1 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Parla ai sacerdoti, figli di Aronne, e riferisci loro: Un sacerdote non dovrà rendersi immondo per il contatto con un morto della sua parentela,	1 Yahweh said to Moses: 'Speak to the priests descended from Aaron and say: "None of them mustmake himself unclean by touching the corpse of one of his people,
2 se non per un suo parente stretto, cioè per sua madre, suo padre, suo figlio, sua figlia, suo fratello	2 unless it be of one of his closest relations-father, mother, son, daughter, brother,
3 e sua sorella ancora vergine, che viva con lui e non sia ancora maritata; per questa può esporsi alla immondezza.	3 or virgin sister, since she being unmarried is still his close relation: he can make himself unclean forher;
4 Signore tra i suoi parenti, non si dovrà contaminare, profanando se stesso.	4 but for a close female relation who is married he wil not make himself unclean; he would profanehimself.
5 I sacerdoti non si faranno tonsure sul capo, né si raderanno ai lati la barba né si faranno incisioni nella carne.	5 "They wil not make tonsures on their heads, shave the edges of their beards, or gash their bodies.
6 Saranno santi per il loro Dio e non profaneranno il nome del loro Dio, perché offrono al Signore sacrifici consumati dal fuoco, pane del loro Dio; perciò saranno santi.	6 They wil be consecrated to their God and wil not profane the name of their God. For their function isto offer the food burnt for Yahweh, the food of their God, and so they must be holy.
7 Non prenderanno in moglie una prostituta o già disonorata; né una donna ripudiata dal marito, perché sono santi per il loro Dio.	7 "They wil not marry a woman profaned by prostitution, or one divorced by her husband, for the priestis consecrated to his God.
8 Tu considererai dunque il sacerdote come santo, perché egli offre il pane del tuo Dio: sarà per te santo, perché io, il Signore, che vi santifico, sono santo.	8 "You wil treat him as holy, for he offers the food of your God. For you, he wil be a holy person, for I,Yahweh, who sanctify you, am holy.
9 Se la figlia di un sacerdote si disonora prostituendosi, disonora suo padre; sarà arsa con il fuoco.	9 "If a priest's daughter profanes herself by prostitution, she profanes her father and wil be burnt alive.
10 Il sacerdote, quello che è il sommo tra i suoi fratelli, sul capo del quale è stato sparso l'olio dell'unzione e ha ricevuto l'investitura, indossando le vesti sacre, non dovrà scarmigliarsi i capelli né stracciarsi le vesti.	10 "The priest who is pre-eminent over his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured,and who, robed in the sacred vestments, has received investiture, wil not disorder his hair or tear his clothes;
11 Non si avvicinerà ad alcun cadavere; non si renderà immondo neppure per suo padre e per sua madre.	11 he wil not go near any corpse or make himself unclean even for his father or mother.
12 Non uscirà dal santuario e non profanerà il santuario del suo Dio, perché la consacrazione è su di lui mediante l'olio dell'unzione del suo Dio. Io sono il Signore.	12 He wil not leave the holy place in such a way as to profane the sanctuary of his God; for he bears theconsecration of the anointing oil of his God. I am Yahweh.
13 Sposerà una vergine.	13 "He will marry a woman who is stil a virgin.
14 Non potrà sposare né una vedova, né una divorziata, né una disonorata, né una prostituta; ma prenderà in moglie una vergine della sua gente.	14 He wil not marry a woman who has been widowed or divorced or profaned by prostitution, but wilmarry a virgin from his own people:
15 Così non disonorerà la sua discendenza in mezzo al suo popolo; poiché io sono il Signore che lo santifico".	15 he must not make his own children profane, for I, Yahweh, have sanctified him." '
16 Il Signore disse ancora a Mosè:	16 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
17 "Parla ad Aronne e digli: Nelle generazioni future nessun uomo della tua stirpe, che abbia qualche deformità, potrà accostarsi ad offrire il pane del suo Dio;	17 'Speak to Aaron and say: "None of your descendants, for al time, may come forward to offer the foodof his God if he has any infirmity,
18 perché nessun uomo che abbia qualche deformità potrà accostarsi: né il cieco, né lo zoppo, né chi abbia il viso deforme per difetto o per eccesso,	18 for none may come forward if he has an infirmity, be he blind or lame, disfigured or deformed,
19 né chi abbia una frattura al piede o alla mano,	19 or with an injured foot or arm,
20 né un gobbo, né un nano, né chi abbia una macchia nell'occhio o la scabbia o piaghe purulente o sia eunuco.	20 a hunchback, someone with rickets or ophthalmia or the scab or running sores, or a eunuch.
21 Nessun uomo della stirpe del sacerdote Aronne, con qualche deformità, si accosterà ad offrire i sacrifici consumati dal fuoco in onore del Signore. Ha un difetto: non si accosti quindi per offrire il pane del suo Dio.	21 No descendant of the priest Aaron may come forward to offer the food burnt for Yahweh if he has anyinfirmity; if he has an infirmity, he wil not come forward to offer the food of his God.
22 Potrà mangiare il pane del suo Dio, le cose sacrosante e le cose sante;	22 "He may eat the food of his God, things especially holy and things holy,
23 ma non potrà avvicinarsi al velo, né accostarsi all'altare, perché ha una deformità. Non dovrà profanare i miei luoghi santi, perché io sono il Signore che li santifico".	23 but he wil not go near the curtain or approach the altar, since he has an infirmity and must notprofane my holy things; for I, Yahweh, have sanctified them." '
24 Così parlò ad Aronne, ai suoi figli e a tutti gli Israeliti.	24 And Moses promulgated this to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the Israelites.
