Job 16

1 Then Job answered and said,	1 - Ma Giobbe rispose e disse:
2 I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.	2 «Ho udito frequentemente tali cose: consolatori molesti siete tutti voi!
3 Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?	3 C'è forse un termine alle parole di vento, ovvero hai tu qualche fastidio a parlare?
4 I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.	4 Potrei anch'io parlare a modo di voialtri, e magari voi foste al posto mio!
5 But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.	5 Anch'io vi consolerei a parole, e agiterei [superbamente] il mio capo su voialtri,
6 Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?	6 vi conforterei con la mia bocca, e moverei le mie labbra a vostra compassione.
7 But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.	7 Ma che fare? Se parlo, non cessa il mio dolore, se taccio, non si diparte da me.
8 And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.	8 Ora poi il dolor mio m'ha oppresso, e tutte le mie membra sono ridotte a un nulla.
9 He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.	9 Le mie rughe mi testimoniano contro, e un mendace calunniatore si leva contro me e parla;
10 They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.	10 radunò egli il suo furore, e minacciandomi digrigna contro me i suoi denti; il mio nemico con occhi terribili mi guarda,
11 God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.	11 aprirono [le sue torme] contro me la lor bocca: mi percuotono ad ingiuria sulle guance, si saziano dei miei tormenti.
12 I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.	12 Mi ha imprigionato Dio in poter d'un perverso, e nelle mani degli empii mi ha consegnato:
13 His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.	13 io, già felice, fui ad un tratto spezzato; m'afferrò egli per la nuca e m'ha infranto, m'ha posto come suo bersaglio,
14 He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.	14 m'ha assiepato con le sue lance, le mie reni ha trafitto senza pietà, ha sparso a terra le mie viscere:
15 I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.	15 mi ha lacerato con ferite su ferite, piombò su me come un gigante.
16 My face is foul with weeping, and my eyelids is the shadow of death;	16 Un sacco ho io cucito sulla mia pelle, ho ricoperto di cenere la mia carne;
17 Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.	17 la mia faccia s'è gonfiata pel piangere, le mie palpebre si sono ottenebrate.
18 O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.	18 Tali cose ho sofferte senza che l'iniquità fosse nelle mie mani, e mentre indirizzavo a Dio preghiere pure.
19 Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.	19 Oh terra, non ricoprire il mio sangue, e in te non trovi il mio grido un luogo di nascondimento!
20 My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.	20 Ecco invero che nel cielo sta il mio testimonio, e il mio attestante è nell'eccelso.
21 O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!	21 I miei amici sono verbosi, [perciò] a Dio si volgono in pianto gli occhi miei;
22 When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.	22 e magari il giudizio fra l'uomo e Dio fosse tale, quale il giudizio fra il mortale e il suo compagno:
	23 poichè i brevi anni già passano, e su strada da cui non tornerò io cammino.
