Psalms 73

1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.	1 - Ode di Asaf. Perchè, o Dio, [ci] hai rigettato per sempre?[perchè] divampa il tuo furore contro le pecorelle del tuo pascolo?
2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.	2 Ricordati del popol tuo, che t'acquistasti da principio, [e] riscattasti [per farne] la tribù della tua eredità, [ricordati del] monte Sion, sul quale tu hai posto la tua sede!
3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.	3 Alza le tue mani sulle superbie loro per sempre: quanti danni ha fatto il nemico nel santuario!
4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.	4 Si son gloriati i tuoi odiatori in mezzo [al luogo] della tua solennità, v'han posto ad insegna le loro insegne
5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.	5 - stolti che furono! - proprio all' ingresso, su in alto. Quasi [fossero] in una selva d'alberi, con le scuri
6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.	6 han spezzato le sue porte a un tempo, con la scure e l'ascia [le] hanno abbattute!
7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.	7 Han messo a fuoco il tuo santuario, han profanato e atterrato il tabernacolo del tuo nome!
8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.	8 Han detto in cuor loro tutta la loro schiatta:«Sopprimiamo tutte le feste di Dio di sulla terra!».
9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.	9 Le nostre insegne non le vediamo [più], non c'è più un profeta, nè c'è alcuno tra noi che sappia sino a quando [tutto ciò avrà a durare].
10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.	10 Sino a quando, o Dio, bestemmierà il nemico, [e] l'avversario schernirà sempre il tuo nome?
11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?	11 Perchè allontani la tua mano, e la tua destra [non trai fuori] dal tuo seno mai?
12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.	12 Ma Dio è il nostro re da' secoli antichi, ha fatto [prodigi di] salvezza in mezzo alla terra!
13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.	13 Tu rassodasti con la tua potenza il mare, tu stritolasti il capo de' draghi nelle acque.
14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.	14 Tu spezzasti la testa del drago [marino] e la desti in pasto alle bestie del deserto.
15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.	15 Tu facesti scaturire le fonti e i torrenti, tu seccasti i fiumi perenni.
16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;	16 Tuo è il giorno e tua è la notte, tu hai creato la luna e il sole.
17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.	17 Tu hai fissato tutti i confini della terra; l'estate e l' inverno tu gli hai formati.
18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.	18 Ricordati di questo: il nemico ha bestemmiato il Signore, e un popolo stolto ha schernito il tuo nome!
19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.	19 Non abbandonare alle belve le anime a te fedeli, e le anime de' tuoi miseri non dimenticar per sempre.
20 As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.	20 Riguarda al tuo patto! Perchè gli [angoli più] oscuri della terra son pieni di covi di iniquità.
21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.	21 L'oppresso non se ne torni via confuso!il misero e il bisognoso lodino il tuo nome!
22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.	22 Sorgi, o Dio, sostieni la tua causa, ricorda gli oltraggi che ti si fan dallo stolto tutto il dì.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.	23 Non dimenticar le grida de' tuoi nemici, la superbia di quei che t'odiano cresce sempre!
24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
