Salmos 73

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Salmo de Asaf. ¡Qué bueno es Dios para Israel, para los limpios de corazón!	1 A psalm of Asaph. How good God is to the upright, the Lord, to those who are clean of heart!
2 Pero casi se desvían mis pasos, faltó poco para que diera un traspié,	2 I But, as for me, I lost my balance; my feet all but slipped,
3 porque tuve envidia de los presuntuosos, al ver la prosperidad de los malvados.	3 Because I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Para ellos no hay sufrimientos, su cuerpo está sano y robusto;	4 For they suffer no pain; their bodies are healthy and sleek.
5 no comparten las penas de los hombres ni son golpeados como los demás.	5 They are free of the burdens of life; they are not afflicted like others.
6 Por eso, el orgullo es su collar y la violencia, el manto que los cubre;	6 Thus pride adorns them as a necklace; violence clothes them as a robe.
7 la malicia se les sale por los poros, su corazón rebosa de malos propósitos.	7 Out of their stupidity comes sin; evil thoughts flood their hearts.
8 Se burlan y hablan con maldad; desde lo alto, amenazan con prepotencia;	8 They scoff and spout their malice; from on high they utter threats.
9 su boca se insolenta contra el cielo y su lengua se pasea por la tierra.	9 They set their mouths against the heavens, their tongues roam the earth.
10 Por eso, el pueblo de Dios se vuelve hacia ellos, y beben el agua a raudales.	10 So my people turn to them and drink deeply of their words.
11 Ellos dicen: «¿Acaso Dios lo va a saber? ¿Se va a enterar el Altísimo?»	11 They say, "Does God really know?" "Does the Most High have any knowledge?"
12 Así son esos malvados y, siempre tranquilos, acrecientan sus riquezas.	12 Such, then, are the wicked, always carefree, increasing their wealth.
13 Entonces, ¿en vano mantuve puro mi corazón y lavé mis manos en señal de inocencia?	13 Is it in vain that I have kept my heart clean, washed my hands in innocence?
14 Porque yo era golpeado todo el día y cada mañana soportaba mi castigo.	14 For I am afflicted day after day, chastised every morning.
15 Si hubiera dicho: «Voy a hablar como ellos», habría traicionado al linaje de tus hijos.	15 Had I thought, "I will speak as they do," I would have betrayed your people.
16 Yo reflexionaba, tratando de entenderlo, pero me resultaba demasiado difícil.	16 Though I tried to understand all this, it was too difficult for me,
17 ¡Hasta que entré en el Santuario de Dios y comprendí el fin que les espera!	17 Till I entered the sanctuary of God and came to understand their end.
18 Sí, tú los pones en un terreno resbaladizo y los precipitas en la ruina.	18 You set them, indeed, on a slippery road; you hurl them down to ruin.
19 ¡Qué pronto quedan devastados y acaban consumidos por el horror!	19 How suddenly they are devastated; undone by disasters forever!
20 Son como un sueño al despertar, Señor; al levantarte, disipas hasta su imagen.	20 They are like a dream after waking, Lord, dismissed like shadows when you arise.
21 Cuando se agriaba mi corazón y me torturaba en mi interior,	21 Since my heart was embittered and my soul deeply wounded,
22 yo era un necio y no comprendía, era como un animal ante ti.	22 I was stupid and could not understand; I was like a brute beast in your presence.
23 Pero yo estoy siempre contigo, tú me has tomado de la mano derecha;	23 Yet I am always with you; you take hold of my right hand.
24 me guiarás con tu consejo y después, me recibirás con gloria.	24 With your counsel you guide me, and at the end receive me with honor.
25 ¿A quién sino a ti tengo yo en el cielo? Si estoy contigo, no deseo nada en la tierra.	25 Whom else have I in the heavens? None beside you delights me on earth.
26 Aunque mi corazón y mi carne se consuman, Dios es mi herencia para siempre y la Roca de mi corazón.	26 Though my flesh and my heart fail, God is the rock of my heart, my portion forever.
27 Los que se apartan de ti terminan mal, tú destruyes a los que te son infieles.	27 But those who are far from you perish; you destroy those unfaithful to you.
28 Mi dicha es estar cerca de Dios: yo he puesto mi refugio en ti, Señor, para proclamar todas tus acciones.	28 As for me, to be near God is my good, to make the Lord GOD my refuge. I shall declare all your works in the gates of daughter Zion.
