Proverbs 16

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA
1 A human heart makes the plans, Yahweh gives the answer.	1 All'uomo appartengono i progetti della mente, ma dal Signore viene la risposta.
2 A person's own acts seem right to the doer, but Yahweh is the weigher of souls.	2 Tutte le vie dell'uomo sembrano pure ai suoi occhi, ma chi scruta gli spiriti è il Signore.
3 Commend what you do to Yahweh, and what you plan wil be achieved.	3 Affida al Signore la tua attività e i tuoi progetti riusciranno.
4 Yahweh made everything for its own purpose, yes, even the wicked for the day of disaster.	4 Il Signore ha fatto tutto per un fine, anche l'empio per il giorno della sventura.
5 Every arrogant heart is abhorrent to Yahweh: be sure this wil not go unpunished.	5 È un abominio per il Signore ogni cuore superbo, certamente non resterà impunito.
6 By faithful love and constancy sin is expiated; by fear of Yahweh evil is avoided.	6 Con la bontà e la fedeltà si espia la colpa, con il timore del Signore si evita il male.
7 Let Yahweh be pleased with someone's way of life and he makes that person's very enemies intofriends.	7 Quando il Signore si compiace della condotta di un uomo, riconcilia con lui anche i suoi nemici.
8 Better have little and with it uprightness than great revenues with injustice.	8 Poco con onestà è meglio di molte rendite senza giustizia.
9 The human heart may plan a course, but it is Yahweh who makes the steps secure.	9 La mente dell'uomo pensa molto alla sua via, ma il Signore dirige i suoi passi.
10 The lips of the king utter prophecies, he keeps faith when he speaks in judgement.	10 Un oracolo è sulle labbra del re, in giudizio la sua bocca non sbaglia.
11 The balances and scales belong to Yahweh, al the weights in the bag are of his making.	11 La stadera e le bilance giuste appartengono al Signore, sono opera sua tutti i pesi del sacchetto.
12 Evil-doing is abhorrent to kings, since uprightness is a throne's foundation.	12 È in abominio ai re commettere un'azione iniqua, poiché il trono si consolida con la giustizia.
13 Upright lips are welcome to a king, he loves someone of honest words.	13 Delle labbra giuste si compiace il re e ama chi parla con rettitudine.
14 The king's wrath is the herald of death, but the wise will appease it.	14 L'ira del re è messaggera di morte, ma l'uomo saggio la placherà.
15 When the king's face brightens it spel s life, his favour is like the rain in spring.	15 Nello splendore del volto del re è la vita, il suo favore è come nube di primavera.
16 Better gain wisdom than gold, choose understanding in preference to silver.	16 È molto meglio possedere la sapienza che l'oro, il possesso dell'intelligenza è preferibile all'argento.
17 To turn from evil is the way of the honest; whoever watches the path keeps life safe.	17 La strada degli uomini retti è evitare il male, conserva la vita chi controlla la sua via.
18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fal .	18 Prima della rovina viene l'orgoglio e prima della caduta lo spirito altero.
19 Better be humble with the poor than share the booty with the proud.	19 È meglio abbassarsi con gli umili che spartire la preda con i superbi.
20 Whoever listens closely to the word finds happiness; whoever trusts Yahweh is blessed.	20 Chi è prudente nella parola troverà il bene e chi confida nel Signore è beato.
21 The wise of heart is acclaimed as intel igent, sweetness of speech increases knowledge.	21 Sarà chiamato intelligente chi è saggio di mente; il linguaggio dolce aumenta la dottrina.
22 Shrewdness is a fountain of life for its possessor, the fol y of fools is their own punishment.	22 Fonte di vita è la prudenza per chi la possiede, castigo degli stolti è la stoltezza.
23 The heart of the wise lends shrewdness to speech and makes words more persuasive.	23 Una mente saggia rende prudente la bocca e sulle sue labbra aumenta la dottrina.
24 Kindly words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste, wholesome to the body.	24 Favo di miele sono le parole gentili, dolcezza per l'anima e refrigerio per il corpo.
25 There is a way that some think straight, but it leads in the end to death.	25 C'è una via che pare diritta a qualcuno, ma sbocca in sentieri di morte.
26 A worker's appetite works on his behalf, for his hunger urges him on.	26 L'appetito del lavoratore lavora per lui, perché la sua bocca lo stimola.
27 A worthless person concocts evil, such a one's talk is like a scorching fire.	27 L'uomo perverso produce la sciagura, sulle sue labbra c'è come un fuoco ardente.
28 A troublemaker sows strife, a slanderer divides friend from friend.	28 L'uomo ambiguo provoca litigi, chi calunnia divide gli amici.
29 The violent lures his neighbour astray and leads him by a way that is not good.	29 L'uomo violento seduce il prossimo e lo spinge per una via non buona.
30 Whoever narrows the eyes to think up tricks and purses the lips has already done wrong.	30 Chi socchiude gli occhi medita inganni, chi stringe le labbra ha già commesso il male.
31 White hairs are a crown of honour, they are found in the ways of uprightness.	31 Corona magnifica è la canizie, ed essa si trova sulla via della giustizia.
32 Better an equable person than a hero, someone with self-mastery than one who takes a city.	32 Il paziente val più di un eroe, chi domina se stesso val più di chi conquista una città.
33 In the fold of the garment the lot is thrown, but from Yahweh comes the decision.	33 Nel grembo si getta la sorte, ma la decisione dipende tutta dal Signore.
