NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Al Israel then ral ied to David at Hebron and said, 'Look, we are your own flesh and bone.	1 Congregóse todo Israel en torno a David, en Hebrón, y dijeron: «Mira: hueso tuyo y carne tuya somos nosotros.
2 In days past when Saul was king, it was you who led Israel on its campaigns, and Yahweh your Godpromised you, "You are to shepherd my people Israel and be leader of my people Israel." '	2 Ya de antes, cuando Saúl era nuestro rey, eras tú el que dirigías las entradas y salidas de Israel; Yahveh, tu Dios, te ha dicho: “Tú apacentarás a mi pueblo Israel.”»
3 So al the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a pact with them in Yahweh'spresence at Hebron, and they anointed David as king of Israel, in accordance with the word of Yahweh throughSamuel.	3 Vinieron todos los ancianos de Israel adonde el rey, a Hebrón; David hizo un pacto con ellos en Hebrón, en presencia de Yahveh; y ellos ungieron a David como rey sobre Israel, según la palabra que Yahveh había pronunciado por boca de Samuel.
4 David and al Israel then marched on Jerusalem (that is to say, Jebus); the inhabitants of the territorywere the Jebusites.	4 Después marchó David con todo Israel contra Jerusalén, o sea, Jebús; los habitantes del país eran jebuseos.
5 The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, 'You wil not get in here.' But David captured the citadel ofZion, that is, the City of David.	5 Y decían los habitantes de Jebús a David: «No entrarás aquí». Conquistó David la fortaleza de Sión, que es la Ciudad de David.
6 David said, 'The first man to kill a Jebusite will be made army commander and chief.' Joab son ofZeruiah was the first man to go up, and was made commander of the army.	6 Y dijo David: «El que primero ataque al jebuseo, será jefe y capitán». Subió el primero Joab, hijo de Sarvia, y pasó a ser jefe.
7 David went to live in the citadel, and that is how it came to be cal ed the City of David.	7 Se instaló David en la fortaleza; por eso la llamaron Ciudad de David.
8 He then built a wal round the city, al round, beginning from the Mil o, and Joab restored the rest ofthe city.	8 Y edificó en derredor de la ciudad, tanto el Milló como la circunvalación; Joab restauró el resto de la ciudad.
9 Thus David grew stronger and stronger, for Yahweh Sabaoth was with him.	9 David iba medrando, y Yahveh Sebaot estaba con él.
10 These are David's principal champions who joined forces with him in his kingdom, with al Israel, tomake him king in accordance with the word of Yahweh concerning Israel.	10 He aquí los jefes de los valientes que tenía David, y que, durante su reinado, se esforzaron con él y con todo Israel para hacerle reinar, conforme a la palabra de Yahveh respecto de Israel.
11 This is the roll of David's champions: Jashobeam son of Hachmoni, head of the Three; he it was whobrandished his spear over three hundred men whom he had kil ed at one time.	11 Esta es la lista de los héroes que tenía David: Yasobam, hijo de Jakmoní, jefe de los Treinta, que blandió su lanza e hizo más de trescientas bajas de una sola vez.
12 Next, there was Eleazar son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the three champions.	12 Después de él Eleazar, hijo de Dodó, el ajotita, que era uno de los Tres héroes.
13 He was with David at Pas-Dammim when the Philistines mustered for battle there. There was a fieldful of barley there; and the people fled from the Philistines.	13 Este estaba con David en Pas Dammim, donde los filisteos se habían concentrado para la batalla. Había allí una parcela toda de cebada, y el pueblo estaba ya huyendo delante de los filisteos,
14 And they took their stand in the middle of the field, held it and cut down the Philistines; and Yahwehbrought about a great victory.	14 pero él se apostó en medio de la parcela, la defendió y derrotó a los filisteos. Yahveh obró allí una gran victoria.
15 Three members of the Thirty went down to David at the rock near the Cave of Adul am while acompany of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of the Rephaim.	15 Tres de los Treinta bajaron a la peña de la cueva de Adullam, donde David, cuando los filisteos se hallaban acampados en el valle de los Refaím.
16 David was then in the stronghold and there was a Philistine garrison in Bethlehem.	16 David estaba a la sazón en el refugio, mientras que una guarnición de filisteos ocupaba Belén.
17 Longingly, David said, 'If only someone would fetch me a drink of water from the wel that stands bythe gate at Bethlehem!'	17 Vínole a David un deseo y dijo: «¡Quién me diera a beber agua de la cisterna que hay a la puerta de Bélen!»
18 At this the three champions, forcing their way through the Philistine camp, drew water from the welthat stands by the gate of Bethlehem and, bringing it away, presented it to David. David, however, would notdrink any of it, but poured it out as a libation to Yahweh.	18 Rompieron los Tres por el campamento de los filisteos, y sacaron agua de la cisterna que hay a la puerta de Belén, se la llevaron y se la ofrecieron a David, pero David no quiso beberla, sino que la derramó como libación a Yahveh,
19 'God preserve me', he said, 'from doing such a thing! Am I to drink these men's blood? For at the riskof their lives they brought it.' And so he would not drink. Such were the deeds of the three champions.	19 diciendo: «¡Líbreme Dios de hacer tal cosa! ¿Voy a beber yo la sangre de estos hombres junto con sus vidas? Pues con riesgo de sus vidas la han traído». Y no quiso beberla. Esto hicieron los Tres héroes.
20 Abishai, brother of Joab, was leader of the Thirty. He it was who brandished his spear over threehundred men whom he had killed, winning himself a name among the Thirty.	20 Abisay, hermano de Joab, era el primero de los Treinta. Hirió con su lanza a trescientos hombres, y conquistó renombre entre los Treinta.
21 He was a most il ustrious member of the Thirty and became their captain, but he was not equal to theThree.	21 Fue más afamado que los Treinta, llegando a ser su capitán; pero no igualó a los Tres.
22 Benaiah son of Jehoiada from Kabzeel was the hero of many exploits; he it was who slaughtered twoformidable Moabites and, one snowy day, climbed down and slaughtered the lion in the storage-wel .	22 Benaías, hijo de Yehoyadá, hombre valeroso y pródigo en hazañas, de Cabseel, mató a los dos héroes de Moab; además bajó y mató a un león dentro de una cisterna, en un día de nieve.
23 He also slaughtered an Egyptian, a man who was seven and a half feet tal . The Egyptian was armedwith a spear in his hand like a weaver's beam, but he took him on with a staff, tore the spear from the Egyptian'shand and kil ed the man with it.	23 Mató también a un egipcio que tenía cinco codos de altura; tenía el egipcio una lanza en su mano del tamaño de un enjullo de tejedor, pero Benaías bajó contra él con un bastón, arrancó la lanza de la mano del egipcio, y con su misma lanza le mató.
24 Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, winning him a name among the thirtychampions.	24 Esto hizo Benaías, hijo de Yehoyadá, y se conquistó renombre entre los Tres héroes.
25 He was a most il ustrious member of the Thirty, but he was not equal to the Three. David put him incommand of his bodyguard.	25 Fue muy famoso entre los Treinta, pero no igualó a los Tres; David le hizo jefe de su guardia personal.
