Job 11

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 And Zophar the Naamathite spoke out and said:	1 Sofar de Naamá respondió, diciendo:
2 Should not the man of many words be answered, or must the garrulous man necessarily be right?	2 ¿No habrá una respuesta para tanto palabrerío? ¿Tendrá siempre razón el que habla demasiado?
3 Shall your babblings keep men silent, and shall you deride and no one give rebuke?	3 ¿Tu locuacidad hará callar a los demás y te burlarás sin que nadie te confunda?
4 Shall you say: "My teaching is pure, and I am clean in your sight"?	4 Tú has dicho: «Mi doctrina es pura y estoy limpio ante tus ojos».
5 But oh, that God would speak, and open his lips against you,	5 En cambio, si Dios hablara y abriera sus labios contra ti;
6 And tell you that the secrets of wisdom are twice as effective: So you might learn that God will make you answer for your guilt.	6 si te revelara los secretos de la sabiduría, tan sutiles para el entendimiento, sabrías que Dios olvida una parte de tu culpa.
7 Can you penetrate the designs of God? Dare you vie with the perfection of the Almighty?	7 ¿Puedes tú escrutar las profundidades de Dios o vislumbrar la perfección del Todopoderoso?
8 It is higher than the heavens; what can you do? It is deeper than the nether world; what can you know?	8 Ella es más alta que el cielo: ¿qué puedes hacer tú? Es mas honda que el Abismo: ¿qué puedes entender?
9 It is longer than the earth in measure, and broader than the sea.	9 Por su extensión, es más larga que la tierra y más ancha que el mar.
10 If he seize and imprison or call to judgment, who then can say him nay?	10 Si Dios pasa y aprisiona, y si convoca a juicio, ¿quién se lo impedirá?
11 For he knows the worthlessness of men and sees iniquity; will he then ignore it?	11 El conoce a los hombres falsos, ve la maldad ¿y no la sabrá discernir?
12 Will empty man then gain understanding, and the wild jackass be made docile?	12 Pero un necio asentará cabeza cuando se domestique un asno salvaje de la estepa.
13 If you set your heart aright and stretch out your hands toward him,	13 En cuanto a ti, si enderezas tu corazón y extiendes tus manos hacia Dios,
14 If you remove all iniquity from your conduct, and let not injustice dwell in your tent,	14 si alejas la maldad que hay en tus manos y no dejas que la injusticia habite en tu carpa,
15 Surely then you may lift up your face in innocence; you may stand firm and unafraid.	15 entonces sí erguirás tu frente inmaculada, estarás firme y nada temerás.
16 For then you shall forget your misery, or recall it like waters that have ebbed away.	16 Así te olvidarás de las penas, las recordarás como una correntada pasajera.
17 Then your life shall be brighter than the noonday; its gloom shall become as the morning,	17 La vida se alzará más radiante que el mediodía, la oscuridad será como una alborada.
18 And you shall be secure, because there is hope; you shall look round you and lie down in safety,	18 Estarás seguro, porque habrá una esperanza; observarás a tu alrededor, y te acostarás tranquilo.
19 and you shall take your rest with none to disturb. Many shall entreat your favor,	19 Descansarás sin que nadie te perturbe y muchos tratarán de ganarse tu favor.
20 but the wicked, looking on, shall be consumed with envy. Escape shall be cut off from them, they shall wait to expire.	20 Pero los ojos de los malvados se consumen, les falta todo refugio y el último suspiro será su única esperanza.
