שנה יותם במלכו ושש עשרה שנה מלך בירושלם ושם אמו ירושה בת צדוק
2 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Uzziah had done. Only he did not enterYahweh's sanctuary. But the people continued to do wrong.	2 ויעש הישר בעיני יהוה ככל אשר עשה עזיהו אביו רק לא בא אל היכל יהוה ועוד העם משחיתים
3 It was he who built the Upper Gate of the Temple of Yahweh and carried out considerable work on thewal of the Ophel.	3 הוא בנה את שער בית יהוה העליון ובחומת העפל בנה לרב
4 He also built towns in the highlands of Judah and built forts and towers in the wooded areas.	4 וערים בנה בהר יהודה ובחרשים בנה בירניות ומגדלים
5 He also went to war against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them; and the Ammonites had togive him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kor of wheat and ten thousand of barley that year. And theAmmonites paid him the same amount, the second and third years afterwards.	5 והוא נלחם עם מלך בני עמון ויחזק עליהם ויתנו לו בני עמון בשנה ההיא מאה ככר כסף ועשרת אלפים כרים חטים ושעורים עשרת אלפים זאת השיבו לו בני עמון ובשנה השנית והשלשית
6 Jotham became powerful because he kept an unswerving course before Yahweh his God.	6 ויתחזק יותם כי הכין דרכיו לפני יהוה אלהיו
7 The rest of the history of Jotham, al his wars and his policy, are recorded in the Book of the Kings ofIsrael and Judah.	7 ויתר דברי יותם וכל מלחמתיו ודרכיו הנם כתובים על ספר מלכי ישראל ויהודה
8 He was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem.	8 בן עשרים וחמש שנה היה במלכו ושש עשרה שנה מלך בירושלם
9 Then Jotham fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in the City of David; his son Ahazsucceeded him.	9 וישכב יותם עם אבתיו ויקברו אתו בעיר דויד וימלך אחז בנו תחתיו
