2 O God, we have heard with our own ears; our ancestors have told us The deeds you did in their days, with your own hand in days of old:	2 Isten, tulajdon fülünkkel hallottuk, atyáink beszélték el nekünk, mit műveltél napjaikban, a hajdankor napjaiban.
3 You rooted out nations to plant them, crushed peoples to make room for them.	3 Nemzeteket szórt szét kezed, őket pedig elültetted, népeket sanyargattál meg, őket pedig kiterjesztetted.
4 Not with their own swords did they conquer the land, nor did their own arms bring victory; It was your right hand, your own arm, the light of your face for you favored them.	4 Nem kardjukkal szereztek országot, s nem karjuk juttatta diadalra őket, hanem a te jobbod, a te karod, s arcod ragyogása, mert bennük lelted kedvedet.
5 You are my king and my God, who bestows victories on Jacob.	5 Te vagy az én királyom és Istenem, te küldesz segítséget Jákobnak.
6 Through you we batter our foes; through your name, trample our adversaries.	6 Általad ökleljük ellenségeinket, neveddel tiporjuk le támadóinkat.
7 Not in my bow do I trust, nor does my sword bring me victory.	7 Mert nem az íjamban bízom, nem a kardom hoz szabadulást nekem.
8 You have brought us victory over our enemies, shamed those who hate us.	8 Sanyargatóinktól te mentesz meg minket, és te szégyeníted meg gyűlölőinket.
9 In God we have boasted all the day long; your name we will praise forever. Selah	9 Mindennap Istenben dicsekszünk, és a te nevedet magasztaljuk mindörökké.
10 But now you have rejected and disgraced us; you do not march out with our armies.	10 De most elvetettél és szégyenben hagytál minket, nem vonultál ki seregeinkkel, ó Isten.
11 You make us retreat before the foe; those who hate us plunder us at will.	11 Megfutamítottál ellenségeink előtt, és gyűlölőink fosztogatnak minket.
12 You hand us over like sheep to be slaughtered, scatter us among the nations.	12 Vágójuhok gyanánt odaadtál minket, szétszórtál a nemzetek között.
13 You sell your people for nothing; you make no profit from their sale.	13 Népedet ár nélkül eladtad, nem lettél gazdagabb a cserével.
14 You make us the reproach of our neighbors, the mockery and scorn of those around us.	14 Kiszolgáltattál szomszédaink gyalázásának, azok nevetésének és gúnyolódásának, akik körülöttünk laknak.
15 You make us a byword among the nations; the peoples shake their heads at us.	15 Példabeszédül vetettél minket a nemzeteknek, fejüket csóválgatják fölöttünk a népek.
16 All day long my disgrace is before me; shame has covered my face	16 Egész nap szemem előtt van szégyenem, s arcom gyalázata elborít engem,
17 At the sound of those who taunt and revile, at the sight of the spiteful enemy.	17 hogy gúnyolódót és szidalmazót kell hallanom, ellenséget és üldözőt kell látnom.
18 All this has come upon us, though we have not forgotten you, nor been disloyal to your covenant.	18 Mindez ránk szakadt, pedig mi nem feledtünk el téged, nem szegtük meg szövetségedet.
19 Our hearts have not turned back, nor have our steps strayed from your path.	19 Szívünk nem fordult el tőled, és nem tértek el ösvényeink a te utaidtól,
20 Yet you have left us crushed, desolate in a place of jackals; you have covered us with darkness.	20 noha kiűztél minket a sakálok helyére, és beborítottál minket a halál árnyékával.
21 If we had forgotten the name of our God, stretched out our hands to another god,	21 Ha Istenünk nevét elfeledtük volna, ha más istenek felé tártuk volna kezünket,
22 Would not God have discovered this, God who knows the secrets of the heart?	22 nemde számonkérné azt Isten? Hiszen ő ismeri a szív rejtekeit.
23 For you we are slain all the day long, considered only as sheep to be slaughtered.	23 Ámde minket mindenkor teérted gyilkolnak, és levágásra szánt juhoknak tartanak.
24 Awake! Why do you sleep, O Lord? Rise up! Do not reject us forever!	24 Ébredj fel, miért alszol, Uram? Ébredj fel, ne taszíts el végleg!
25 Why do you hide your face; why forget our pain and misery?	25 Miért fordítod el arcodat, s felejted el ínségünket és szorongatásunkat?
26 We are bowed down to the ground; our bodies are pressed to the earth.	26 Hisz lelkünk a porba hanyatlott, testünk a földhöz tapadt. Kelj, Uram, segítségünkre, és irgalmadban válts meg minket!
27 Rise up, help us! Redeem us as your love demands.
