Psalms 73

1 Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.	1 Salmo. Di Asaf.Quanto è buono Dio con gli uomini retti,Dio con i puri di cuore!
2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.	2 Ma io per poco non inciampavo,quasi vacillavano i miei passi,
3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.	3 perché ho invidiato i prepotenti,vedendo il successo dei malvagi.
4 For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.	4 Fino alla morte infatti non hanno sofferenzee ben pasciuto è il loro ventre.
5 They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.	5 Non si trovano mai nell’affanno dei mortalie non sono colpiti come gli altri uomini.
6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.	6 Dell’orgoglio si fanno una collanae indossano come abito la violenza.
7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.	7 I loro occhi sporgono dal grasso,dal loro cuore escono follie.
8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.	8 Scherniscono e parlano con malizia,parlano dall’alto con prepotenza.
9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.	9 Aprono la loro bocca fino al cieloe la loro lingua percorre la terra.
10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.	10 Perciò il loro popolo li seguee beve la loro acqua in abbondanza.
11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?	11 E dicono: «Dio, come può saperlo?L’Altissimo, come può conoscerlo?».
12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.	12 Ecco, così sono i malvagi:sempre al sicuro, ammassano ricchezze.
13 Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.	13 Invano dunque ho conservato puro il mio cuore,e ho lavato nell’innocenza le mie mani!
14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.	14 Perché sono colpito tutto il giornoe fin dal mattino sono castigato?
15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.	15 Se avessi detto: «Parlerò come loro»,avrei tradito la generazione dei tuoi figli.
16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;	16 Riflettevo per comprendere questoma fu una fatica ai miei occhi,
17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.	17 finché non entrai nel santuario di Dioe compresi quale sarà la loro fine.
18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.	18 Ecco, li poni in luoghi scivolosi,li fai cadere in rovina.
19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.	19 Sono distrutti in un istante!Sono finiti, consumati dai terrori!
20 As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.	20 Come un sogno al risveglio, Signore,così, quando sorgi, fai svanire la loro immagine.
21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.	21 Quando era amareggiato il mio cuoree i miei reni trafitti dal dolore,
22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.	22 io ero insensato e non capivo,stavo davanti a te come una bestia.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.	23 Ma io sono sempre con te:tu mi hai preso per la mano destra.
24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.	24 Mi guiderai secondo i tuoi disegnie poi mi accoglierai nella gloria.
25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.	25 Chi avrò per me nel cielo?Con te non desidero nulla sulla terra.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.	26 Vengono meno la mia carne e il mio cuore;ma Dio è roccia del mio cuore,mia parte per sempre.
27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.	27 Ecco, si perderà chi da te si allontana;tu distruggi chiunque ti è infedele.
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.	28 Per me, il mio bene è stare vicino a Dio;nel Signore Dio ho posto il mio rifugio,per narrare tutte le tue opere.
