1 Al Israel then ral ied to David at Hebron and said, 'Look, we are your own flesh and bone.	1 Tutto Israele si radunò presso Davide a Ebron e gli dissero: "Ecco, noi siamo le tue ossa e la tua carne.
2 In days past when Saul was king, it was you who led Israel on its campaigns, and Yahweh your Godpromised you, "You are to shepherd my people Israel and be leader of my people Israel." 3 So al the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a pact with them in Yahweh'spresence at Hebron, and they anointed David as king of Israel, in accordance with the word of Yahweh throughSamuel.	3 Tutti gli anziani d'Israele si radunarono presso il re a Ebron e Davide concluse con essi un patto in Ebron al cospetto del Signore. Allora unsero Davide come re su Israele, secondo la parola del Signore pronunciata per mezzo di Samuele.
4 David and al Israel then marched on Jerusalem (that is to say, Jebus); the inhabitants of the territorywere the Jebusites.	4 Davide con tutto Israele marciò contro Gerusalemme, cioè Gebus; ivi risiedevano i Gebusei, abitanti della regione.

6 David said, 'The first man to kill a Jebusite will be made army commander and chief.' 13 He was with David at Pas-Dammim when the Philistines mustered for battle there. There was a fieldful of barley there; and the people fled from the Philistines.	13 Si trovò insieme a Davide a Pas-Dammim, dove i Filistei si erano radunati per far guerra e dove c'era un appezzamento di terra pieno di orzo. 15 Three members of the Thirty went down to David at the rock near the Cave of Adul am while acompany of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of the Rephaim.	15 Tre dei trenta capi scesero sulla roccia presso Davide, nella grotta di Adullàm, mentre il campo dei Filistei si era stabilito nella valle di Rèfaim.
16 David was then in the stronghold and there was a Philistine garrison in Bethlehem.	16 Davide si trovava allora nella fortezza, mentre un presidio dei Filistei si trovava a Betlemme.
17 Longingly, David said, 'If only someone would fetch me a drink of water from the wel that stands bythe gate at Bethlehem!'	17 Davide ebbe un desiderio che formulò così: "Chi mi darà da bere acqua della cisterna di Betlemme, che si trova presso la porta?".
18 At this the three champions, forcing their way through the Philistine camp, drew water from the welthat stands by the gate of Bethlehem and, bringing it away, presented it to David. 19 'God preserve me', he said, 'from doing such a thing! Am I to drink these men's blood? For at the riskof their lives they brought it.' And so he would not drink. 20 Abishai, brother of Joab, was leader of the Thirty. He it was who brandished his spear over threehundred men whom he had killed, winning himself a name among the Thirty.	20 Abisài, fratello di Ioab, era capo dei Trenta; egli brandì la sua lancia contro trecento vittime facendosi un nome fra i Trenta.
21 He was a most il ustrious member of the Thirty and became their captain, but he was not equal to theThree.	21 Fu doppiamente stimato fra i trenta e fu loro capo, ma non raggiunse i tre eroi.
22 Benaiah son of Jehoiada from Kabzeel was the hero of many exploits; he it was who slaughtered twoformidable Moabites and, one snowy day, climbed down and slaughtered the lion in the storage-wel .	22 Benaià, da Kazbeèl, figlio di Ioiadà, uomo valoroso, ricco di prodezze, uccise i due figli di Arièl di Moab; inoltre egli in un giorno di neve discese in una cisterna ed ivi abbatté un leone.
23 He also slaughtered an Egyptian, a man who was seven and a half feet tal . The Egyptian was armedwith a spear in his hand like a weaver's beam, but he took him on with a staff, tore the spear from the Egyptian'shand and kil ed the man with it.	23 Fu lui che uccise anche un egiziano dalla statura alta cinque cubiti, che teneva in mano una lancia come un subbio da tessitore; egli scese contro di lui con un bastone, strappò la lancia dalla mano dell'egiziano e lo uccise con quella sua stessa lancia.
24 Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, winning him a name among the thirtychampions.	24 Ecco ciò che compì Benaià, figlio di Ioiadà; egli si fece un nome fra i trenta prodi.
25 He was a most il ustrious member of the Thirty, but he was not equal to the Three. David put him incommand of his bodyguard.	25 Fu onorato più che i Trenta, ma non raggiunse i tre eroi. Davide lo costituì capo della sua guardia di corpo.
