NEW AMERICAN BIBLE | NOVA VULGATA |
---|---|
For the leader. Do not destroy. A miktam of David. | 1 Magistro chori. Secundum " Ne destruxeris ". David. Miktam. |
Do you indeed pronounce justice, O gods; do you judge mortals fairly? | 2 Numquid vere, potentes, iustitiam loquimini, recte iudicatis filios hominum? |
No, you freely engage in crime; your hands dispense violence to the earth. | 3 Etenim in corde iniquitates operamini, in terra violentiam manus vestrae concinnant. |
The wicked have been corrupt since birth; liars from the womb, they have gone astray. | 4 Alienati sunt peccatores ab utero; erraverunt a ventre, qui loquuntur falsa. |
Their poison is like the poison of a snake, like that of a serpent stopping its ears, | 5 Venenum illis in similitudinem serpentis, sicut aspidis surdae et obturantis aures suas, |
So as not to hear the voice of the charmer who casts such cunning spells. | 6 quae non exaudiet vocem incantantium et venefici incantantis sapienter. |
O God, smash the teeth in their mouths; break the jaw-teeth of these lions, LORD! | 7 Deus, contere dentes eorum in ore ipsorum; molas leonum confringe, Domine. |
Make them vanish like water flowing away; trodden down, let them wither like grass. | 8 Diffluant tamquam aqua decurrens, sicut fenum conculcatum arescant. |
Let them dissolve like a snail that oozes away, like an untimely birth that never sees the sun. | 9 Sicut limax, quae tabescens transit, sicut abortivum mulieris, quod non viditsolem. |
Suddenly, like brambles or thistles, have the whirlwind snatch them away. | 10 Priusquam sentiant ollae vestrae rhamnum, sicut viventes, sicut ardor irae absorbet eos. |
Then the just shall rejoice to see the vengeance and bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked. | 11 Laetabitur iustus, cum viderit vindictam, pedes suos lavabit in sanguine peccatoris. |
Then it will be said: "Truly there is a reward for the just; there is a God who is judge on earth!" | 12 Et dicet homo: “ Utique est fructus iusto, utique est Deus iudicans eos in terra ”. |
