1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah	1 Il diciottesimo anno del regno di Geroboam figliuolo di Nabat, regnò Abia sopra Giuda.
2 and reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah descendant of Absalom.	2 Ei regnò tre anni in Gerusalemme: sua madre chiamavasi Maacha figliuola di Abessalom.
3 In everything he fol owed the sinful example of his father before him; his heart was not wholly withYahweh his God, as the heart of David his ancestor had been.	3 Ed egli imitò in tutto i peccati fatti dal padre suo prima di lui; e il suo cuore non fu sincero verso il Signore Dio suo, come il cuore di Davidde suo padre.
4 However, for David's sake, Yahweh his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, with a son to succeed him,so keeping Jerusalem secure;	4 Ma per amor di Davidde il Signore Dio suo gli diede una lampana in Gerusalemme, suscitando dopo di lui il suo figliuolo, e tenendo in piedi Gerusalemme:
5 for David had done what Yahweh regarded as right and had never in all his life disobeyed whatever hecommanded him (except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite).	5 Perocché Davidde avea operato rettamente negli occhi del Signore, e non avea traviato in nulla da' suoi comandamenti per tutto il tempo di sua vita, eccetuato il fatto d'Uria di Heth.
6 .	6 Fu però guerra tra Roboamo, e Geroboam finche quegli visse.

8 When Abijam fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David; his son Asa succeededhim.	8 E Abia si addormentò co' padri suoi, e lo seppellirono nella città di Davidde: e Asa suo figliuolo gli succedette nel regno.
9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa became king of Judah	9 L'anno ventesimo adunque del regno di Geroboam re d'Israele, regnò Asa re di Giuda,

14 Though the high places were not abolished, Asa's heart was loyal to Yahweh throughout his life.	14 Ma non tolse i luoghi eccelsi: per altro il cuore di Asa fu perfetto inverso il Signore per tutto il tempo di sua vita.
15 He deposited his father's and his own dedicated gifts of silver, gold and sacred vessels in the Templeof Yahweh.	15 Ed ei portò nella casa del Signore le cose consagrate, e offerte in voto dal padre suo, l'argento, l'oro, e i vasi.
16 Asa and Baasha king of Israel were at war with each other throughout their reigns.	16 E fu guerra tra Asa, e Baasa re d'Israele per tutto il tempo della loro vita.
17 Baasha king of Israel marched on Judah and fortified Ramah to blockade Asa king of Judah.	17 E Baasa re d'Israele si avanzò ancora nel paese di Giuda, ed edificò Rama, affinchè nissuno potesse andare, e venire dalla parte di Asa re di Giuda.
18 Asa then took al the remaining silver and gold left in the treasuries of the Temple of Yahweh and theroyal palace. Entrusting this to his servants, King Asa sent them with the fol owing message to Ben-Hadad sonof Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, the king of Aram who lived in Damascus,	18 Quindi è, che Asa preso tutto l'argento, e l'oro, che era rimaso ne' tesori della casa del Signore, e ne' tesori della casa reale, lo messe in mano de' suoi servi, e li mandò a trovar Benadad figliuolo di Tabremon, figliuolo di Hezion, re della Siria, che abitava in Damasco, per dire a lui:
19 'Let us make an al iance between myself and yourself, between my father and your father! Look, Ihave sent you a gift of silver and gold. Come, break off your al iance with Baasha king of Israel, which wil makehim withdraw from me.'	19 Siamo confederati io, e tu, e il padre mio, e il padre tuo: per questo io ti mando in dono dell'argento, e dell'oro, e ti prego di venire, e rompere la confederazione, che hai con Baasa re d'Israele, ond'egli si ritiri da me.
20 Ben-Hadad listened favourably to King Asa, and sent the generals of his armies to attack the towns ofIsrael; he ravaged Ijon, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maacah, al Chinneroth, and the whole territory of Naphtali.	20 Benadad si prestò ai desideri del re Asa, e spedì i capitani del suo esercito contro le città d'Israele, ed espugnarono Ahion, e Dan, e Abel-casa di Maacha, e tutto il territorio di Cenneroth, viene a dire, tutta la terra di Neohthali
21 When Baasha heard this he gave up fortifying Ramah and retired to Tirzah.	21 Udito ciò Baasa, tralasciò di edificare Rama, e se ne tornò a Thersa.

In his old age, however, he contracted a disease of his feet.	23 Il resto poi delle azioni di Asa, etutte le imprese di lui, e tutto quello, ch'egli operò, e le città fondate da lui. Queste cose non son elleno scritte nel Diario dei re di Giuda? Ma egli in sua vecchiaia patì di male di gambe.
24 When Asa fell asleep with his ancestors, he was buried with his ancestors in the City of his ancestorDavid; his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him.	24 E si addormentò co padri suoi, e fu sepolto con essi nella città di David di suo padre. E Josaphat suo figliuolo gli succedette nel regno.
25 Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and hereigned over Israel for two years.	25 E Nadab figliuolo di Geroboam regnò sopra Israele il secondo anno di Asa re di Giuda: e regnò sopra Israele per due anni.
26 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he copied his father's example and the sin into which he hadled Israel.	26 E fece il male nel cospetto del Signore, e segui le tracce di suo padre, e i peccali, a' quali quegli aveva indotto Israele.
27 Baasha son of Ahijah, of the House of Issachar, plotted against him and murdered him at Gibbethon,a Philistine town which Nadab and all Israel were besieging.	27 Ma Baasa figliuolo di Ahia della tribù d'Issachar gli tese insidie: e lo uccise presso Gebbethon città de' Filistei; perocché Nadab, e tutto Israele erano all'assedio di Gebbethon.
28 Baasha kil ed Nadab and succeeded him in the third year of Asa king of Judah.	28 Baasa dunque lo uccise l'anno terzo di Asa re di Giuda, e succedette a lui nel regno
29 No sooner was he king than he butchered the entire House of Jeroboam, not sparing a soul, and putan end to it, just as Yahweh had foretold through his servant Ahijah of Shiloh,	29 E divenuto re, sterminò tutta la casa di Geroboam: non lasciò anima di quella stirpe, ma la distrusse interamente secondo la parola detta dal Signore per mezzo di Ahia Silonita suo servo:
30 because of the sins which he had committed and into which he had led Israel, and because he hadprovoked the anger of Yahweh, God of Israel.	30 (E ciò) in pena de' peccati, che avea commessi Geroboam, e avea fatto commettere ad Israele, e per la iniquità, colla quale avea irritato il Signore Dio d'Israele.
