KING JAMES BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,1 Then Baldad the Suhite answered, and said:
How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.2 How long will you throw out words? understand first, and so let us speak.
Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?3 Why are we reputed as beasts, and counted vile before you?
He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?4 Thou that destroyest thy soul in thy fury, shall the earth be forsaken for thee, and shall rocks be removed out of their place?
Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.5 Shall not the light of the wicked be extinguished, and the flame of his fire not shine?
The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.6 The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and the lamp that is over him, shall be put out.
The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.7 The step of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down headlong.
For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.8 For he hath thrust his feet into a net, and walketh in its meshes.
The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.9 The sole of his foot shall be held in a snare, and thirst shall burn against him.
The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.10 A gin is hidden for him in the earth, and his trap upon the path.
Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.11 Fears shall terrify him on every side, and shall entangle his feet.
His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.12 Let his strength be wasted with famine, and let hunger invade his ribs.
It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.13 Let it devour the beauty of his skin, let the firstborn death consume his arms.
His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.14 Let his confidence be rooted out of his tabernacle, and let destruction tread upon him like a king.
It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.15 Let the companions of him that is not, dwell in his tabernacle, let brimstone be sprinkled in his tent.
His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.16 Let his roots be dried up beneath, and his harvest destroyed above.
His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.17 Let the memory of him perish from the earth and let not his name be renowned in the streets.
He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.18 He shall drive him out of light into darkness, and shall remove him out of the world.
He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.19 His seed shall not subsist, nor his offspring among his people, nor any remnants in his country.
They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.20 They that come after him shall be astonished at his day, and horror shall fall upon them that went before.
Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.21 These men are the tabernacles of the wicked, and this the place of him that knoweth not God.
