1 Il Signore disse a Mosè e ad Aronne:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron and said to them,
2 "Riferite agli Israeliti: Questi sono gli animali che potrete mangiare fra tutte le bestie che sono sulla terra.	2 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "Of al animals living on land these are the creatures you may eat:
3 Potrete mangiare d'ogni quadrupede che ha l'unghia bipartita, divisa da una fessura, e che rumina.	3 "You may eat any animal that has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, and that is a ruminant.
4 Ma fra i ruminanti e gli animali che hanno l'unghia divisa, non mangerete i seguenti: il cammello, perché rumina, ma non ha l'unghia divisa, lo considererete immondo;	4 The fol owing, which either chew the cud or have a cloven hoof, are the ones that you may not eat: youwil regard the camel as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;
5 l'ìrace, perché rumina, ma non ha l'unghia divisa, lo considererete immondo;	5 you wil regard the coney as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;
6 la lepre, perché rumina, ma non ha l'unghia divisa, la considererete immonda;	6 you wil regard the hare as unclean, because though it is ruminant, it does not have a cloven hoof;
7 il porco, perché ha l'unghia bipartita da una fessura, ma non rumina, lo considererete immondo.	7 you wil regard the pig as unclean, because though it has a cloven hoof, divided into two parts, it is nota ruminant.
8 Non mangerete la loro carne e non toccherete i loro cadaveri; li considererete immondi.	8 You will not eat the meat of these or touch their dead bodies; you wil regard them as unclean.
9 Questi sono gli animali che potrete mangiare fra tutti quelli acquatici. Potrete mangiare quanti hanno pinne e squame, sia nei mari, sia nei fiumi.	9 "Of al that lives in water, these you may eat: "Anything that has fins and scales, and lives in the water, whether in sea or river, you may eat.
10 Ma di tutti gli animali, che si muovono o vivono nelle acque, nei mari e nei fiumi, quanti non hanno né pinne né squame, li terrete in abominio.	10 But anything in sea or river that does not have fins and scales, of al the smal water-creatures and althe living things found there, you wil regard as detestable.
11 Essi saranno per voi in abominio; non mangerete la loro carne e terrete in abominio i loro cadaveri.	11 You wil regard them as detestable; you must not eat their meat and you wil regard their carcases asdetestable.
12 Tutto ciò che non ha né pinne né squame nelle acque sarà per voi in abominio.	12 Anything that lives in water, but not having fins and scales, you wil regard as detestable.
13 Fra i volatili terrete in abominio questi, che non dovrete mangiare, perché ripugnanti: l'aquila, l'ossìfraga e l'aquila di mare,	13 "Of the birds these are the ones that you wil regard as detestable; they may not be eaten, they aredetestable for eating: "The tawny vulture, the griffon, the osprey,
14 il nibbio e ogni specie di falco,	14 the kite, the various kinds of buzzard,
15 ogni specie di corvo,	15 all kinds of raven,
16 lo struzzo, la civetta, il gabbiano e ogni specie di sparviere,	16 the ostrich, the screech owl, the seagul , the various kinds of hawk,
17 il gufo, l'alcione, l'ibis,	17 horned owl, night owl, cormorant, barn owl,
18 il cigno, il pellicano, la fòlaga,	18 ibis, pelican, white vulture,
19 la cicogna, ogni specie di airone, l'ùpupa e il pipistrello.	19 stork, the various kinds of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.
20 Sarà per voi in abominio anche ogni insetto alato, che cammina su quattro piedi.	20 "Al winged insects moving on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating.
21 Però fra tutti gli insetti alati che camminano su quattro piedi, potrete mangiare quelli che hanno due zampe sopra i piedi, per saltare sulla terra.	21 Of al these winged insects you may eat only the fol owing: those with the sort of legs above their feetwhich enable them to leap over the ground.
22 Perciò potrete mangiare i seguenti: ogni specie di cavalletta, ogni specie di locusta, ogni specie di acrìdi e ogni specie di grillo.	22 These are the ones you may eat: the various kinds of migratory locust, the various kinds of solhamlocust, hargol locust and hagab locust.
23 Ogni altro insetto alato che ha quattro piedi lo terrete in abominio!	23 But al other winged insects on four feet you wil regard as detestable for eating.
24 Per i seguenti animali diventerete immondi: chiunque toccherà il loro cadavere sarà immondo fino alla sera	24 "By the fol owing you wil be made unclean. Anyone who touches the carcase of one wil be uncleanuntil evening.
25 e chiunque trasporterà i loro cadaveri si dovrà lavare le vesti e sarà immondo fino alla sera.	25 Anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.
26 Riterrete immondo ogni animale che ha l'unghia, ma non divisa da fessura, e non rumina: chiunque li toccherà sarà immondo.	26 Animals that have hoofs, but not cloven, and that are not ruminant, you wil regard as unclean;anyone who touches them will be unclean.
27 Considererete immondi tutti i quadrupedi che camminano sulla pianta dei piedi; chiunque ne toccherà il cadavere sarà immondo fino alla sera.	27 Those four-footed animals which walk on the flat of their paws you wil regard as unclean; anyonewho touches their carcases wil be unclean until evening,
28 E chiunque trasporterà i loro cadaveri si dovrà lavare le vesti e sarà immondo fino alla sera. Tali animali riterrete immondi.	28 and anyone who picks up their carcases must wash his clothing and wil be unclean until evening.You will regard them as unclean.
29 Fra gli animali che strisciano per terra riterrete immondi: la talpa, il topo e ogni specie di sauri,	29 "Of the smal creatures which crawl along the ground, these are the ones which you wil regard asunclean: the mole, the rat, the various kinds of lizard:
30 il toporagno, la lucertola, il geco, il ramarro, il camaleonte.	30 gecko, koah, letaah, chameleon and tinshamet.
31 Questi animali, fra quanti strisciano, saranno immondi per voi; chiunque li toccherà morti, sarà immondo fino alla sera.	31 "Of al the smal creatures, these are the animals which you must regard as disgusting. Anyone whotouches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening.
32 Ogni oggetto sul quale cadrà morto qualcuno di essi, sarà immondo: si tratti di utensili di legno o di veste o pelle o sacco o qualunque altro oggetto di cui si faccia uso; si immergerà nell'acqua e sarà immondo fino alla sera; poi sarà mondo.	32 "Any object on which one of these creatures fal s when it is dead becomes unclean: wooden utensil,clothing, skin, sacking, any utensil whatever. It must be immersed in water and wil remain unclean until evening:then it wil be clean.
33 Se ne cade qualcuno in un vaso di terra, quanto vi si troverà dentro sarà immondo e spezzerete il vaso.	33 If the creature fal s into an earthenware vessel, the vessel must be broken; whatever the vesselcontains is unclean.
34 Ogni cibo che serve di nutrimento, sul quale cada quell'acqua, sarà immondo; ogni bevanda di cui si fa uso, qualunque sia il vaso che la contiene, sarà immonda.	34 Any edible food wil be unclean if the water touches it; any drinkable liquid will be unclean, no matterwhat its container.
35 Ogni oggetto sul quale cadrà qualche parte del loro cadavere, sarà immondo; il forno o il fornello sarà spezzato: sono immondi e li dovete ritenere tali.	35 Anything on which the carcase of such a creature may fal wil be unclean: be it oven or stove, it mustbe destroyed; for they are unclean and you wil regard them as unclean
36 Però, una fonte o una cisterna, cioè una raccolta di acqua, sarà monda; ma chi toccherà i loro cadaveri sarà immondo.	36 (although springs, wel s and stretches of water wil remain clean); anyone who touches one of theircarcases wil be unclean.
37 Se qualcosa dei loro cadaveri cade su qualche seme che deve essere seminato, questo sarà mondo;	37 If one of their carcases fal s on any kind of seed, the seed will remain clean;
38 ma se è stata versata acqua sul seme e vi cade qualche cosa dei loro cadaveri, lo riterrai immondo.	38 but if the seed has been moistened and one of their carcases fal s on it, you wil regard it as unclean.
39 Se muore un animale, di cui vi potete cibare, colui che ne toccherà il cadavere sarà immondo fino alla sera.	39 "If one of the animals that you use as food dies, anyone who touches the carcase wil be unclean untilevening;
40 Colui che mangerà di quel cadavere si laverà le vesti e sarà immondo fino alla sera; anche colui che trasporterà quel cadavere si laverà le vesti e sarà immondo fino alla sera.	40 anyone who eats any of the carcase must wash his clothing and will remain unclean until evening;anyone who picks up the carcase must wash his clothing and wil remain unclean until evening.
41 Ogni essere che striscia sulla terra è un abominio; non se ne mangerà.	41 "Any creature that swarms on the ground is detestable for eating; it must not be eaten.
42 Di tutti gli animali che strisciano sulla terra non ne mangerete alcuno che cammini sul ventre o cammini con quattro piedi o con molti piedi, poiché sono un abominio.	42 Anything that moves on its bel y, anything that moves on four legs or more -- in short all the creaturesthat swarm on the ground -- you will not eat, since they are detestable.
43 Non rendete le vostre persone abominevoli con alcuno di questi animali che strisciano; non vi rendete immondi per causa loro, in modo da rimaner così contaminati.	43 Do not make yourselves detestable with al these swarming creatures; do not defile yourselves withthem, do not be defiled by them.
44 Poiché io sono il Signore, il Dio vostro. Santificatevi dunque e siate santi, perché io sono santo; non contaminate le vostre persone con alcuno di questi animali che strisciano per terra.	44 For it is I, Yahweh, who am your God. You have been sanctified and have become holy because I amholy: do not defile yourselves with all these creatures that swarm on the ground.
45 Poiché io sono il Signore, che vi ho fatti uscire dal paese d'Egitto, per essere il vostro Dio; siate dunque santi, perché io sono santo.	45 Yes, it is I, Yahweh, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God: you must therefore be holybecause I am holy." '
46 Questa è la legge che riguarda i quadrupedi, gli uccelli, ogni essere vivente che si muove nelle acque e ogni essere che striscia per terra,	46 Such is the law concerning animals, birds, al living creatures that move in water and al creaturesthat swarm on the ground.
47 perché sappiate distinguere ciò che è immondo da ciò che è mondo, l'animale che si può mangiare da quello che non si deve mangiare".	47 Its purpose is to distinguish the clean from the unclean, the creatures that may be eaten from thosethat may not be eaten.
