Job 8

1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,	1 Bildad lo Shukhita prese a dire:
2 How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?	2 «Fino a quando parlerai così e i detti della tua bocca saranno vento impetuoso?
3 Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?	3 Dio storce forse il diritto e Shaddai perverte la giustizia?
4 If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;	4 Se i tuoi figli hanno peccato contro di lui ed egli li ha abbandonati alla loro colpa,
5 If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;	5 tu, però, ricorri a Dio e a Shaddai chiedi grazia;
6 If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.	6 se sarai puro e retto, certo veglierà subito su di te e reintegrerà la dimora della tua giustizia.
7 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.	7 E sarà la tua prima fortuna poca cosa, mentre la seconda diventerà molto grande.
8 For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:	8 Infatti, interroga pure le generazioni precedenti, scruta attentamente l’esperienza dei loro padri:
9 (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)	9 infatti noi siamo di ieri e nulla sappiamo, poiché un’ombra sono i nostri giorni sulla terra.
10 Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?	10 Non hanno da istruirti parlandoti e traendo dal loro cuore le parole?
11 Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?	11 Può crescere il giunco fuori dello stagno e l’alga svilupparsi senz’acqua?
12 Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.	12 Ancora verdeggiante, non pronta per il taglio, seccherebbe prima d’ogni altra erba:
13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:	13 così è la sorte di chi dimentica Dio e la speranza dell’empio svanirà;
14 Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.	14 poiché la sua fiducia è un filo e una casa di ragno la sua speranza:
15 He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.	15 si appoggia alla sua casa, ma questa non regge; vi si aggrappa, ma essa non resiste.
16 He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.	16 È bagnato prima del sole e sopra il giardino escono i suoi germogli;
17 His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.	17 nella ghiaia le sue radici si abbarbicano, fra le pietre egli si affonda;
18 If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.	18 ma se viene strappato dal suo luogo, questo lo rinnega: “Non ti ho mai visto i
19 Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.	19 Eccolo seccarsi sulla strada, mentre altri germogliano dal suolo.
20 Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:	20 No, Dio non rigetta chi è integro, e non dà mano ai malvagi:
21 Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.	21 Egli colmerà ancora di sorriso la tua bocca e le tue labbra di giubilo:
22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.	22 chi ti odia sarà rivestito di vergogna e la tenda dei malvagi sparirà».
