Luke 19

1 He came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town.	1 Er ging nach Jericho hinein und wollte hindurchziehen.
2 Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man,	2 Und siehe, ein Mann, Zachäus mit Namen, ein reicher Oberzöllner,
3 was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature.	3 suchte Jesus von Angesicht zu sehen; doch bei der Volksmenge konnte er es nicht denn er war klein von Gestalt.
4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way.	4 Da lief er voraus und stieg auf einen Maulbeerfeigenbaum, um ihn zu sehen; denn da sollte er vorbeikommen.
5 When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house."	5 Als Jesus an die Stelle kam, schaute er hinauf und sprach zu ihm: "Zachäus, steige schnell herab; denn heute muß ich in deinem Hause bleiben."
6 And he came down quickly and received him with joy.	6 Eilends stieg er herab und nahm ihn voll Freude auf.
7 When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner."	7 Da murrten alle, die es sahen, und sagten: "Bei einem sündigen Mann trat er ein, um Einkehr zu halten."
8 But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, "Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over."	8 Zachäus aber trat vor den Herrn und sagte zu ihm: "Siehe, Herr, die Hälfte meines Besitzes gebe ich den Armen, und habe ich jemand um etwas betrogen, will ich es vierfach erstatten."
9 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham.	9 Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Heute ist diesem Haus Heil widerfahren; ist doch auch er ein Sohn Abrahams.
10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost."	10 Denn der Menschensohn ist gekommen, "zu suchen und zu retten, was verloren war"" (Ez 34,16).
11 While they were listening to him speak, he proceeded to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God would appear there immediately.	11 Während sie diesen Worten lauschten, fügte er ein Gleichnis hinzu, weil er nahe vor Jerusalem war und sie meinten, das Reich Gottes sei im Begriff, alsbald in Erscheinung zu treten.
12 So he said, "A nobleman went off to a distant country to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return.	12 So sprach er denn: "Ein vornehmer Mann zog in ein fernes Land, um sich die Königswürde zu erwerben und wieder zurückzukommen.
13 He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins and told them, 'Engage in trade with these until I return.'	13 Er rief zehn seiner Knechte zu sich, gab ihnen zehn Minen und sprach zu ihnen: Macht Geschäfte damit, bis ich komme!
14 His fellow citizens, however, despised him and sent a delegation after him to announce, 'We do not want this man to be our king.'	14 Seine Mitbürger aber haßten ihn und schickten eine Gesandtschaft hinter ihm her, die erklären sollte: Wir wollen nicht, daß dieser König sei über uns.
15 But when he returned after obtaining the kingship, he had the servants called, to whom he had given the money, to learn what they had gained by trading.	15 Und es geschah, als er nach Erlangung der Königswürde zurückkam, ließ er jene Knechte rufen, denen er das Geld gegeben hatte, um zu erfahren, was ein jeder an Geschäften gemacht habe.
16 The first came forward and said, 'Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.'	16 Es kam der erste und sprach: Herr, deine Mine hat zehn Minen eingebracht.
17 He replied, 'Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter; take charge of ten cities.'	17 Er sagte zu ihm: Recht so, du guter Knecht; weil du in so Geringem treu warst, sollst du Macht haben über zehn Städte.
18 Then the second came and reported, 'Your gold coin, sir, has earned five more.'	18 Es kam der zweite und sprach: Deine Mine, Herr, hat fünf Minen getragen.
19 And to this servant too he said, 'You, take charge of five cities.'	19 Er sagte auch zu diesem: Und du sollst über fünf Städte gesetzt sein.
20 Then the other servant came and said, 'Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it stored away in a handkerchief,	20 Der andere kam und sprach: Herr, hier ist deine Mine; ich hielt sie im Schweißtuch verwahrt;
21 for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding person; you take up what you did not lay down and you harvest what you did not plant.'	21 denn ich fürchtete dich, weil du ein harter Mann bist. Du nimmst, was du nicht eingelegt, und erntest, was du nicht gesät hast.
22 He said to him, 'With your own words I shall condemn you, you wicked servant. You knew I was a demanding person, taking up what I did not lay down and harvesting what I did not plant;	22 Er sagte zu ihm: Aus deinem eigenen Munde nehme ich das Urteil für dich, du böser Knecht! Du wußtest, daß ich ein harter Mann bin, daß ich nehme, was ich nicht eingelegt, und ernte, was ich nicht gesät habe.
23 why did you not put my money in a bank? Then on my return I would have collected it with interest.'	23 Warum gabst du mein Geld nicht auf die Bank? Ich hätte bei meiner Rückkehr es mit Zinsen abheben können.
24 And to those standing by he said, 'Take the gold coin from him and give it to the servant who has ten.'	24 Und er sagte zu den Umstehenden: Nehmt ihm die Mine und gebt sie dem, der die zehn Minen hat!
25 But they said to him, 'Sir, he has ten gold coins.'	25 Sie entgegneten ihm: Herr, der hat schon zehn Minen!
26 'I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.	26 Ich sage euch: Jedem, der hat, wird gegeben; wer aber nicht hat, dem wird auch das, was er hat, genommen werden.
27 Now as for those enemies of mine who did not want me as their king, bring them here and slay them before me.'"	27 Meine Feinde aber, die nicht haben wollten, daß ich König sei über sie, führt hierher und macht sie nieder vor meinen Augen!"
28 After he had said this, he proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem.	28 Nach diesen Worten zog er weiter voran, hinauf nach Jerusalem.
29 As he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany at the place called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples.	29 Und es geschah, als er in die Nähe von Bethphage und Bethanien an den Berg kam, der Ölberg genannt wird, sandte er zwei Jünger voraus
30 He said, "Go into the village opposite you, and as you enter it you will find a colt tethered on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it here.	30 und sprach: "Geht in das Dorf dort vor euch, und kommt ihr hinein, werdet ihr ein Füllen finden, das angebunden ist und auf dem noch nie jemand saß; macht es los und bringt es her!
31 And if anyone should ask you, 'Why are you untying it?' you will answer, 'The Master has need of it.'"	31 Wenn euch jemand fragt: Warum macht ihr es los?, so sagt ihm: Der Herr bedarf seiner."
32 So those who had been sent went off and found everything just as he had told them.	32 Die Abgesandten gingen hin und fanden es so, wie er ihnen gesagt hatte.
33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, "Why are you untying this colt?"	33 Als sie aber das Füllen losmachten, sagten dessen Eigentümer zu ihnen: "Warum macht ihr das Füllen los?"
34 They answered, "The Master has need of it."	34 Sie erwiderten: "Der Herr bedarf seiner."
35 So they brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks over the colt, and helped Jesus to mount.	35 Sie führten es zu Jesus und warfen dem Füllen ihre Kleider über und hoben Jesus hinauf.
36 As he rode along, the people were spreading their cloaks on the road;	36 Während er dahinzog, breiteten sie ihre Kleider auf den Weg,
37 and now as he was approaching the slope of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of his disciples began to praise God aloud with joy for all the mighty deeds they had seen.	37 und als er sich schon dem Abstieg vom Ölberg näherte, begann die ganze Menge der Jünger, voll Freude mit lauter Stimme Gott zu loben wegen all der Wunder, die sie gesehen hatten,
38 They proclaimed: "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest."	38 und sie riefen: "Gepriesen sei, der da kommt, der König im Namen des Herrn (Ps 118,26)! Im Himmel ist Friede und Ehre in der Höhe!"
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples."	39 Einige der Pharisäer riefen aus der Menge ihm zu: "Meister, verbiete es deinen Jüngern!"
40 He said in reply, "I tell you, if they keep silent, the stones will cry out!"	40 Er antwortete ihnen: "Ich sage euch, wenn diese schweigen, "werden die Steine rufen" (Hab 2,11)."
41 As he drew near, he saw the city and wept over it,	41 Als er näherkam und die Stadt erblickte, weinte er über sie und sprach:
42 saying, "If this day you only knew what makes for peace--but now it is hidden from your eyes.	42 "Wenn doch an diesem Tag auch du es erkenntest, was zum Frieden dient! Nun aber ist es verborgen vor deinen Augen!
43 For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides.	43 Denn es werden Tage über dich kommen, da deine Feinde einen Wall um dich aufwerfen und dich einschließen und bedrängen werden von allen Seiten.
44 They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."	44 Sie werden dich niedermachen und deine Kinder in dir und nicht Stein auf Stein in dir lassen, weil du die Zeit deiner Heimsuchung nicht erkannt hast."
45 Then Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things,	45 Und er betrat den Tempel und begann, die Verkäufer hinauszutreiben,
46 saying to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.'"	46 indem er zu ihnen sprach: "Es steht geschrieben: "Mein Haus ist ein Bethaus" (Is 56,7); ihr aber habt es zu einer "Räuberhöhle" (Jer 7,11) gemacht."
47 And every day he was teaching in the temple area. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death,	47 Täglich war er im Tempel und lehrte. Die Hohenpriester aber und die Schriftgelehrten suchten ihn zu vernichten, ebenso auch die Führer des Volkes,
48 but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.	48 doch sie fanden nicht, was sie tun könnten; denn das ganze Volk war voll Spannung, wenn es ihn hörte.
