NEW JERUSALEMNOVA VULGATA
Jotham was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.1 Viginti quinque annorum erat Ioatham, cum regnare coepisset, et sedecim annis regnavit in Ierusalem. Nomen matris eius Ierusa filia Sadoc.
He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Uzziah had done. Only he did not enterYahweh's sanctuary. But the people continued to do wrong.2 Fecitque, quod rectum erat coram Domino iuxta omnia, quae fecerat Ozias pater suus, excepto quod non est ingressus templum Domini, et adhuc populus delinquebat.
It was he who built the Upper Gate of the Temple of Yahweh and carried out considerable work on thewal of the Ophel.3 Ipse aedificavit portam domus Domini Superiorem et in muro Ophel multa construxit.
He also built towns in the highlands of Judah and built forts and towers in the wooded areas.4 Urbes quoque aedificavit in montibus Iudae et in saltibus castella et turres.
He also went to war against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them; and the Ammonites had togive him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kor of wheat and ten thousand of barley that year. And theAmmonites paid him the same amount, the second and third years afterwards.5 Ipse pugnavit contra regem filiorum Ammon et vicit eos, dederuntque ei filii Ammon in anno illo centum talenta argenti et decem milia choros tritici ac totidem choros hordei; haec ei praebuerunt filii Ammon etiam in anno secundo et tertio.
Jotham became powerful because he kept an unswerving course before Yahweh his God.6 Corroboratusque est Ioatham, eo quod direxisset vias suas coram Domino Deo suo.
The rest of the history of Jotham, al his wars and his policy, are recorded in the Book of the Kings ofIsrael and Judah.7 Reliqua autem gestorum Ioatham et omnes pugnae eius et viae scriptae sunt in libro regum Israel et Iudae.
He was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem.8 Viginti quinque annorum erat, cum regnare coepisset, et sedecim annis regnavit in Ierusalem.
Then Jotham fel asleep with his ancestors, and was buried in the City of David; his son Ahazsucceeded him.9 Dormivitque Ioatham cum patribus suis, et sepelierunt eum in civitate David; et regnavit Achaz filius eius pro eo.
