1 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Parla ai sacerdoti, figli di Aronne, e riferisci loro: Un sacerdote non dovrà rendersi immondo per il contatto con un morto della sua parentela,	1 The Lord also said to Moses: Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and you shall say to them: Do not allow a priest to be contaminated by the death of his citizens,
2 se non per un suo parente stretto, cioè per sua madre, suo padre, suo figlio, sua figlia, suo fratello	2 except only by his blood-relatives and near-relatives, that is, by a father or mother, or by a son or daughter, or also a brother,
3 e sua sorella ancora vergine, che viva con lui e non sia ancora maritata; per questa può esporsi alla immondezza.	3 or a virgin sister, who is not married to a husband.
4 Signore tra i suoi parenti, non si dovrà contaminare, profanando se stesso.	4 But not even by the leader of his people shall he be contaminated.
5 I sacerdoti non si faranno tonsure sul capo, né si raderanno ai lati la barba né si faranno incisioni nella carne.	5 Neither shall they shave their head or their beard, and they shall not make incisions in their flesh.
6 Saranno santi per il loro Dio e non profaneranno il nome del loro Dio, perché offrono al Signore sacrifici consumati dal fuoco, pane del loro Dio; perciò saranno santi.	6 They shall be holy to their God, and they shall not pollute his name. For they offer the incense of the Lord and the bread of their God, and because of this they shall be holy.
7 Non prenderanno in moglie una prostituta o già disonorata; né una donna ripudiata dal marito, perché sono santi per il loro Dio.	7 They shall not take as a wife a promiscuous woman, or a prostitute, or her who has been repudiated by her husband. For they are consecrated to their God,
8 Tu considererai dunque il sacerdote come santo, perché egli offre il pane del tuo Dio: sarà per te santo, perché io, il Signore, che vi santifico, sono santo.	8 and they offer the bread of the presence. Therefore, let them be holy, for I also am holy: the Lord, who sanctifies them.
9 Se la figlia di un sacerdote si disonora prostituendosi, disonora suo padre; sarà arsa con il fuoco.	9 If the daughter of a priest will have been taken into prostitution, and will have violated the name of her father, she shall be consumed by fire.
10 Il sacerdote, quello che è il sommo tra i suoi fratelli, sul capo del quale è stato sparso l'olio dell'unzione e ha ricevuto l'investitura, indossando le vesti sacre, non dovrà scarmigliarsi i capelli né stracciarsi le vesti.	10 The high priest, that is, the priest who is the greatest among his brothers, upon whose head the oil of anointing has been poured, and whose hands have been consecrated for the priesthood, and who has been vested with the holy vestments: he shall not expose his head; he shall not rend his vestments.
11 Non si avvicinerà ad alcun cadavere; non si renderà immondo neppure per suo padre e per sua madre.	11 And he shall not enter to any dead body whatsoever; likewise, not even by his father or mother shall he be contaminated.
12 Non uscirà dal santuario e non profanerà il santuario del suo Dio, perché la consacrazione è su di lui mediante l'olio dell'unzione del suo Dio. Io sono il Signore.	12 Neither shall he exit from the holy places, lest he pollute the Sanctuary of the Lord. For the oil of the holy anointing of his God is upon him. I am the Lord.
13 Sposerà una vergine.	13 He shall take a virgin as his wife.
14 Non potrà sposare né una vedova, né una divorziata, né una disonorata, né una prostituta; ma prenderà in moglie una vergine della sua gente.	14 But a widow, or one who has been repudiated or defiled, or also a mistress, he shall not accept, but only a maiden from among his own people.
15 Così non disonorerà la sua discendenza in mezzo al suo popolo; poiché io sono il Signore che lo santifico".	15 He shall not mingle the stock of his family with the common people of his nation. For I am the Lord, who sanctifies him.
16 Il Signore disse ancora a Mosè:	16 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
17 "Parla ad Aronne e digli: Nelle generazioni future nessun uomo della tua stirpe, che abbia qualche deformità, potrà accostarsi ad offrire il pane del suo Dio;	17 Say to Aaron: A man from your offspring, throughout their families, who has a blemish, shall not offer the bread to his God.
18 perché nessun uomo che abbia qualche deformità potrà accostarsi: né il cieco, né lo zoppo, né chi abbia il viso deforme per difetto o per eccesso,	18 Neither shall he approach to minister to him: if he is blind, if he is lame, if he is small, or large, or has a crooked nose,
19 né chi abbia una frattura al piede o alla mano,	19 if his foot or hand is broken,
20 né un gobbo, né un nano, né chi abbia una macchia nell'occhio o la scabbia o piaghe purulente o sia eunuco.	20 if he has a bulging back or bleary eyes, or if he has a white spot in his eye, or a chronic scab, or a skin disease on his body, or a hernia.
21 Nessun uomo della stirpe del sacerdote Aronne, con qualche deformità, si accosterà ad offrire i sacrifici consumati dal fuoco in onore del Signore. Ha un difetto: non si accosti quindi per offrire il pane del suo Dio.	21 Anyone from the offspring of Aaron, the priest, who has a blemish, shall not approach to offer sacrifices to the Lord, nor the bread to his God.
22 Potrà mangiare il pane del suo Dio, le cose sacrosante e le cose sante;	22 Nevertheless, he shall eat from the loaves which are offered in the Sanctuary.
23 ma non potrà avvicinarsi al velo, né accostarsi all'altare, perché ha una deformità. Non dovrà profanare i miei luoghi santi, perché io sono il Signore che li santifico".	23 But even so, he may not enter within the veil, nor approach to the altar. For he has a blemish, and he must not contaminate my Sanctuary. I am the Lord, who sanctifies them.
24 Così parlò ad Aronne, ai suoi figli e a tutti gli Israeliti.	24 Therefore, Moses spoke to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all of Israel, everything that had been commanded to him.
