1 Salmo di David quando stava nel deserto dell'Idumea. DIO, Dio mio, a te io aspiro al primo apparir della luce. Di te ha sete l'anima mia: in quante maniere ha sete di te la mia carne!	1 To the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.
2 In una terra deserta, che vie non ha, ed è mancante di acque, mi presentai a te come nel santuario, per contemplare la tua potenza, e la tua gloria.	2 He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly moved.
3 Perocché miglior delle vite ell'è la tua misericordia: a te le labbra mie daran laude.	3 How long will you set upon a man to shatter him, all of you, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence?
4 Quindi io ti benedirò nella mia vita, e nel nome tuo alzerò le mie mani.	4 They only plan to thrust him down from his eminence. They take pleasure in falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. [Selah]
5 Sia come ingrassata, e impinguata l'anima mia: e con voci di giubilo te loderà la mia bocca.	5 For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from him.
6 Se io mi son ricordato di te nel mio letto al bel mattino, mediterò sopra dite:	6 He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
7 Perocché mio aiuto se' tu.	7 On God rests my deliverance and my honor; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
8 E all'ombra dell'ali tue io esulterò: dietro a te va anelando l'anima mia: la tua destra mi ha sostenuto.	8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. [Selah]
9 Eglino però indarno cercano la mia vita: entreranno nelle cupe viscere della terra,	9 Men of low estate are but a breath, men of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath.
10 Saranno dati in poter della spada, saran preda delle volpi.	10 Put no confidence in extortion, set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them.
11 Ma il re in Dio si allegrerà: avranno laude tutti coloro, che per lui giurano; perché è stata chiusa la bocca di coloro, che parlavano iniquamente.	11 Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God;
	12 and that to thee, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For thou dost requite a man according to his work.
