1 Kings 15

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijam became king of Judah	1 La dix-huitième année du roi Jéroboam fils de Nebat, Abiyyam devint roi de Juda
2 and reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah descendant of Absalom.	2 et régna trois ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s'appelait Maaka, fille d'Absalom.
3 In everything he fol owed the sinful example of his father before him; his heart was not wholly withYahweh his God, as the heart of David his ancestor had been.	3 Il imita les péchés que son père avait commis avant lui et son coeur ne fut pas tout entier à Yahvéson Dieu comme le coeur de son ancêtre David.
4 However, for David's sake, Yahweh his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, with a son to succeed him,so keeping Jerusalem secure;	4 Pourtant, en considération de David, Yahvé son Dieu lui donna une lampe à Jérusalem, enmaintenant son fils après lui et en épargnant Jérusalem.
5 for David had done what Yahweh regarded as right and had never in all his life disobeyed whatever hecommanded him (except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite).	5 En effet David avait fait ce qui est juste aux yeux de Yahvé et il ne s'était dérobé à rien de ce qu'illui avait ordonné durant toute sa vie (sauf dans l'histoire d'Urie le Hittite).

Il y eut guerre entre Abiyyam et Jéroboam.
8 When Abijam fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in the City of David; his son Asa succeededhim.	8 Puis Abiyyam se coucha avec ses pères et on l'enterra dans la Cité de David; son fils Asa régna à saplace.
9 In the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa became king of Judah	9 La vingtième année de Jéroboam, roi d'Israël, Asa devint roi de Juda
10 and reigned for forty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Maacah descendant ofAbsalom.	10 et régna 41 ans à Jérusalem; sa grand-mère s'appelait Maaka, fille d'Absalom.
11 Asa did what Yahweh regards as right, as his ancestor David had done.	11 Asa fit ce qui est juste aux yeux de Yahvé, comme son ancêtre David.
12 He drove the male prostitutes out of the country and got rid of all the idols which his ancestors hadmade.	12 Il expulsa du pays les prostitués sacrés et supprima toutes les idoles que ses pères avaient faites.
13 He even deprived his grandmother Maacah of the dignity of Great Lady for having made an obscenityfor Asherah; Asa cut down her obscenity and burnt it in the ravine of the Kidron.	13 Même il enleva à sa grand-mère la dignité de Grande Dame, parce qu'elle avait fait une horreurpour Ashéra; Asa abattit son horreur et la brûla dans la vallée du Cédron.
14 Though the high places were not abolished, Asa's heart was loyal to Yahweh throughout his life.	14 Les hauts lieux ne disparurent pas; pourtant le coeur d'Asa fut tout entier à Yahvé pendant toute savie.
15 He deposited his father's and his own dedicated gifts of silver, gold and sacred vessels in the Templeof Yahweh.	15 Il déposa dans le Temple de Yahvé les offrandes consacrées par son père et ses propres offrandes,de l'argent, de l'or et du mobilier.
16 Asa and Baasha king of Israel were at war with each other throughout their reigns.	16 Il y eut guerre entre Asa et Basha, roi d'Israël, tant qu'ils vécurent.
17 Baasha king of Israel marched on Judah and fortified Ramah to blockade Asa king of Judah.	17 Basha, roi d'Israël, marcha contre Juda et il fortifia Rama pour bloquer les communications d'Asa,roi de Juda.
18 Asa then took al the remaining silver and gold left in the treasuries of the Temple of Yahweh and theroyal palace. Entrusting this to his servants, King Asa sent them with the fol owing message to Ben-Hadad sonof Tabrimmon, son of Hezion, the king of Aram who lived in Damascus,	18 Alors Asa prit l'argent et l'or qui restaient dans les trésors du Temple de Yahvé et ceux du palaisroyal. Il les remit à ses serviteurs et envoya ceux-ci vers Ben-Hadad fils de Tabrimmôn fils de Hèzyôn, le roid'Aram qui résidait à Damas, avec ce message:
19 'Let us make an al iance between myself and yourself, between my father and your father! Look, Ihave sent you a gift of silver and gold. Come, break off your al iance with Baasha king of Israel, which wil makehim withdraw from me.'	19 "Alliance entre moi et toi, entre mon père et ton père! Je t'envoie un présent d'argent et d'or: va,romps ton alliance avec Basha, roi d'Israël, pour qu'il s'éloigne de moi!"
20 Ben-Hadad listened favourably to King Asa, and sent the generals of his armies to attack the towns ofIsrael; he ravaged Ijon, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maacah, al Chinneroth, and the whole territory of Naphtali.	20 Ben-Hadad exauça le roi Asa et envoya ses chefs d'armée contre les villes d'Israël; il conquitIyyôn, Dan, Abel-Bet-Maaka, tout Kinnerot et même tout le pays de Nephtali.
21 When Baasha heard this he gave up fortifying Ramah and retired to Tirzah.	21 Quand Basha l'apprit, il arrêta les travaux à Rama et retourna à Tirça.
22 King Asa then summoned al Judah, no one was exempt; they took away the stones and timber withwhich Baasha had been fortifying Ramah, and King Asa used them to fortify Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.	22 Le roi Asa convoqua tout Juda, sans exemption pour personne; on enleva les pierres et le bois aveclesquels Basha fortifiait Rama et le roi en fortifia Géba de Benjamin et Miçpa.
23 The rest of the history of Asa, al his valour, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of theAnnals of the Kings of Judah? In his old age, however, he contracted a disease of his feet.	23 Le reste de l'histoire d'Asa, toute sa vaillance et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre desAnnales des rois de Juda? Seulement, au temps de sa vieillesse, il eut les pieds malades.
24 When Asa fell asleep with his ancestors, he was buried with his ancestors in the City of his ancestorDavid; his son Jehoshaphat succeeded him.	24 Asa se coucha avec ses pères et on l'enterra dans la Cité de David, son ancêtre. Son fils Josaphatrégna à sa place.
25 Nadab son of Jeroboam became king of Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and hereigned over Israel for two years.	25 Nadab, fils de Jéroboam, devint roi d'Israël, en la deuxième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et régna deuxans sur Israël.
26 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he copied his father's example and the sin into which he hadled Israel.	26 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé: il imita la conduite de son père et le péché où celui-ci avait entraînéIsraël.
27 Baasha son of Ahijah, of the House of Issachar, plotted against him and murdered him at Gibbethon,a Philistine town which Nadab and all Israel were besieging.	27 Basha fils d'Ahiyya, de la maison d'Issachar, conspira contre lui et l'assassina à Gibbetôn, villephilistine qu'assiégeaient Nadab et tout Israël.
28 Baasha kil ed Nadab and succeeded him in the third year of Asa king of Judah.	28 Basha le fit périr dans la troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, et régna à sa place.
29 No sooner was he king than he butchered the entire House of Jeroboam, not sparing a soul, and putan end to it, just as Yahweh had foretold through his servant Ahijah of Shiloh,	29 Devenu roi, il massacra toute la maison de Jéroboam sans épargner personne, jusqu'àl'extermination, selon la parole que Yahvé avait dite par le ministère de son serviteur Ahiyya de Silo,
30 because of the sins which he had committed and into which he had led Israel, and because he hadprovoked the anger of Yahweh, God of Israel.	30 pour les péchés qu'il avait commis et où il avait entraîné Israël et pour l'irritation qu'il avait causéeà Yahvé Dieu d'Israël.
31 The rest of the history of Nadab, his entire career, is this not recorded in	31 Le reste de l'histoire de Nadab, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Annales desrois d'Israël?

33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha son of Ahijah became king of Israel at Tirzah fortwenty-four years.	33 La troisième année d'Asa, roi de Juda, Basha, fils d'Ahiyya, devint roi sur Israël à Tirça, pour 24ans.
34 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he copied the example of Jeroboam and the sin into which hehad led Israel.	34 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé, et il imita la conduite de Jéroboam et le péché où il avait entraînéIsraël.
