1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah	1 - Abia regnò sopra Giuda, nel decimo ottavo anno di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat.
2 and reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah descendant of Absalom.	2 Regnò tre anni in Gerusalemme: sua madre aveva nome Maaca ed era figlia di Abessalom.
3 In everything he fol owed the sinful example of his father before him; his heart was not wholly withYahweh his God, as the heart of David his ancestor had been.	3 Egli si abbandonò a tutti i peccati, che suo padre aveva commessi prima di lui. 4 However, for David's sake, Yahweh his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, with a son to succeed him,so keeping Jerusalem secure;	4 Tuttavia per amor di Davide, il Signore suo Dio gli diede una lucerna in Gerusalemme, suscitandogli un figlio dopo di lui e lasciando sussistere Gerusalemme,
5 for David had done what Yahweh regarded as right and had never in all his life disobeyed whatever hecommanded him (except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite).	5 perchè Davide aveva fatto ciò che è giusto agli occhi del Signore e non si era scostato da tutto ciò che aveva a lui comandato durante tutta la sua vita, eccetto il fatto di Uria l'Eteo.

16 Asa and Baasha king of Israel were at war with each other throughout their reigns.	16 Tra Asa e Baasa, re d'Israele, vi fu guerra durante tutta la loro vita.
17 Baasha king of Israel marched on Judah and fortified Ramah to blockade Asa king of Judah.	17 Baasa, re d'Israele, salì in Giuda ed edificò Rama per impedire a quelli di Asa, re di Giuda, di entrare o di uscire.
18 Asa then took al the remaining silver and gold left in the treasuries of the Temple of Yahweh and theroyal palace. Entrusting this to his servants, King Asa sent them with the fol owing message to Ben-Hadad sonof Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, the king of Aram who lived in Damascus,	18 Asa prese allora tutto l'argento e l'oro che era rimasto nei tesori della casa di Dio e nei tesori della reggia e lo diede in mano dei suoi servi, e li mandò a Benadad figlio di Tabremon figlio di Ezion, re di Siria, che abitava in Damasco, per dirgli:
19 'Let us make an al iance between myself and yourself, between my father and your father! Look, Ihave sent you a gift of silver and gold. 20 Ben-Hadad listened favourably to King Asa, and sent the generals of his armies to attack the towns ofIsrael; he ravaged Ijon, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maacah, al Chinneroth, and the whole territory of Naphtali.	20 Benadad diede ascolto al re Asa e mandò i capi del suo esercito contro le città d'Israele e abbatterono Aion, Dan, Abeldomum, Maaca e tutta la terra di Cennerot, vale a dire tutto il territorio di Neftali.
21 When Baasha heard this he gave up fortifying Ramah and retired to Tirzah.	21 Avendo ciò udito, Baasa cessò di edificare Rama e ritornò a Tersa.
22 King Asa then summoned al Judah, no one was exempt; they took away the stones and timber withwhich Baasha had been fortifying Ramah, and King Asa used them to fortify Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.	22 Il re Asa poi mandò nunzi per tutto Giuda, dicendo: «Nessuno manchi», e portaron via le pietre di Rama e il legname di cui Baasa si era servito e con essi il re Asa costruì Gabaa di Beniamino e Masfa.

25 Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and hereigned over Israel for two years.	25 Nadab poi figlio di Geroboamo regnò sopra Israele l'anno secondo di Asa, re di Giuda, e regnò due anni sopra Israele.
26 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he copied his father's example and the sin into which he hadled Israel.	26 E fece ciò che è male al cospetto del Signore e camminò nelle vie di suo padre, e nei peccati coi quali [suo padre] aveva fatto peccare Israele.
