1 Kings 15

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah	1 No décimo oitavo ano do reinado de Jeroboão, filho de Nabat, Abião tornou-se rei de Judá.
2 and reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah descendant of Absalom.	2 Reinou três anos em Jerusalém. Sua mãe chamava-se Maaca, filha de Absalão.
3 In everything he fol owed the sinful example of his father before him; his heart was not wholly withYahweh his God, as the heart of David his ancestor had been.	3 Abião entregou-se a todos os pecados que seu pai tinha cometido antes dele. Seu coração não era inteiramente fiel ao Senhor, como o de seu pai Davi.
4 However, for David's sake, Yahweh his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, with a son to succeed him,so keeping Jerusalem secure;	4 Todavia, o Senhor, seu Deus, em atenção a Davi, conservou-lhe uma lâmpada em Jerusalém: deu-lhe um filho que lhe sucedeu, e deixou subsistir Jerusalém.
5 for David had done what Yahweh regarded as right and had never in all his life disobeyed whatever hecommanded him (except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite).	5 Porque Davi tinha feito o que era reto aos olhos do Senhor, e não se tinha jamais desviado em toda a sua vida de um só dos mandamentos que recebera, exceto o que se passou com Urias, o hiteu.

8 When Abijam fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David; his son Asa succeededhim.	8 Depois disso, Abião adormeceu com seus pais e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi. Seu filho Asa sucedeu-lhe no trono.
9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa became king of Judah	9 No vigésimo ano de Jeroboão, rei de Israel, Asa tornou-se rei de Judá, e reinou quarenta e um anos em Jerusalém.
10 and reigned for forty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah descendant ofAbsalom.	10 Sua mãe chamava-se Maaca, filha de Absalão.
11 Asa did what Yahweh regards as right, as his ancestor David had done.	11 Asa fez o que é reto aos olhos do Senhor, como Davi, seu pai.
12 He drove the male prostitutes out of the country and got rid of all the idols which his ancestors hadmade.	12 Expulsou da terra as prostitutas {sagradas} e acabou com todos os ídolos que seus pais tinham feito.
13 He even deprived his grandmother Maacah of the dignity of Great Lady for having made an obscenityfor Asherah; Asa cut down her obscenity and burnt it in the ravine of the Kidron.	13 Além disso, destituiu da dignidade de rainha sua própria mãe Maaca, por ter feito essa vergonha de asserá. Asa despedaçou esse ídolo e queimou-o no vale de Cedron.
14 Though the high places were not abolished, Asa's heart was loyal to Yahweh throughout his life.	14 Embora não tenham desaparecido os lugares altos, o coração de Asa foi inteiramente devotado ao Senhor durante toda a sua vida.
15 He deposited his father's and his own dedicated gifts of silver, gold and sacred vessels in the Templeof Yahweh.	15 Pôs no templo do Senhor todos os objetos consagrados por seu pai e por ele mesmo, a prata, o ouro e os utensílios.
16 Asa and Baasha king of Israel were at war with each other throughout their reigns.	16 Asa e Baasa, rei de Israel, guerrearam-se mutuamente durante toda a sua vida.
17 Baasha king of Israel marched on Judah and fortified Ramah to blockade Asa king of Judah.	17 Baasa, rei de Israel, atacou Judá e fortificou Ramá, a fim de bloquear todas as suas comunicações com Asa, rei de Judá.
18 Asa then took al the remaining silver and gold left in the treasuries of the Temple of Yahweh and theroyal palace. Entrusting this to his servants, King Asa sent them with the fol owing message to Ben-Hadad sonof Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, the king of Aram who lived in Damascus,	18 Asa, porém, tomando toda a prata e o ouro que restavam nas reservas do templo do Senhor e do palácio real, pô-los nas mãos de seus servos que enviou a Ben-Hadad, filho de Tabremon, filho de Hezion, rei da Síria, que residia em Damasco, com esta mensagem:
19 'Let us make an al iance between myself and yourself, between my father and your father! Look, Ihave sent you a gift of silver and gold. Come, break off your al iance with Baasha king of Israel, which wil makehim withdraw from me.'	19 Façamos aliança, assim como foram aliados o teu pai e o meu. Mando-te um presente de prata e ouro, e peço-te que rompas tua aliança com Baasa, rei de Israel, para que ele cesse de me importunar.
20 Ben-Hadad listened favourably to King Asa, and sent the generals of his armies to attack the towns ofIsrael; he ravaged Ijon, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maacah, al Chinneroth, and the whole territory of Naphtali.	20 Ben-Hadad acedeu ao desejo do rei Asa; mandou seus generais contra as cidades de Israel, e devastou Aion, Dã, Abel, Bet-Maaca, todo o Cenerot com a terra de Neftali.
21 When Baasha heard this he gave up fortifying Ramah and retired to Tirzah.	21 Ao saber disso, Baasa abandonou a fortificação de Ramá e retirou-se para Tersa.
22 King Asa then summoned al Judah, no one was exempt; they took away the stones and timber withwhich Baasha had been fortifying Ramah, and King Asa used them to fortify Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.	22 Então o rei Asa convocou toda a tribo de Judá, sem exceção de ninguém, para tirar as pedras e a madeira de que Baasa se tinha servido para as fortificações de Ramá. 24 When Asa fell asleep with his ancestors, he was buried with his ancestors in the City of his ancestorDavid; his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him.	24 Adormeceu com seus pais e foi sepultado com eles na cidade de Davi, seu pai. Seu filho Josafá sucedeu-lhe no trono.
25 Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and hereigned over Israel for two years.	25 No segundo ano de Asa, rei de Judá, Nadab, filho de Jeroboão, tornou-se rei de Israel. Reinou dois anos em Israel.
26 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he copied his father's example and the sin into which he hadled Israel.	26 Ele fez o mal aos olhos do Senhor, imitou o seu pai, entregando-se ao pecado ao qual Jeroboão havia arrastado Israel.
27 Baasha son of Ahijah, of the House of Issachar, plotted against him and murdered him at Gibbethon,a Philistine town which Nadab and all Israel were besieging.	27 Baasa, filho de Aías, da casa de Issacar, conspirou contra ele, e assassinou-o diante de Gebeton dos filisteus, no tempo em que Nadab e todo o Israel sitiavam essa cidade.
28 Baasha kil ed Nadab and succeeded him in the third year of Asa king of Judah.	28 Baasa, no terceiro ano de Asa, rei de Judá, cometeu esse crime e sucedeu-lhe no trono.
29 No sooner was he king than he butchered the entire House of Jeroboam, not sparing a soul, and putan end to it, just as Yahweh had foretold through his servant Ahijah of Shiloh,	29 Logo que subiu ao trono, exterminou toda a casa de Jeroboão, não deixando alma viva. Exterminou-os completamente, como havia predito o Senhor pelo seu servo Aías, de Silo,
30 because of the sins which he had committed and into which he had led Israel, and because he hadprovoked the anger of Yahweh, God of Israel.	30 por causa dos pecados que Jeroboão cometeu e levou Israel a cometer, provocando assim a cólera do Senhor, Deus de Israel.

33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of Israel at Tirzah fortwenty-four years.	33 No terceiro ano de Asa, rei de Judá, Baasa, filho de Aías, tornou-se rei de Israel. Residia em Tersa, e reinou vinte e quatro anos.
34 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he copied the example of Jeroboam and the sin into which hehad led Israel.	34 Baasa fez o mal diante do Senhor; andou no caminho de Jeroboão, e entregou-se ao pecado ao qual Jeroboão arrastara Israel.
