Psalms 58

1 For the leader. Do not destroy. A miktam of David.	1 Del maestro de coro. «No destruyas». De David. Mictán.
2 Do you indeed pronounce justice, O gods; do you judge mortals fairly?	2 ¿Acaso ustedes, los poderosos, pronuncian realmente sentencias justas y gobiernan a los hombres con rectitud?
3 No, you freely engage in crime; your hands dispense violence to the earth.	3 ¡No! Ustedes cometen injusticias a plena conciencia y favorecen la opresión en la tierra.
4 The wicked have been corrupt since birth; liars from the womb, they have gone astray.	4 Los impíos están extraviados desde el seno materno; desde su nacimiento se descarriaron los impostores.
5 Their poison is like the poison of a snake, like that of a serpent stopping its ears,	5 Tienen un veneno semejante al de las víboras; son como una serpiente sorda, que cierra los oídos,
6 So as not to hear the voice of the charmer who casts such cunning spells.	6 para no oír la voz del encantador, la voz del mago que ejerce su arte con destreza.
7 O God, smash the teeth in their mouths; break the jaw-teeth of these lions, LORD!	7 Rómpeles, Dios mío, los dientes en la boca; arráncales, Señor, esos colmillos de leones.
8 Make them vanish like water flowing away; trodden down, let them wither like grass.	8 Que se diluyan como agua que se evapora; que se marchiten como hierba pisoteada.
9 Let them dissolve like a snail that oozes away, like an untimely birth that never sees the sun.	9 Sean como una babosa que se deshace al pasar, como un aborto de mujer que no llegó a ver el sol.
10 Suddenly, like brambles or thistles, have the whirlwind snatch them away.	10 Que los arrastre el vendaval –verdes o quemados– antes que produzcan espinas como una zarza.
11 Then the just shall rejoice to see the vengeance and bathe their feet in the blood of the wicked.	11 El justo se alegrará al contemplar la Venganza y lavará sus pies en la sangre de los impíos.
12 Then it will be said: "Truly there is a reward for the just; there is a God who is judge on earth!"	12 Entonces dirán los hombres: «Sí, el justo recibe su recompensa; sí, hay un Dios que hace justicia en la tierra».
